Seabourntraveller Posted June 12, 2012 Author #1301 Share Posted June 12, 2012 Post Breakfast Update;-At Sea Just came back from breakast in the Colonnade and it was very very quiet. I had a light breakfast O.J. and a croissant and cheese and cold cuts and that was it for the morning as we have Galley Market Lunch at twelve noon today in the Restaurant. We have 349 nautical miles to go until we reach Oslo tomorrow morning and our current speed is 14.9 knots with calmer seas this morning cloudy skies now which have completed covered over and is overcast currently with a temperature of 10C or 50F.....can you say Bbbrrrrrrrr again! I thought I would go and test my luck in the casino after breakfast and sat down at a slot machine and the place was empty and won $909.40 after 5 spins.....might go back later today and test it again...stay tuned! More to come from the Sojourn at Sea enroute for Oslo, Norway.

Billichka; to be honest I don't believe they will have it at all on the Legend because the Patio Grill has a fixed menu that NEVER changes on the Legend or small sisters. Seabourntraveller Posted June 13, 2012 Author #1308 Share Posted June 13, 2012 Day 41 Arrival into Oslo, 10:00am-8:00pm; Good very early morning from the sleepy Sojourn, enroute currently for Oslo. We are scheduled to arrive at 10:00am or in 4.5 hours time. The entry into Oslo thru the archipelago is another must see just as Stockholm. In case you miss it don't worry the 3 hour transit is excatly the same leaving Oslo as well. We had a major malfunction yesterday of the satelite system whereby our system went completely down for the Icafe system and then also our satelite in the region above us went POOF and we had to relocate our signal accross the Atlantic into the Caribbean if you can imagine as nothing else was closer. The outage lasted some 11 + hours yesterday. Current temperature is 8C or 46F and under overcast skies....bbbbrrrr gain today looks like! We also have very strong winds this morning making for some movement 32 m.p.h. or 8 on the beaufort scale. About to throw a load of laundry now in the Launderette....shold be safe at 5:30am and then go see Annie in Seabourn Square at 6:15am. Both the Restaurant and the Colonnade open today for breakfast at 8:00am. More to come later this morning from the Sojourn enroute for Oslo.

Emperor Norton Posted June 13, 2012 #1312 Share Posted June 13, 2012 It's too bad Seabourn has not included Sonoma wines! Winner While most of the world has probably heard of Napa, Sonoma is less well known and imo doesn't quite match up. Now if they wanted to add some wines from the Russian river... Seabourntraveller Posted June 13, 2012 Author #1313 Share Posted June 13, 2012 Post Breakfast Update; Just came back from the Colonnade and it was starting to get busy at almost 9:00am. We just had an accouncement from Captain Buer telling us that we should be arriving into Oslo earlier than scheduled in the next 30-40 minutes and hopefully would be tied up and moored alongside our berth by 9:45am. The weather has not improved at all and is currently 10C or 50F and overcast skies...looks to rain actually. Seabourn Square is unusually quiet this morning as well as I don't know if most people are sleeping in and taking advantage of our late arrival of 10:00am into Oslo. More to come later today from the Sojourn about to arrive into Oslo in 30 minutes time....stay tuned!
screwcork Posted June 13, 2012 #1314 Share Posted June 13, 2012 Welcome to Oslo - hopefully the weather will improve during the day! One recommendation: The Oslo Pass (NOK 270,-) The Oslo Pass gives you free entry to more than 30 museums and attractions, free travel on all public transport, free parking in municipal car parks, free entry to outdoor swimming pools, free walking tours, discounts on sightseeing, car hire, ski simulator, Tusenfryd Amusement Park, ski rental, and special offers in restaurants, shops, entertainment and leisure venues. You decide whether you want a card that is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours. The card is valid from the time you stamp it. From that moment, it is valid for the number of hours indicated on it. Along with the Oslo Pass, you will receive a booklet, describing all the benefits for Oslo Pass holders. An Oslo Pass for children is available at a reduced rate. The pass is valid in all attractions that are described in the Oslo Pass booklet and entitles you to an unlimited travel by metro, bus, tram, local trains and on the ferry boats to the islands in the inner Oslo fjord. Now if they wanted to add some wines from the Russian river... *******!!!:D Would that be Martinelli Zin or ******* Brandy? Interesting that the automatic censor has removed a word that appears on the label of one of the best zinfandels ( Martinelli ******* Hill ) from Russian River - confused again! Certainly wouldn't happen this side of the pond.
Seabourntraveller Posted June 13, 2012 Author #1316 Share Posted June 13, 2012 Mid Afternoon Update;-Oslo, Norway Just came back from ashore here in Oslo, Norway and headed up to Afternoon Tea for some scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam...yummm. The weather has improved since we first arrived and is currently 18C or 65F and partly cloudy skies. We had the Costa Romantica and the Eurodam with us here today making for a very busy port. Again the City Centre Information Kiosk is your best bet for any and all information for tours, sightseeing and ideas as to what to do in your limited time in Oslo. The ship only offers 3 tours which are "Vigeland Park & Viking Ships", "Munch Museum, Vigeland & Opera House" and Ice Bar & City Highlights $99 to $84.00 per person. More to come later today from the Sojourn here in Oslo unti 8:00pm.

