One Man's Review of the Caribbean Princess

Agree!! Way too much detail, getting bored waiting; get on with the cruise info; food seems to be the most important thing.

:) I don't know what to say except move on, this is how I'm writing my review and I appreciate your not enjoying it or getting any useful info from it, but this is what it is and I said that from the get go :). As much as I would love to just sit on the computer and get the whole review done in one shot my boss would not appreciate it or my students, or their parents or my dog or my friends or my family. Yes it's shocking but I do have a life to live, I'm just trying to pay it forward by trying to relate my vacation experience. I know this is Cruise Critic, but many people stay a night or two before and/or after a cruise and I would find hotel and restaurant info very helpful, thus I'm going to give the details of my experience. I do have a 4-day weekend coming up and hope to get the bulk of it in that time, so please by all means move on if you can't wait for me to finish my review :). Have a blessed day.

Fri. Nov. 9th,

 

My only plans for the day are enjoying the sun, sand and surf at the beach and meeting our group at a bar called Scandals in Wilton Manors to get our packets. We woke up to a glorious FLL morning. We went to The Deck restaurant in our resort, and CB consisted of juice and choice of bread; sandwich (white, wheat or rye), bagel, english muffin or croissant. I also ordered eggs benedict with my apple juice and bagel. It was all good and tasted fine and no gastrointestinal problems later, so no complaints about breakfast at the resort.

I had my wondrous day at the beach, and Terry had his day to run around on the strip all day. All of which is very exhausting work :p, so we went back to our room to rest before our meeting at 7p.m. I had the leftovers from the night before and Terry said he ate on the strip, so after a long shower removing sand from places sand should not be :o we both dozed on and off until about 6p.m. we both got ready and took the public bus down to the strip and ate at a place called Flavors of Italy Bistro. Terry got spaghetti and meatballs, and I got a Caesar Salad and a small pepperoni pizza. It was all good, Terry wasn't crazy about his, but mine was very good.

We stopped at a place called H20 Java Shop for dessert and I got the tiramisu, which was awesome! We got a taxi after that and headed to Scandals, which was way to crowded and smokey, so we did not stay long. About 9p.m. we head back to our room and called it a night, so we are well rested to start our adventure on the Caribbean Princess.

Please know there are more of us enjoying YOUR review then the few who don't seem appreciate it. The only complaint I have and I"m hoping it's something I'm doing wrong is the small size of the pictures... I'm not very computer savvy.... is there a way to view them full size? Thanks and keep up the wonderful review.

It's funny another fellow passenger and CC member and I were talking on the ship how one nice person gives you the strength to be nice to all the people who are not. We were observing some of our fellow passengers and how rude and hateful they act towards the crew. We both said we always try to be that nice person, after all these people are cooking, cleaning, waiting on and entertaining us, what's there to be so mean and hateful about? I guess it all balances out in the end, thank-you for being one of my nice people to remind me why I write this. I do appreciate all opinions even ones different than mine, but all these people complaining about how long I take to write this, when I clearly said from the get go I was, are confusing to me. Really their perpetuating the very thing they are complaining about, because I have to take time from my writing of the review to respond to them. That's a big part of why I put the survey with this review so you could leave your opinion that way without disrupting the flow of this review. Oh well c'est la vie I guess, many blessings to you all :p;):D:).

Thank-you, I enjoy this type of review because it feels as if your on the cruise with the person writing it. If I make one person feel that way then job accomplished :).

 

Do you double click on them? There is a way to post them bigger but I forgot how to do it, sorry :o. Maybe someone else more computer savoy can remind me how to post the pix bigger?

Sat. Nov. 10th,

 

Today is the big day, we have an 11a.m. time for the shuttle to Port Everglades. We went to the The Deck, I had scrambled eggs and bacon with my apple juice and a bagel.

 

The shuttle arrived on time and we got our first glimpse of the CB :), our home away from home for the next 7 nights :).

OMG *** Port Everglades? Princess? Both?, the system to get in this year sucked. It felt like it took forever, in never ending lines. The process is different this year for some reason and I don't know why exactly but it was not working. Okay there's one of my big complaints, the other being the temperature of the ship. It was hot everywhere I went, including our stateroom, and formal nights were just sheer torture. I do tend to run a little hotter than most people, but I never had a problem on the Emerald or the Ruby. So that's it you can stop here those are my only 2 complaints everything else was wonderful. If you don't want to read on that about sums up my review of the Caribbean Princess.

 

For those that would like to continue, the CB food pix are coming up :). We barely made lunch in the MDR, which tells you how long it took to get on, when we got there a little after 11a.m.

 

The rolls, oh those delicious rolls. If you've read my other review you know I love the Princess rolls and pastry, and they did not disappoint in the least this time. We both got the Avocado and Bay Shrimp for an app, mmmmmmm tasty :D. Terry had the Caccatori-Style Chicken Braised in a Tomato-Wine Sauce and I had Broiled Salmon with Lemon and Dill Sauce. We had one of the best waiters we have ever had on any cruise and his name is Janos. So if you get him, or I would request him, you will be so pampered. Food was very good to my tastes, I don't see or taste any decline in the quality of the food. Our lunch was suburb and for dessert Terry had banana ice cream and I had the Sherry Trifle, both very good to our tastes.

Hey sweetie!! Enjoying your review, doing one of my own for our Emerald cruise. We found embarkation horrific as well. We had a better experience on the Emerald with our food this time. Tried the Crown Grill, awesome! Looking forward to the rest of your review.
