ScottToronto Posted January 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2013 Good evening, Two years ago we used a limo service from Nice airport to Monte Carlo. I can't remember the name of the company but they were excellent. I am now starting to plan a future trip and would require transportation from Nice Airport to Eze (Chateau de la Chevre D'or. Could someone recommend a limo company? Much appreciated. With thanks, ScottToronto
Herman The Cat Posted January 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2013 Hi Scott, Have you considered renting a car? I believe the Chateau Chevre d'Or has parking. If you were there for a few days and wanted to tool around that might make sense. However, then you have to return the car! Did you check the ports of call board? I have gotten some terrific transportation recommendations from those boards. Alternatively, there is the helicopter from Nice to Monte Carlo! :) Cheers, L. Robroy Posted January 25, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2013 Scott, Nice Airport Shuttle gets good reviews. We plan to use them ourselves this April from Nice to Monaco. Rob

NattilyAttired Posted January 25, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 25, 2013 Scott: Laurie and I took the helicopter (previously mentioned by another) from Nice to Monte Carlo prior to our cruise with you in 2009. It was breathtaking. You would still have a short ride to Eze, but the whirlybird is fast and the ride of a lifetime. Kort
margbem Posted January 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2013 We used friend-in-france.com for our transfers last year. They are an English speaking service run by an English lady. No more expensive than a cab and you know they will take you exactly where you want to go.

Mr Luxury Posted January 31, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) When staying at Chateau de la Chevre D'or I book the limo transfer from Nice airport with the concierge, as I have just done for my stay in August. The price is 140 Euros. Edited January 31, 2013 by Mr Luxury

