hcw80 Posted January 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2012 The local news stated that Port Everglades is at capacity this weekend http://www.local10.com/news/Port-everglades-at-maximum-capacity/-/1717324/7658842/-/gya717z/-/ I'll go down by the beach around 4:30-5:00 and watch the parade. Have a great time everyone.
compozer Posted January 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2012 We were in FLL on the 22nd for our Christmas cruise on the 23rd and decided to take a walk late in the afternoon forgetting that it was time for the ships to leave. We walked to the top of the bridge and what a site we saw. I can't remember how many ships left - maybe five but it was neat to see and our son got some great shots. Even if you have seen it a dozen times before, still gets to me.

capriccio Posted January 7, 2012 #12 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Lo. It looks like an absolutely gorgeous sunny day in Fort Lauderdale :) It is gorgeous today - we just got here last night for a couple of weeks on the beach north of Fort Lauderdale. Sun shining, not a cloud in the sky, temperature right now is the mid-70s and some hearty souls are swimming in the ocean and the pool (that's still a wee bit chilly for me but I'm enjoying the view from the balcony). Shogun - thanks for the info. We'll be in Fort Lauderdale this afternoon - we'll have to go see the 'boat parade'.
Vexorg Posted January 7, 2012 #13 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Just three weeks here before I join the parade myself on the Crown Princess. According to Cruise Timetables, there's seven ships in port on the 28th when I'm going out, so it's not quite as many ships, but pretty close. Sailingpeace Posted January 7, 2012 #14 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Is there a way to record the departure of a ship ? I would like to have it as the intro of our vacation video I'll make after our cuise. I could have a friend record it for us as we are on the ship. I watched the departure of the grand last week and the camera zoomed and really showed the ship in a nice way. And with the people on the decks and balconies you can feel the ambance of the moment. Shogun Posted January 7, 2012 Author #15 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Hi There, You can book a wave and the web cam folks will look for you and zoom in, would make a cool start to your video, I assume they would give you a copy. yours Shogun
tothemall&beyond Posted January 7, 2012 #16 Share Posted January 7, 2012 It is indeed a perfect cloudless, mid 70's, light breeze day down here today. We've been a bit chilly (for us) all week until today with nighttime lows in 30's and 40's. The port is busy today, but there are many days this time of year when it's even busier. It all depends on the timing of the 10 and 11 nt. So. Carib. cruises and whether they are in port on a Sat. or Sun. when all the 7 nt. cruises are in. Happy sailing to all. We were just on the Grand on her Dec. 10th sailing. PS Start watching the port webcam at about 3:45 pm, and you'll have a great show for more than 2 hrs. It'll give you wide angle views of the port and each ship, front views, rear views, port side views and some amazing zooms onto the port side of the promenade decks of all the ships as they sail out. On Princess ships, they are usually standing a deck or two below the Seawitch . I hope the sunny, warms days continue as we are so looking forward to our upcoming cruise. Bon Voyage! Shogun Posted January 7, 2012 Author #18 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Hi There From port web cam page View more Wave Photos Cruise ship Webcam "waves" are 100% free of charge. We will take control of our HDTV camera and zoom in on the "wavers". Sail-away replay video and still image captures can be viewed later through our webcam archive: PortFever.com If we are around during the wave, we will be more than happy to take professional high resolution close-up photographs with our 300mm zoom lens. If we do take photographs of your wave, they will be posted on InletPhotos.com and will be available for purchase in high resolution format for blow-up prints, framing, to create tee-shirts, post cards, calendars etc. Sail-away video is not currently available for sale but we are planning to bring that feature to you before the end of 2011. Please fill out the form below to submit the request. Include a cell phone number of someone participating in the wave so we can call you the day of your cruise for communication between the camera operator and "Wavers". Very important that you also provide your intended location on the ship during sail-away e.g. port side balcony cabin number, exact top deck railing position, bridge wing, etc. and details of a unique identifier like a colored banner or flag. Our webcam and photographer can only see the bow, port side and aft of vessels leaving the port. Your location must be in one of those areas. If you have a banner, make sure you also bring something (rope or tape) to secure it to the railings... it can be windy! If you would like to borrow one of our banners shown above (subject to availability), please request in the comments section below. The more advance your notice, the better. However, due to the volume of requests we regret that we are unable to personally respond or confirm. We do receive all requests and add them to our calendar. Barring unforeseen circumstances or technical outage, we intend to cover all cruise ship sail-aways with our HD webcam. Please remember that we cannot guarantee that we will find you on any particular sail-away or that we will be available at Port Everglades to take hi-res photographs. NOTE : We are not currently accepting wave requests for either our Port Canaveral or NY Harbor webcam locations. If you would like to be seen by our webcams during sail-aways at those ports, please read the "Webcam Waves" page on each site. Enjoy your cruise! yours Shogun
