RCI Transfer in Barcelona

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have experience of using RCI transfer from Barcelona airport to the ship.

Was it efficient?

How long did it take?

Did they look after the luggage?

Anything else we should know?

Thanks

Dave

We used RCL transfers a couple years ago and it went well. We were met right after customs by a person with a sign with our name printed upon it. Then escorted to a waiting vehicle and zoomed to the ship. It was a van type vehicle with a few fellow passengers. We had to wheel our luggage out to the van but they took it after that. Went smooth. We being from the U.S. tipped our driver. RCL has always done a great job for us all the times we used this service.Hope it helped. Have a great cruise.:)

I've used the RCL transfers twice before, and using them in August again. For $69 per R/T it's peace of mind. When we exit customs there are RCL folks with their signs. They will guide you to the buses waiting, and it takes about 20 minutes from the airport to the cruise terminal. You must get your bags and bring them to the bus.

Ps. If you used RCL transfers in the US, the process is about the same.

Thanks everybody for your words of wisdom.

The only reason we are doing the RCI transfers this time is because my parents, who aren't so great on their feet anymore, are traveling with us and for their sake we want the least amount of hassle possible. I feel it will be worth paying the extra few euro's.

What a nice son. One tip that if you do use a taxi in Barcelona get a price before you get in. Some have been known to jack up the fee at the delivery zone. Have a wonderful family cruise.:)

Hi we had RCCL transfers when sailing on Liberty from Barcelona. We collected our luggage from the carousel and were met by RC reps and luggage was taken by porters to a van. We were then taken to the coach just outside the terminal and taken to another part of the airport to check in for the ship and get our sea passes etc.......there were a few big ships in port so they thought this would help speed things up.....which it did !!..we went then to the port cruise terminal and through security and straight onboard.

Great service and well looked after.

hope this helps

Sandra - That is perfect - Thank you for that info. I don't think we could ask for better than that.

I think we are the only ship in port that day or maybe one other if I remember correctly from my research. But that just sounds super!

What about going back to the airport from the ship. Is it easier (and cheaper) to get a taxi or the ships transfers?

If your flight is before 11:30 a.m. definitely use the ship transfers if you don't want to worry. The ship gets you off quickly so you get to the airport early. The taxi , which is cheaper, tends to back up and take more time. You can go to the port section on CC and get info on reserving a car service / taxi also.

Did you change your US money for Euros there or here before you left?

We have Euro here too so I will get a few dollars for tips and the casino here before we leave.

We make sure we have about 100 euros before we leave, for taxis and incidentals, and then use an ATM in Barcelona to get the rest of the cash we will need. We've found the ATM in Barcelona has a much better exchange rate than we can get in the US.

At the port terminal there are plenty of taxis, but you have to queue and can be up to 10 minutes, it really depends on how many ships are in.

You might be better checking out companies like holiday taxi's etc and be picked up at a set time. Remember all off the ship by 9am unless you pay extra to stay onboard.

We have managed a 10 30 flight using taxis, but be careful the price can be 30 to 45 euro,s one way.

Not all taxi drivers are honest.

Last time we prebooked our taxi and for a little extra was well worth it.

Drivers do not expect a tip but will appreciate it.

If you have a large party and looking for a shuttle service, we used Autos Vilar for transportation to our Hotel and again to the ship. We had 12 from the Hotel and I secured the shuttle, others used their service as well for shuttles. http://www.autosvilar.com/

We always use the same shuttle service. They are great! On time, clean and the drivers speak english.

We are a family of 5 and also used autosvilar for both pickup and drop off. They were awesome! Our flight was late arriving in Barcelona and they were great about checking times. We got off the boat early, so had to wait for them. We rented an apt 3 days precruise in Barcelona, and also hired them to take us from the apt to port. They were great with the door to door service and didn't collect fees until the very end. I would definitely use them again.

The RCi transfer worked great for us in Barcelona a couple of weeks ago. We picked up our cases at the carousel and were met after we exited customs. Our cases were taken and then on to the bus.

We were taken to another part of the airport to get our sea pass cards, 20 mins journey to the ship and once security was cleared we boarded.

Ok its not rocket science for a company like RCI to organise but in our opinion it was all very executed with RCI staff everywhere and a very good start to a great holiday.

Make sure you have your transfer document to hand.

Have a superb holiday.

If you have a family of four, would it be better to take the transfer or a cab to the ship. We are on the Serenade of the Seas in July. Would take any advice from experienced past cruisers. What recommendations of travel would you advise to get to ship for four people. Thanks in advance....

We were a family of 5 and were on the SOS last June. The taxis in Barcelona are very small, and it will be difficult to find a taxi that will fit 4 plus luggage. We used autosvilar and they were wonderful. They were quick to respond to email and questions, and didn't charge us until they picked us up from port to airport. It was definitely more economical to go with them them RCCLs transfers.
