Never book under Supersaver Back to Back.

I booked 2 cruises b2b under Supersaver ( didn't know it at the time) Yesterday, I was informed when you book under Supersaver, you get your stateroom when you check in. I told the person I have Back to Back cruises on the Liberty (2 weeks). She said that we will have to pack and our luggage will have be taken off the ship for the first week. For the second week, we will have to go through the check in process again and our stateroom assignment will be given to us on check in for the second week. Then we have to unpack our luggage again.

Also. when you book under Supersaver, you also cannot take advantage of the price going down. You are stuck with the price you paid.

I understand that you will be assigned different cabins because you booked a "guarantee" rate through Supersaver.

However, I don't understand why you would have to completely disembark with luggage. Friends of ours did a B2B with us where they received 2 different cabins through a guarantee rate. They only had to partially pack & the room steward got a trolley, put their stuff on it, & took them to their new cabin.

Your B2B should be "linked". I don't think whoever you talked to knew what they were doing.

How did you book? With a TA, PVP or DIY online?

With SuperSaver, Carnival assigns a cabin. You don't get to pick your own.

Who told you about the restrictions?

Too bad you weren't informed of this when you booked.

For me, the whole purpose of booking a B2B is to have the same cabin. I'm so anal, I would have made sure of that before I plopped down my deposit.

At any rate, I hope you enjoy the cruises.

I don't think the op has been assigned a cabin as of yet. Someone informed them they won't receive a room assignment till check in. So the op was told they will have to take everything off the ship and receive the room assignment for the second leg.

OP you will more than likely receive your room numbers before you set sail. But there is a possibility that they will wait till check in to assign the cabin number to you.

Next time read or ask about the fares before booking.

.

this is not true- you will be given instructions before the last night from the guest services on what is expected of you the next morning. They get you off and on with no waiting

if you do have two abins-- with more then likely you will. You will pack up and the cabin steward will move them to the next room.

I booked several months ago and think Supersaver was new at the time.

Yesterday, the personal cruise planner from Carnival called me, as the day before I looked at my cruise documents. She informed that we get our stateroom on check in for each cruise. I stated that I have back to back which she didn't know even though my TA put it on the request. I have always received the same cabin assignment when I booked b2b. I also called Customer service and they stated the same in which we have to pack and our luggage and get off the ship and check in again and then unpack. I didn't know I received under the Supersaver rate. Go to the Carnival web site and read up on Supersaver- you are locked into the price you paid.

If you choose to allow Carnival to choose your cabins and booked a gty, and say that you depended on your TA to fix this to get the same cabins .. I think you need to also put a little blame on yourself as gty clearly states they choose the cabins, not you.

btw I have done at least 4 BTBs and have yet to have the same cabin and each time I had to load up my luggage. Not once did I not have my cabin assignments until the day of departure. You TA is not very knowledgeable sounds like to me. Its possible but not probable

Also, not once in 4 times have I departed the ship with my luggage in spite of changing cabins. I changed cabins .. closed the door and introduced myself to the new cabin steward and then went to wait to be walked off the ship.. 4 times out of 4 times. They may be reading you some standard blurb.. but you need to read CC a little bit more as its not what happens.. you will not have to take your luggage off the ship.

Its true, you may not have your cabin assignment until you arrive at the port, but its highly unlikely.

A lot of what you assumed and say you were told is not quite right. I would not use this TA again you mention.

I ALWAYS know the rate code I booked under.. I could never find out later I booked supersaver and it was a gty, I would have asked at the time I booked. I think I understood guarantees from the beginning and would have done my homework. I think most people who post on CC for a while though have learned to know what rate type they booked under and its been stated 100 or more times on here you do not have rate protection after final payment unless you booked early saver.

Here is a link you might want to save and go over showing terms and conditions for different rates.

http://www.carnival.com/legal/specials-terms-conditions.aspx

I would find a new TA.

Exception to every rule--

Friends, doing a B2B on the Splendor actually had to get off the ship with their luggage. They had assigned cabins. This was in Long Beach.

OP- It's quite possible that Guest Services will have your cabin assignment for the second cruise.

was there a reason or did they just do that because that was what was expected?

was it a repositionning cruise?

Well now I am really confused. Why is a Carnival PVP calling you about your booking when you state that you booked through a TA? If you booked through a TA then Carnival should deal only with your TA.

I also have never had to take my luggage off the ship when doing a b2b. Have switched rooms everytime. As others stated you will more than likely know what cabin you are in before you sail. Have you looked at your booking on Carnival and at your documents to see if your room has been assigned?

I am worried now. I booked a supersaver B2B fully aware of all the restrictions but I never thought I would have to take luggage off the ship and then back on

One person had a friend (not even her) that she said had to take off luggage and does not even say what the unusual circumstances were that they did this.

Believe me this is unsual. It COULD happen .. lots of things COULD happen. But its very unlikely.

I can't imagine Carnival putting you out like that. If this is not resolved by embarkation day, I would head to guest service first thing. See if they can't get your cabin assignment while aboard or at the very least let you know where to put your luggage.

Unlike a lot of the Carnival website, the supersaver rules are quite clear. Not being able to pick your cabin is the reason we won't ever use it.

Sorry you are unhappy about this, but in the end it should be only a minor inconvenience. Your btb will be great. Enjoy

We've done a B2B in Long Beach and didn't have to take anything off the ship, we were in the same cabin so just left everything as is. We did have some delay getting back on the ship, but it was just us and our passports, no luggage.

I am confident that the OP won't have to remove her luggage on turn around day.

Just be sure that your 1st leg steward knows that you are on a B2B, but don't have your 2nd leg cabin assignment yet. Go to Guest Services during the 1st week and make sure they have you down as a B2B guest and they will be able to tell you what your new cabin will be (and it's possible that it will be the same one) then let your cabin steward and the new cabin steward know.

Perhaps the friend thought that was what she had to do when checking back in?

Same cabin would be nice, but with a guarantee, don't you get cabins not booked by someone else? So week 2, the cabin was likely already booked by someone else.

that was my first thought, that no one told her and she assumed she had to do it so she did it.

My first B2B on RCL I packed up and showed up in the atrium with my suitcases packed and thats when someone said oh you didnt have to do this and I was able to leave them behind the purser's desk while I was escorted on and off.
