Lucy Jane Posted August 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2012 On my Facebook page this morning I had at least 20 "welcome To roll call" notifications. Anyone else experience the same thing? Im booked on only one cruise and did not sign onto roll call. I'm thinking their computer program is corrupted.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Guess I am lucky -- I don't belong to Facebook -- so I am not getting those notifications.
hypercafe Posted August 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I blocked HAL on Facebook because I got so much stuff From them. Seems they have a full time Facebook person.
Himself Posted August 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I am glad I do not have a facebook page.
Cruising-along Posted August 9, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I haven't seen this, nor have I gotten too much from them on FB. I don't join their roll calls, and haven't gotten any notifications. OP, hopefully it was just a fluke.
sail7seas Posted August 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I NEVER sign up for HAL Facebook Roll Calls. Here's another reason to not. :D
lindaler Posted August 9, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2012 For me it has been over the last two days that I keep getting notices to sign up for the roll call for cruises I am not on. I have noticed their posting have increased in quantity recently.
sail7seas Posted August 9, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Is it really smart to blast all over Facebook that you will be traveling? Many people leave an empty house when they travel though, of course, some of us don't but why advertise..... IMO [/b]
startwin Posted August 9, 2012 #9 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I haven't had anything from them on my facebook page, but I do know that the roll call feature has been having some problems lately, according to the posts on HAL's page.
tangerinebunny Posted August 9, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Lucy Jane, I had nothing special from HAL on FB today. I admit that I do take advantage of their FB sweepstakes sign ups. It sounds like a computer glitch to me. But then most errors seem to get blamed on that.

NMLady Posted August 9, 2012 #12 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Hubby uses his Facebook page only for photos and news to/from family members. He hasn't had any HAL commuications.
PathfinderEss Posted August 9, 2012 #13 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I'm on face book, but never signed up with Hal. Guess it was a good thing, hearing what others are saying about it.
Lucy Jane Posted August 9, 2012 Author #14 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I NEVER sign up for HAL Facebook Roll Calls. Here's another reason to not. :D I did not sign up for roll call either but I've received 20 plus notifications for various cruises. I will have to "de-friend" them. NoobCruise Posted August 9, 2012 #15 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I had 1 yesterday and 1 this morning. I saw on HALs page that a few others have complained about it too.

Shmoo here Posted August 9, 2012 #17 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I don't do facebook. I really don't need to know when my cousin's sister-in-law is just getting to the shoe store. My sister signed up for FB just to enter a contest, and immediately (and I mean within 3 minutes) she had 25 people: "OMG, so glad you're finally here"; "It's about time"; "Got pepsi instead of coke today"; "my gardner just showed up"; etc, etc, etc. So she blocked everybody (if that's the term). :)

mamaofami Posted August 9, 2012 #19 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I've never signed onto HAL's Facebook page, but did receive several notices this morning for cruises I'm not even signed on for. I would never advertise on Facebook where and when I'm on vacation.
NoobCruise Posted August 9, 2012 #20 Share Posted August 9, 2012 HAL posted this response on their FB page this morning: we apologize to you and our other Fans who received multiple notifications in your newsfeed from our Roll Call application. We are going through testing for our soon-to-release enhanced Roll Call that includes all 2013 cruises. Unfortunately, we experienced a technical glitch in several large batches of our 500+ annual cruises and when it all adds up, we agree, that is quite a few! We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused! We are happy to let those who are cruising with us know that we think you will enjoy the newly refreshed and easy to navigate Roll Call, coming soon. If you have any questions or further comments please feel free to email us at Facebook@HollandAmerica.com. Thank you for being a fan of HAL cruises! solocanadian Posted August 9, 2012 #21 Share Posted August 9, 2012 I no longer do F/B. Wish I could cancel it - tried but it didn't work. I don't give a rat's A-- what my friends are thinking as they drive to XYZ Store or that "Joe Blow from Timbuctoo" have befriended F/B. Wish HAL would get off F/B. I'm so with you! I finally de-friended a few people. One felt the need to tell you when she gets a coffee. The other one had to let you know when she dropped her bracelet in the toilet. Some people really need to get a life.

MrsMuir Posted August 9, 2012 #25 Share Posted August 9, 2012 DH got on FB very briefly and decided he didn't like it. He tried to cancel and couldn't, no matter what he did. Finally he changed his location to Azerbaijan and was able to disconnect. Mrs M
