Mysteryreader Posted June 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2012 (edited) We sailed on Infinity Panama Canal cruise in fall 2009. The a cappella group the Dockers were sensational. As the cruise went along, their performances reached SRO popularity. We just returned 6/17 from Summit Bermuda cruise. The a cappella group onboard was Up Till Two, and they had an audience from the beginning. But IMO they don't compare. Even dh, who isn't really into the musical performances, remarked on how the Dockers were so much better. (In UTT's defense, they mentioned how they're usually a 6-man group and had to reduce to 4 for the cruise so that might be a factor.) So my question is: are the Dockers still performing on X? A check of their website wasn't very informative so I'm suspecting they may have disbanded. BTW, there are some You Tube videos is you're interested in seeing how good the Dockers are/were. Rare Essiesmom Posted June 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2012 There were acapella quartets on Solstice last year, and Millie in Feb. Must be on every ship. Neither were Dockers. EM
Orator Posted June 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2012 There were acapella quartets on Solstice last year, and Millie in Feb. Must be on every ship. Neither were Dockers. EM All the ships have them. Basically do the same act. They are composed of interchangeable pieces so the lead tenor might be with one group and shifted to another. chubsmahoo Posted January 13, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2014 This is Owen from The Dockers. You unfortunately caught us on our ONLY contract together on Celebrity Cruises. I stayed on ships until this past March, singing in various a cappella groups, as well as the Solo Guitarist/Vocalst, However, we have all moved on to our own individual projects. if you would like to keep up with us, we would love your support, and who knows - maybe we'll get together and do some more a cappella! chubsmahoo Posted January 13, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2014 Celebrity has cut a cappella before, just to give it a little break, and brought it back after a little revamp/refresher. Celebrity is doing a big rebranding right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if a cappella were back on board in the future.

yogimax Posted January 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2014 I think I read on CC that Celebrity was phasing out the a capella groups. I hope not. We enjoy them multiple times on cruises. Anyone have any additional information?
