bigal65 Posted September 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2011 I am interested in the L A cruise on the Sapphire leaving May 2012. Can anybody tell me the best deck, I like a balcony and a sunny side. I was on the Emerald recently on a Baltic cruise and had a balcony on the Rivieria deck which was the deck from hell. The noise from above was horrendous, I am therefore keen to avoid this next time.

funny1 Posted September 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Most people will tell you to pick a cabin between two passenger decks and stay mid ship. We, however, like an aft cabin on the Aloha deck. The balcony is small but completely covered. We also like the cabins on Caribe deck. The balconies are bigger. Try to stay away from cabins under or over the nightclub or kitchen, or any areas that have activity while you like to sleep.
Rare Essiesmom Posted September 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2011 The balconies on Caribe deck are the largest, and half covered. 9X9. Other balconies are 9x5. EM
aloisia Posted September 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 13, 2011 We had Baja 633 & 635 - great location, quiet & near the elevators/stairs.
cherylandtk Posted September 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2011 Caribe deck, larger balconies, good sun exposure, usually other cabins above and below you.
Rare mizLORInj Posted September 14, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2011 Hi. I hear ya about the Riviera deck. We fortunately had a cabin under the carpeted area so there was no noise, but my bro and SIL were slightly forward on the Riviera deck and under an uncarpeted area and had so much noise from above they asked to be moved to another deck. I don't want to be above the theater or casino either. have fun!
serene56 Posted September 19, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 19, 2011 THE BEST balcony we ever had was C753. Its almost private- No neighbors across the hall- only one neighbor on the one side. THe balcony is amazing. Google Princess C753 or Princess C752 and you will see many photos

(CLICK TO ENLARGE THE PHOTOS) the dolphin deck is exposed to the balconies above. Move down to the Emerald deck to have more privacy. Best mini suite E731 or D737 Both minis feature a longer balcony for the same money. Emerald deck will have privacy In this photo - on the left side of the ship (see those two rounded white walls-- the top one is the dolphin deck- the bottom is the Emerald deck. (see how much more those two balconies are extended

szweiback Posted September 24, 2011 #12 Share Posted September 24, 2011 As I recall, the term "POSH" came from "port outward, starboard home" referring to sailings between Great Britain and India. In other words, the the days before air conditioning, it was best to be on the shady side of the ship. i.e. northern exposure. I am not sure where you are travelling in May 2012, but if you want the sunny side of the ship, sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii, you would want the port side. Unfortunately, since I assume you are taking a RT cruise, the port side would only work on the outbound portion of the cruise. Enjoy your trip, the Los Angeles-Hawaii sailing is always offers a nice time.
dorisis Posted February 24, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 24, 2012 We have been upgraded to cabin CC101 right at the front of the ship. Anyone been on that ship in that cabin. It is a 28 day cruise and I am concerened about this location on such a long trip. I am not prone to seasickness , but still worried in case of high seas. ~Doris~

That's all that's left for the starboard side up to Alaska.
