nkaltso Posted November 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2011 My Wife and I just got off of the Serenade of the seas (11/13/11 Sail date) after experiencing our biggest disapointment with being a Crown and Anchor member thus far. Our Loyalty ambasodor was a no show to the diamond events. He was at the special Plantnum and above event then left after his speech. The event lasted less then 45 minutes, because it was inbetween the two dinners. At the end of 45 minutes the music stopped and everyone left. Many of the Diamond members complained of No personal contact or greetings from the loyalty ambassador. Many could not remember a cruise were they were not personally greeted by senior staff. The C&A ambassador for this cruise was Pablo Toscano, I was so disappointed I did not event reserve my next cruise on board. As for the rest of the ship, here is my little review. Non Senior Staff -- Excellent Senior Staff -- Very distant and not caring, The only one that said hello and sat down to talk was the Casino manager Oleg. He was very nice. Dinning room food -- excellent (much improved from my last time on the Serenade) Portofino restaurant food -- excellent Ship -- Fine shape If you experience the same please share your thoughts. Coralc Posted November 20, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2011 Welcome to Cruise Critic! I guess I don't understand why the presence (or absence) of the Loyalty Ambassador would affect any aspect of your cruise enjoyment? A good LA will arrange the parties and events, and while it always nice to have them attend and mingle....it doesn't really affect our cruise. We much prefer that they handle our requests and future bookings in an efficient manner. :)

Nick K. We were on Serenade starting Oct 23rd. I'll have to say that I don't disagree with you although we didn't attend any C& A events mainly due to timing issues with first seating dinner or Chops or Portofino. Also, we're not big fans of the C&A events and mingling with the staff is no big deal. That being said, we didn't see many senior staff around the ship very often. Never saw Pablo. We did experience the BEST dining room service we have ever had on a cruise ship. Fabulous job. :D Also, Mario Reyes in the concierge lounge was a huge help and made us feel very welcome. We also did a bridge tour and the 1st officer on duty was very welcoming and informative.
bplazo Posted November 20, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2011 It would never bother me if I did not meet the captain, loyalty ambassador, the cruise director etc. As long as I have someone serving me dinner and cleaning the cabin, I am a happy person. S&C2 Posted November 20, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2011 Really??? You're going to let that ruin what appears to be an excellent cruise?
nkaltso Posted November 20, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted November 20, 2011 Really??? You're going to let that ruin what appears to be an excellent cruise? This did not ruin our cruise, but I also noticed there are ones that partake in all the C&A activities and those that don't care. Im speaking for the ones at the activities, that share the same issues we saw
sr4mjc Posted November 20, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I've never spoken to anyone in these positions on any of my cruises. Looking forward to the Serenade in Feb and not meeting Pablo :D
cruise pup Posted November 20, 2011 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2011 At the end of 45 minutes the music stopped and everyone left.If you experience the same please share your thoughts. Nick K. If you look at the invitation it usually states the time (both start and finish) and I'm pretty sure 45 minutes is all they allow for. I just wonder why you only wanted those who expereince the same to share their thoughts.
Big_G Posted November 20, 2011 #10 Share Posted November 20, 2011 Free drinks for 45 minutes and it ruined the cruise? Sounds like the highlight of it to me.

I agree also..many of my cruises I have had no idea who was who and didn't care..I don't need to mingle with Sr. Officers to enjoy my cruise..If I need to see the LA I make an appointment and that's all that's necessary.. Yeah, 45 minutes is the standard in my experience too.
Paulxyz2004 Posted November 20, 2011 #13 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I don´t need to meet, chat, get friends or whatever with the LA or any other senior staff member, officer or captain onboard. I couldn´t care less who they are as long as they do their job. Certainly doesn´t change my cruise experience.
mommabean Posted November 20, 2011 #14 Share Posted November 20, 2011 If you've never been on a cruise with this particle LA, you won't understand. I know exactly what the OP is talking about. We were on board with him for 2 weeks and this is one detached, not friendly LA. I guess you need to experience him to get it. An LA is supposed to make repeat cruisers feel welcome and excited to book another cruise. I would never give him the benefit of my bookings. If I weren't typing with one finger on a phone, I'd elaborate further. Just off AD with the lovely and charming LA Mary Ann who does a fabulous and amazing job..... :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Starry Eyes Posted November 20, 2011 #15 Share Posted November 20, 2011 The "loyalty ambassadors" seem more like "future cruise order takers" to me. Thtat is the primary activity I see then perform. Speeches at events often center on same. So far, they have not inspired loyalty from me. Now D concierge or the concierge in the CL are a different matter. They seem more likely to interact extensively with their guests and to arrange special events. If he is D or higher, the OP may be happier on ships with a D lounge. Paulxyz2004 Posted November 20, 2011 #17 Share Posted November 20, 2011 And the LA the OP mentioned is NOT doing his job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeah maybe, I wasn´t on the cruise and I don´t know this LA, so I can´t say if he´s doing his job or not. All I can say is I likely wouldn´t even recognize if he´s doing his job or not. The LA is about the least important person onboard to me.
SConnolly Posted November 20, 2011 #18 Share Posted November 20, 2011 We were on the Oct 16th sailing and had a completely different experience. On day 1 on our cruise we bumped into Pablo on one of the staircases. He immediately said welcome home and how nice it was to see us again. He had remembered us from one of Med cruises on Brilliance. We saw him at many events during the week and he always said hello and in fact introduced us to some of his colleagues. He also took care of our future cruise bookings and constantly asked how we were enjoying our cruise and if we needed anything. Mario in the CL lounges was also Fantastic. KEEP UP TE GOOD WORK GUYS.....and we hope to sail with you again.

Cigar King Posted November 20, 2011 #20 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I just don't understand this. I don't need the LA, or any of the other senior staff, to do anything but their jobs, for me to have a great cruise. From my experience, they do those jobs well. If they smile at me, or give me a hug and kiss, it's just a bonus.

I am so with you. I am a lowly Platinum, so maybe this is why I am not "getting" the OP's issue. I will visit the LA, and book my future cruise; once that's done, my expectation will have been met. We are sailing in 11 days--and I think you are too, bplazo--and I am also so very excited to be served dinner, and have my cabin cleaned, and especially to be out on the beautiful ocean on the beautiful Explorer. teddie

I think we all needed to hear this, not that OP's concerns aren't valid.... just that (probably) some of us don't quite get the complaint. The way you've phrased things makes it clearer, for me. :) . Rare orville99 Posted November 20, 2011 #23 Share Posted November 20, 2011 A good LA remembers and looks out for pax who are returning guests. Case in point; on our first ever RCI cruise (FOS), we booked a cruise a year out on the same ship. A year later, we ran into the same LA at the welcome back party, and he not only remembered us, but opened up the C&A desk so we could look at future cruises. (off-schedule, BTW. He wasn't scheduled to be on desk for two more hours).
LookingForward2 Posted November 20, 2011 #24 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I was on that same cruise 10/23 and I will agree with the OP - this guy had NO personality. We went with our friends to book a future cruise and we talked with the other representative. Pablo barely even looked up at our friends while at his desk, took a phone call for several minutes and ended their session with 'I'll get back to you in a day or so'. Of course he did not get back to them about their issue, so they contacted him. He did exhibit a bit more personality that day, so we all decided he was just having an off day. Of course this does not affect our cruise enjoyment, it's just a fact - as stated by the OP.
