San Juan Hotel Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a good, clean, safe, reasonably priced hotel in San Juan? Will be staying 2 to 3 nights pre cruise the latter part of January or early February. We usually travel with a group of 20 to 25 friends. Any help would be appreciated.

We stayed at the Doubletree in the Condado area, it was very nice. It is walking distant to the beach and resteraunts. Also 24 hour grocery store across the street. We did our booking online through their website. I kept watching the prices and we got a king, balcony, pool view for $135.00 a night. It was great we walked out our balcony right to the pool. We stayed there for 5 nights.

We've stayed at the Caribe Hilton before/after 3 cruises, and once for a one week land vacation. So I guess we like it. Not sure when the above poster stayed at the DoubleTree - 135.00 is a great rate in San Juan if it was during January or February.

The Caribe is on the water with their own small beach, and a short/cheap taxi ride to Old San Juan. Small grocery/liquor/beer store and a Subway sandwich shop very close by.

We stayed there this past January. I did get lucky, when I originally booked that room was going for over $200.00.

We have stayed at both the Sheraton Old San Juan and the Verdanza. Both are nice, Verdanza is close to airport and 1 short block to the beach. Several places to eat ans shop are near both. This year we are trying the Casa Blanca for both pre and post, got a good deal with one of the online hotels sites.

Priceline is the way to go for the best deal for sure. Just put 4 stars/resorts and it has always worked out for me to get the room half off.

Exactly. All of the resort hotels in the Condado area are great. Do a little research and save some money. :)