Emtbsam Posted January 31, 2013 #13 Share Posted January 31, 2013 The bus is I euro. I like the way you think! The only issue with the bus is luggage. In Eze, you have to get it up the hill to the Chateau de la Chevre d'Or from the bus stop. I suppose you could call the Concierge and have them send a bellman. Rare RachelG Posted February 1, 2013 #14 Share Posted February 1, 2013 I have taken the bus several times in this area. It is fine, except for the luggage issue. I definitely use it when sightseeing along the riviera
UKCruiseJeff Posted February 1, 2013 #15 Share Posted February 1, 2013 One of the great bargains of the world is the 1 euro fare on the Cote D'azur. The idea that you can take a bus from Nice to Monaco for 1 euro is wonderful. You can go from Nice for lunc at Colombe D'Or for a euro. Luggage is a problem .... my post was a bit tongue in cheek ......l:)
ScottToronto Posted January 19, 2014 Author #16 Share Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) Good afternoon, I haven't reserved my transfers yet. Any more recommendations? Greatly appreciate your help. Emtbsam Posted January 20, 2014 #17 Share Posted January 20, 2014 If I were doing it, I would either rent a car for several days or hop in a cab. I wouldn't make it complicated by trying to find a limo. We travel with way too much luggage and have rarely had a problem fitting it into a cab. Herman The Cat Posted January 21, 2014 #20 Share Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Hi Scott, We used Alain from Dreamtours this past September to pick us up at Nice airport and take us to the Marriot in MC. He was great to deal with...responsive, confirmed the arrangements and was waiting for us. He had a brand new Fiat minivan. So if you want a limo, not sure if he has one of those as well. We really liked him...great sense of humor and friendly. Probably worth an inquiry. You may be able to price it on his website. Short ride to EZe, so as long as you arrange in advance anything should be ok. Will tell you more when i see you next on Toronto! Robroy Posted February 7, 2014 #21 Share Posted February 7, 2014 Hi Scott, My wife and I booked Alain from Dreamtours between Nice and Monaco last April and I agree with Herman - he was excellent. Quick to respond to my email, on-time, informative and an excellent driver. His van was very clean and modern. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. Have a great trip! ScottToronto Posted February 7, 2014 Author #22 Share Posted February 7, 2014 Good evening Rob from Toronto, Canada. We`ve booked with Alain. You are so right.....he replied to his email promptly and his rates were good. Thanks for confirming we made the correct choice by booking with Alain. Have you been to Chateau de la Chevre D`or. Thanks for your best wishes. We are looking forward to our next Silversea voyage onboard the Wind. Kind regards and thanks, Scott
Robroy Posted February 11, 2014 #23 Share Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Hi Scott, Glad to hear you had success with Alain. To answer your question - no, we haven't visited there. Our trip with him was strictly from Nice to Monte Carlo to board the Spirit last April. Hope you have a great time! It'll be refreshing to get away from this "winter wonderland"!!!!! sakaara Posted June 12, 2014 #24 Share Posted June 12, 2014 We decided to use Dream Tours after reading glowing reports by trustworthy cruise critic members here on the Silversea board. We booked Dream tours for an airport transfer from Nice Airport to Our hotel the Royal Riviera in Cap Ferrat as their return quote was €110.00 and our hotel was €170.00 each way. On arrival at Nice on 29th May everything went smoothly. Our driver Frederic was pleasant and he offered to take us on the scenic route. No problems except the mini van was just ok. A Fiat that had a very strong cigarette odour. For the return on Monday 02 June I confirmed a 12.00pm pick up and also enquired if this was sufficient time for a 3pm flight. I was assured it was. On Monday morning we were contacted to advise that our driver was delayed in traffic in Cannes and would pick us up at 12.30pm. We were assured not to worry we had plant of time. At 12.35 I was worried as there was still no sign of a car. I called Alain who assured me all was ok, he would ring me straight back and advise where our driver was. Alain called me and said our Lady driver was at Villa Ephrussi just beside our hotel. By 12.45 still no driver. I called Alain again, I was very upset and annoyed by now. He gave me her number but not her name.i couldn't reach her as she wasn't answering her phone. Alain then called to say she was at reception but we had already left! I told him I was standing in reception and no one had come in! Lies, Lie, and more Lies! We asked the concierge to call us a taxi. Our transfer arrived at 13.10 and concierge cancelled our taxi. The Dream Tours car was better this time, an Estate black Mercedes. We asked our driver if he could drive as quick as possible and explained our previous car hadn't arrived. He apparently had NO English! shortly after leaving our hotel we arrived at a dead end! I didn't know if he was trying to delay us further or if he honestly hadn't a clue where he was going…It was a scary situation. We demanded to be brought straight back to the hotel, and I rang the concierge at the same time to reinstate our taxi. This was so embarrassing as i had previously cancelled our transfer with the same concierge. I felt like a cheapskate and a total idiot. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because both the concierge and our subsequent taxi told us they noted the licence plate of our driver, (I photographed his licence plate too), it had EP 60 on the side which is a EuropCar rental. An Illegal driver! Rental cars have numbers 76,01,60 as a way of identifying the rental company. Apparently there is a big problem in France, whereby a lot of non licenced people rent corporate cars and travel down from Paris and Lyon for work but have no Insurance to drive people. The driver is insured but not the passengers in the car. This was widespread during the taxi strike at the most recent Cannes Film Festival our driver explained to us. He also advised me to contact Alain in Dream Tours and find out who would have insured us in the event of an accident… Would Dream Tours ? Alain was really useless as far as i am concerned. I would never use them again and I highly recommend others not to either. Alain never replied to my question about insurance or where our first driver disappeared to. With regard to the driver who got lost, his explanation was laughable… Dream Tours use 2 other companies the trust when they are busy and our driver was new but he is also a body guard, with a licence. He must think we are idiots! We luckily didn't miss our flight as thankfully it was delayed until 4.20pm. I was never so thrilled to see a flight delayed! I wanted to advise prospective cruise passengers to be aware of the dangers of booking through a company such as Dream Tours that uses second and third party companies with unvetted cars and unlicensed drivers, and finding out the hard way that a missed flight would be the least of your worries, having no insurance is a very serious position to unknowingly be in should there be an accident. Should anyone be in need of a reliable, safe , luxurious transfer from Nice or a driver around the Cotes D'Azur , our Driver was Andre From Andre Taxi who owns the main company for taxis around St Jean - Cap- Ferrat. He is a charming man who also drove us to VilleFranche for dinner one evening and who the Hotel Royal Riviera uses as their taxi company. Incidentally he charged us €70.00, an excellent deal. UKCruiseJeff Posted June 12, 2014 #25 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Hi Sakaara, Really sorry to hear of your experience. You may have read or recall, wifey and I have at various points had places and moved between St Jean, Nice, Villefranche etc. My advice has always been to pick up a cab both ways or if travelling light the busses. The Royal Riviera is in fact in Bealieu-sur-Mer not St Jean whatever the hotel description says and Beaulieu is a great place to stay ...... but anyway ...:) At Nice airport the taxi ride to and from St Jean / Beaulieu is popular and profitable and if you ask the concierge at St Jean in good time for the return there's never going to be a problem. There's a taxi rank just down the road in Bealieu by the Casino. The only time i advise differently is booking a limo from the airport to Cannes during the various festivities and if you want to arrive in style. Your warning is directed at specific companies, but to be honest this is pretty much normal in the Cote D'Azur, and totally avoidable. The moment you were told he was delayed in Cannes and you were in Beaulieu , you should have cancelled. If you had simply asked the concierge if you had booked through him he would have sorted it. I hope you tried The Sloop in St Jean?
