danaps Posted March 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2013 MY DH is a smoker and yes, we have a balcony cabin on our Oasis cruise in April. My question is where else is there for smokers to go other than the casino. Do they have "special" smoking areas on the ship? Thanks for the help! :)

Thanks for the help! :) Usually one side of the pool deck allows smoking, I think it is starboard but it may vary ship to ship. Just look for the ashtrays. They also allow it in the casino on all nights except formal and some bars but not all. It gets listed in the daily compass. There is a cigar lounge but I dont know if they allow cigarette smoking in there as I have never gone. It is not allowed in most other public areas or cabins. FTLAUDER Posted March 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2013 My husband also smokes and he can puff on the pool deck, port side and at the Pool Bar. On deck 5 Boleros is a smoking bar also. The Dazzles club has smoking on their highest level deck 10.
CruisinMatt Posted March 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2013 Most all bars have a smoking section - that's where I head. Also, they sell cartons of cigs for around $25 for smoking on the ship, so don't spend tons bringing some from home!
dmackay46 Posted March 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2013 I take it there is no smoking inside any ship leaving from any UK port on their Europe itineraries? I always liked going to the Casino but was put off after coming out stinking every time. :(

I always liked going to the Casino but was put off after coming out stinking every time. :( On Independence from Southampton (and I assume Adventure) smoking is allowed on the balconies, part of one side of the pool deck, one side of the promenade deck (outside) and there is a smoker's lounge just before you go into the Pyramid Lounge.........that's it, there is no smoking in the casino or anywhere else inside the ship. We sailed on Jewel from Harwich last year and their smoking policy was nowhere near as strict and smoking was allowed in several venues throughout the ship including the casino - I don't know if this was because of the high number of europeans sailing on the itineraries from Harwich. Also, they sell cartons of cigs for around $25 for smoking on the ship, so don't spend tons bringing some from home! This is not correct at all. Most bars have NO smoking. Boleros was where we went and had a very small section for smoking. You can also sit at the bar in the casino...also VERY small section of a very large bar is designated for smokers. The last one is the dance club where all the kids are...ugh. That is about it.

3dog Posted March 24, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 24, 2013 They also allow it in the casino on all nights except formal and some bars but not all. On Oasis/Allure, one side of the casino (starboard side) is smoking, the other is not.
papaflamingo Posted March 24, 2013 #11 Share Posted March 24, 2013 We were on Allure two weeks ago. They have a "Cigars Under the Stars" area at night. It will be posted in the Cruise Compass. On Allure it was on the Port side above the Solarium. It is on the deck that is "Gold Card" members only. At night it is opened up for cigar smoking. Should be no problem for cigarettes. It is a beautiful open deck with a cover and very nice outdoor furniture. There is a bar and bartender there. We only do one cigar on the last formal night (a tradition started years ago). We went up there and there was only one other person. The bartender was very nice, so we had a brandy and our cigar, sat in the comfortable furniture and talked with the bartender. A very nice place to go for a quiet time in a beautiful setting. Your DH should check it out. I would assume Oasis would offer the same thing. reney313 Posted March 24, 2013 #13 Share Posted March 24, 2013 I went through and tried to list all of the places you can order drinks onboard and marked whether smoking or non smoking. I haven't been on Allure yet, so only going off what I have read in other posts/threads/reviews. I'm sure those that have been on the ship will correct anything that I might have wrong (I hope so anyway). Based on my list, I would not consider that "most" bars are smoking??? Non Smoking: Amber Theatre Bar- No Smoking Studio B Bar- No Smoking Comedy Live-No Smoking On Air Club- No Smoking Cafe Promenade/Sorrentos- No Smoking (not sure if they have the "small" bars at these locations like they do on other ships?) Rising Tide Bar- No Smoking Champagne Bar- No Smoking Diamond Club (Diamond and above members)- No Smoking Schooner Bar- No Smoking Rita's Cantina- No Smoking Boardwalk Bar- No Smoking Johnny Rockets- No Smoking Vintages- No Smoking Trellis Bar- No Smoking Concierge Club (Suite Guests, Pinnacle and D+ members)- No Smoking Main Dining Room- No Smoking 150 Central Park- No Smoking Park Cafe- No Smoking Giovanni's Table- No Smoking Chops Grill- No Smoking Spa Bistro- No Smoking Solarium Bistro/Samba Grill- No Smoking Solarium Bar-No Smoking Sand Bar- No Smoking Wipe Out Cafe-No Smoking Mast Bar- No Smoking Izumi- No Smoking Windjammer- No Smoking Wipe Out Bar- No Smoking Viking Crown Lounge- No Smoking Pinnacle Lounge- No Smoking No Smoking, I think?: Blaze-No Smoking (I think) Jazz on 4-No Smoking (I think) Bow and Stern - No Smoking (I think) Probably Smoking, I think?: Pool Bar- Smoking? Maybe? Sky Bar- Smoking? Maybe? Smoking: Casino- Smoking one side. Non Smoking other side. Boleros-Smoking at 6 stools at bar. No smoking at tables? (not sure if this accurate?) Dazzles- Smoking on top story only. Bottom floor Non Smoking

Nice sometimes to go in, have a cigar and nice cordial drink.:D Good Point. I was looking at the deck plan and didn't happen to notice it, but I may have missed it? It seems I have heard people talk about a cigar bar on Allure/Oasis. Or maybe it was just the cigar under the stars event up on the top deck? If so, that could be added. I know they do allow cigarette smoking in the cigar bar on other ships (Voyager/Freedom class).

OCruisers Posted March 25, 2013 #19 Share Posted March 25, 2013 MY DH is a smoker and yes, we have a balcony cabin on our Oasis cruise in April. My question is where else is there for smokers to go other than the casino. Do they have "special" smoking areas on the ship? Thanks for the help! :) We were on Oasis and yes there are not many but there are some. Inside ... Boleros has a small section but is conveniently located and nice. Dazzles upper level is OK . There's the casino with a section but not a good place to just go to smoke. Outside ... One of the Lido Bar areas has a rather large section with chairs and tables as well which is a decent & mostly covered area. Some went to the cigar bar above the Solarium. Look forward to having a great time on your Oasis cruise! :) LuLu ~~~~
roboref Posted March 25, 2013 #20 Share Posted March 25, 2013 Ships that have a cigar bar allow cigarette smoking as well. it is a very nice venue generally. I have only had one problem and that was when several women came in and lit up there cigarettes, then asked if I would stop smoking my cigar as it was really smelly. LOL I politely said this is "the cigar bar", I don't mind you smoking a cigarette in here but I won't be putting out my cigar. They crushed out their cigarettes and left in a huff. molly361 Posted March 25, 2013 #25 Share Posted March 25, 2013 You used to be able to smoke in the English Pub on the Promenade, not sure if that changed. Also you could smoke in a section of Blaze but maybe that is not the case as well.