fairbourne Posted June 13, 2012 #1319 Share Posted June 13, 2012 Where have you been in the past 5 days woman?:confused:Just about to "pull the trigger" and make an annoucement soon...just don't put away those slippers just yet!;) Was enjoying "lurking"! LOL! Had a bit of a whoopsie a couple of days ago, fell down some steps in the garden and went head on into a rose bed, knocking the dog and a fence over - a rather rickety one I hasten to add, the fence not the dog but he did provide a softer landing as he is a big, rotund chap - resulting in a badly sprained ankle (no driving this week for moi) and bruised everything! But feeling much better today. ;). I still have my SB slippers and take them or other suitably impressive logo'd ones when on our travels, especially where slippers are not provided. Can't wait to hear your plans! :D

Seabourntraveller Posted June 13, 2012 Author #1322 Share Posted June 13, 2012 Departure from Oslo, Norway Enroute to Gothemburg, Sweden; We have just left approx. 1 hour ago about 15 minutes late from Oslo, Norway and are now in the inside passage heading out towards open seas tonight around midnight. Current temperature is 14C or 57F under sunny skies and wind gusts of 37 m.p.h. or 8 on the beaufort scale. We have some 165 nautical miles before we reach Gothemburg, Sweden tomorrow morning at 8:00am. We will have to cruise at a speed of 15 knots overnight in order to arrive at 8:00am. The Patio Grill tonight was PACKED. Everyone had the same idea to arrive at 7:30am and get a bite to eat while the ship was still in port. I ordered the Veal Chop with a side order of Pasta which was amazing. For dessert I had the chocolate meringue cake and then called it a night. For some reason people thought it was warm enough and we had several couples in the jaccuzzi's and pool while we were eating dinner. Eventually the pool deck hands asked the people to get out of the pool and jaccuzzi's as they were closing them for the evening. More to come from the Sojourn enroute currently for Gothemburg, Sweden.
PaulaJK Posted June 13, 2012 #1323 Share Posted June 13, 2012 ST, Your weather reports are making me shiver. I'm about to run up to the attic to haul out my winter gear! Was the Rock The Boat party able to be held outdoors? I realize that you are working quite a bit but did the other pax seem to enjoy the entertainment offerings [important to us] as well as dinner in the MDR? kathy16 Posted June 13, 2012 #1324 Share Posted June 13, 2012 That WASN'T very nice for the pool deck crew to throw the passengers out of the hot tub as they were finally able to relax in them. That is one of our favorite places to relax after we have been sightseeing all day. We are paying big bucks for this cruise- we should be able to enjoy the hot tubs!!! PaulaJK Posted June 13, 2012 #1325 Share Posted June 13, 2012 Sorry to be a wet towel... but most cruise lines these days close their pools and hot tubs for both safety/liability reasons and for staffing reasons. If the facilities were scheduled to close at a certain time, then passengers were hardly being thrown out. However, if you really wish longer hours on a certain cruise, why not speak with the hotel director and see if you can obtain same.
