Where are the Carnival Fans???

You know what really surprises me is that there are SO many people here in the Carnival section that dislike Carnival! Not that you don't have every right to participate in ANY thread you wish. I'm just surprised there are so many who come to this section to express their displeasure about Carnival. Is this a routine thing? Do folks go to the NCL section to trash talk NCL? Although I've cruised with them 4 or 5 times, I've had some poor experiences that made me quit cruising with NCL. I'm sure many people love them but because I don't, I don't think I have ever been to the NCL section of CC! So I guess I'm curious why many seem to come to the Carnival section to tell of their dislike of Carnival. Oddly there seem to be very few who actually like Carnival, yet by industry standards they are one of the most successful cruise lines so SOMEONE MUST LIKE THEM! Just wondering what the motivation is for a non Carnival fan to even visit this section??? :confused:

I absolutely agree with you! I've been on 9 Carnival cruises, with 2 more booked for the future. I will say Celebrity is my favorite line but they don't sail the Caribbean year round. I feel sorry for a new cruiser...either a first time cruiser or someone taking their first Carnival cruise, because if they read ship's reviews under the Review section, they'd be horrified and think they'd wasted their money! And if they believed everything they read here they'd worry about things that most likely won't happen to them.

Hi Jana60, I always wonder the same thing. If you don't like CCL, why not post on the board of cruiseline you do like. My guess is that those boards are dead. CCL's board is very active, therefore they feel they'll be heard here.

 

I am one of the people who actually like CCL. I have even been accused of being a cheerleader- oh well. I guess I am a positive person in real life, so I am a positive person on here. My late father's favorite quote was "if you can't say something good, then don't say anything at all." I try to live by that. Of course I have had dissappointments on CCL & in life in general, but try to focus on the good instead of the bad.

I can understand a fan of Carnival expressing somthing they wish would improve but some of the folks come here and say they hate the food, the entertainment, the physical appearance, etc......and literally don't seem to LIKE anything so it begs to question why they are even here. Is it to try to convince the rest of us to dislike Carnival also? Many of the people critical of Carnival have not even sailed with Carnival or at least have not sailed in many years. I had a person on a thread in THIS section telling me how Carnival has gone downhill. When I disaggreed, he said, "your just not current on your information". PLEASE NOTE: My last Carnival Cruise was 2 months ago. His last Carnival Cruise was 4 years ago! :rolleyes:

We were once happy CCL fans. Over the years CCL has changed and not for the better according to most that have been here over the years.

I wonder the same thing. There are a few here who post almost nothing but negative things about Carnival, day in and day out. I don't understand why they would want to be here if they don't like Carnival. I know that if I didn't enjoy a cruise line I might post my review of our cruise on the ship, but I wouldn't be going to that cruise line's board here on CC every day, or...ever, I'm sure. :confused:

I love cruising on carnival. I may not be a "typical" carnival cruiser: I've never stepped foot in the casino; I only have one mixed drink a day; I don't smuggle booze;I don't go to the hairy chest contest; I'm not a chair hog, in fact I rarely sit by the pool or get in it.

I love the value I get from my cruise. I love being rocked to sleep at night. I enjoy the productions in the showroom. I like eating in the MDR. I enjoy talking to the crew. I like looking at the ocean. I like meeting new people from all over the world.

Carnival has ports closer to where I live so I can drive to ships. I can afford to go once or twice a year. And its a lot more relaxing than going to a Theme Park.

why not choose a carnival topic, as opposed to a cruise critic topic, and see where it goes?

You are actually more "typical" than you realize. Yes there are those who love the Casino, drinking, pool etc... (my personal fav is the Karaoke!) but there are many who just enjoy finding a quiet spot to enjoy the ocean and like to do so at a price they can afford. I love a balcony for this purpose. My favorite thing is ordering coffee and rolls from room service in the morning and just sitting out there in my robe with my feet propped up sipping coffee and watching the ocean roll past. I also love being rocked to sleep by the waves.

Don's not a lurker, he just understands how it works. ;)

 

Fans are the ones that wait for the negativity to start and then get into a heated debate about why the non-Fan is wrong.

 

The rest of us just enjoy our cruises, express our pleasure and concerns in reviews and provide information to fellow and new cruisers that enjoy Carnival like we do.

I don't understand your question. I don't start many threads in any section and usually try to tailor the posting section to the subject so if I'm asking about cabin to select, I post in that section.

Diamond with 34 cruises 1 more cruise than i probably go to NCL i am angry with the beards for LYING to us with BRILLIANT new VIFP . CCl is the only line with NO repeating perks for top tier cruisers i used to be a rah rah cheerleader like sgt but no more

So here is the next big question. Why are the Carnival boards so negative and the other are not? Maybe, because we dislike the downward spiral Carnival is in with the quality of the product. Without openly discussing the extreme dislike of going to the MDR and seeing Denny's like food on my plate and the total lack of enforcement of even some of the basic rules by the crew, the hope becomes that Carnival gets the message. Without the open exchange of dislike, how would a company know? So the negative comments are a good thing.

We too, are relatively loyal Carnival cruisers, and yes, there are things that occasionally disappoint me when I sail, but I certainly don't let that ruin my entire cruise. Looking back, there were some things that I didn't like when cruising years ago, but that didn't stop me from enjoying my cruise then either, regardless of which line I happen to be sailing. Just my opinion, that lately, Carnival is the most "bang for the buck". ;)

That is very reasonable and if you are like me you probably hope that your concerns will get back to Carnivals ears and be acted upon. I don't know if that actually occurs but it is a reasonable hope. Some people seem to dislike EVERYTHING about Carnival and since it is unlikely that Carnival will change EVERYTHING I wonder why they are following the Carnival boards.
