fireflymd Posted March 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2013 I'd like to see if I am understanding correctly what costs extra during the cruise: 1) whatever is included in the Ultimate Soda & More Package: Soda in glass, mocktails, juices, shakes, floats, hot chocolate 2) Canned Soda Package: canned soda 3) whatever is included in the Cafe Selects Coffee Card: espresso based hot or cold drinks, brewed coffee, premium tea 4) Beer, Liquor, Wine 5) Ultimate Balcony Dining 6) Specialty Restaurants (surcharge) 7) Chef's Table 8) Ultimate Ship's Tour 9) Photos 10) The Sanctuary/Lotus Spa/Boutiques/Casino/some Scholarship at Sea programs Anything else I am missing? Is there a charge for bottled water?
Rare Waynetor Posted March 17, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2013 You will pay for bottled water. Juice is free at breakfast but not later. Anytime they ask for your shipboard card while asking for a service expect a charge. If not sure then ask. For the movies under the stars the popcorn is free but other snacks are available for a fee
paul929207 Posted March 17, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2013 2. I don't think Princess has a soda can package. There is a charge for bottled water. Others: Internet, excursions, tips, gambling, anything in port

Cruisin' Chick Posted March 18, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 18, 2013 Although vast majority of room service is included, pizza delivery has a $3 charge (but have found it well worth it!). If you're not in a suite, there is a limited room service menu (suite passengers can get the MDR from what I heard). If all you want is a salad and/or sandwich, then you don't pay, except a tip for the delivery person would be in order. Somebody had posted a copy of the room service menu in the last couple of weeks, I believe.

IECalCruiser Posted March 18, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 18, 2013 dont forget lemon juice is free at lunch timeI think the complementary lemonade is only available in the Horizon Court. Hot chocolate is complementary at breakfast in the dining room. On our last Alaskan cruise there was complementary hot chocolate in the Horizon Court all day. There are complementary soft serve ice cream cones at Sundaes/Scoops.

skynight Posted March 18, 2013 #15 Share Posted March 18, 2013 I'd like to see if I am understanding correctly what costs extra during the cruise: Anything else I am missing? You missed the big one, the hotel charge(tips), $11.50pp/day ($12.00pp for mini suites and suites) is added to your on board account each day. Additionally, many people provide extra tips to their room steward, and to their waiter and ass't waiter if they had the same waiter most nights. It is also normal to tip room service, maybe a $ or two each delivery. There is no set standard, but many passengers have practices they use depending on what they order, and how frequently they order room service. Google CC for info on this. Stu K Posted March 18, 2013 #17 Share Posted March 18, 2013 Even with one or two little up charges i still think its a pretty good value vacation. Drink and port excursions are the biggest things that we spend on. Champagne free at art auction just done wave! Stu K
fireflymd Posted March 18, 2013 Author #18 Share Posted March 18, 2013 Thanks, folks! Just trying not to be unpleasantly surprised. I find the nuances a bit confusing. I already knew about the automatic tips--we're just going to include that as part of the cost of the cruise and tip on our own. Do we pay for soda in the glass at dinner in the MDR? Do we pay for regular coffee at dinner in the MDR? Even with one or two little up charges i still think its a pretty good value vacation. Drink and port excursions are the biggest things that we spend on. Champagne free at art auction just done wave! Stu K Too funny!:)

caribill Posted March 19, 2013 #20 Share Posted March 19, 2013 Yes, soda in the main dining room at night would have a charge. iced Tea, coffee, tea, water are all free. But if you have a soda sticker, no extra charge for the soda in the dining room. The free water does not include bottled water.
