grand isle joe Posted May 17, 2012 #51 Share Posted May 17, 2012 I think you can find Gatorade powder - mix up your own on board and a lot easier to transport than all those bottles or cans. ...yea there's plenty of Gatorade around now that the government is shuttering the space program.....stop by NASA at Port Canaveral on your way to the pier....;)
Ocean Dancer Posted May 17, 2012 #52 Share Posted May 17, 2012 Was there any resolution to the Smith case, that we know of? Yes, she settled for an undisclosed amount, probably in the millions, and recently got remarried. His body was never found.
teajak Posted May 17, 2012 #53 Share Posted May 17, 2012 Was there any resolution to the Smith case, that we know of?Yes,the wife that was too drunk to know her new husband wasn't in the room was given a large settlement by RCI,the actual amount was not disclosed. bplazo Posted May 17, 2012 #54 Share Posted May 17, 2012 If booze is your primary drive in selecting a cruise line, I think you should go with Carnival "the Fun Ships". What a shame! I do not understand why you said "What a shame". We have always cruised with RCCL but have not agreed with some of their policies so we have decided to cruise other lines and we tried Carnival and it was a great cruise and my husband was thrilled that he could bring some wine on board to drink in the room. We missed some of RCCL perks but we had a great time on the other line and on our next cruise we are booked with Celiberity. Sometimes change is good. It's up to the passenger to make the decision. Unfortunately the RCI cheerleaders jump all over you if you make a complaint or disagree with RCI policies. Some nasty posts on here. The OP has a good point. The charges for alcohol and soft drinks is excessive. I don't drink so it doesn't affect me, but I do agree with the OP. Ouch and Ouch! If the space shuttle uses Gatorade, they would have to have water to mix it with...would it really matter if it were powder or not? However, it should be good for me. Cool I found it! I should be ok with the powdered stuff as long as I have that. Not sure why both would be a problem but ok...
bunker1706 Posted May 17, 2012 #60 Share Posted May 17, 2012 I love to drink just as much as the next guy, but I would never give up cruising an entire cruise line over a bottle of wine/champagne. So would you give up cruising entirely if every line were to start enforcing the not being able to bring alcohol on board policy? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. KeywestK Posted May 18, 2012 #62 Share Posted May 18, 2012 DH and I enjoy our wine, but I would not choose or discount a cruise line strictly on their wine policy. What I don't understand is that Celebrity, which is owned by Royal Caribbean, allows one bottle of wine per adult passenger in carry on bags, and RCI doesn't. In any event, the OP is entitled to pick and choose a cruise line based on what best meets their needs.
BND Posted May 18, 2012 #63 Share Posted May 18, 2012 ...yea there's plenty of Gatorade around now that the government is shuttering the space program.....stop by NASA at Port Canaveral on your way to the pier....;) Actually, it was Tang, not Gatorade that the astronauts drank. I remember the commercials when I was a kid. (Yes, I'm that old lol) That said, even when we cruise on Princess and Carnival, we didn't even both to carry one bottle of wine on. Too much of a pain and adds extra unnecessary weight. Easier to just order ahead of time or buy onboard.
Griswolds Posted May 18, 2012 #64 Share Posted May 18, 2012 Just a tip, we buy powdered Gatorade at the local big box stores. Most grocery stores carry it now too. Try the aisle with the regular Gatorade or Kool Aid. Sometimes its also in the bulk food aisle. Ouch and Ouch! prc Posted May 18, 2012 #66 Share Posted May 18, 2012 If I understand your question correctly...On the shuttle, the water is not water to begin with. They mix hydrogen and oxygen to make their water. The water is a by product of power generation. 3 fuel cells onboard supplied all electrical power while in orbit. So much water is generated that after the space station's tanks were all filled (if docked), a lot would still need to be dumped into space! Iluvcruising2 Posted May 18, 2012 #68 Share Posted May 18, 2012 Just took a cruise with RCCI, had champagne and candy delivered to the room upon embarcation for DH's Birthday! Easy enough and it was a nice surprise. A very nice touch.

So would you give up cruising entirely if every line were to start enforcing the not being able to bring alcohol on board policy? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. Lots of people wont cruise Disney because their ships don't have a casino. I don't gamble so it doesn't matter to me but everyone looks for different things in a vacation. I do find it a little funny that some are saying how ridiculous the op is for not wanting to sail since they can't bring their own booze yet there are countless threads about smuggling. Apparently those people can't live without their booze either. This situation is no different.

What an ignorant statement to make. I didn't see sloppy drunks on carnival nor royal. People here live in denial. THE SAME TYPE OF PEOPLE SAIL ROYAL AND CARNIVAL. I know some like to feel better than others by sailing royal but it isn't the case. Both are mass market lines that cater to the same demographic. cruiseMI82 Posted May 18, 2012 #74 Share Posted May 18, 2012 hasn't the OP started this thread multiple times recently? and don't they make their font larger and larger each time? Just go to carnival and let it die already.

I think what most people find ridiculous Is the fact that the OP has sailed RCI ten times and even stated back in 2008 that they were the only cruise line that doesn't allow booze but is just now making a big deal out of it like she didnt know their policy and will not sail with them again because of it. That's just purely speculation on my part of course though. :) Whew! What a runon sentence that was!
