Australians being taken advantage of by Princess

Here Here, we in Australia are cruising a lot more nowadays, but we also have to travel a long way to meet the cruises, ie, Alaska, Panama Canal, Carribbean and still dont get the benefits of our American cruisers. I have seen on some blogs that in America you can take advantage of price drops on fares after you have booked, this is something we do not have access to.

Sorry, I don't understand. The prices are similar (US$ 4799, AU$4961). AU$ is worth about 91 cents US. So taking that into account, the price is higher for US$.

Given those amounts - the cruise is cheaper for Aussies than for Americans (AU$ 4961 = US$ 4506.60). Explain to me then how it is that Aussies are getting ripped off when it is less expensive than the US pricing......http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=4961&From=AUD&To=USD

Just to clarify - I was agreeing with paul929207....I think we would both like to know how it is a rip off, when it comes in less expensive for Aussies when both priced in US dollars....

If you compare the suite, yes, AUD is cheaper, but if you compare the other categories, USD is cheaper.

 

Solution: just find a U.S. resident/citizen to share a cabin with you...then on the ship, change cabin, this way, you can book it at the lower rate...maybe we should start a site to match Americans and Aussies...

Princess also charges people from different states different amounts. All is not fare with fairs.

"Fairness" and "business" have nothing to do with each other. They can and will charge what the market will allow. Florida residents typically pay less than Colorado residents. If you don't like the fares, look at another cruise line. If Princess loses enough business, it will reconsider. Until then, such is life.

Yup, it's foolish to worry about what someone else is paying. If you can do better for your money elsewhere, do it. This isn't just cruise fares either. There are many consumer products that just cost less in the US.

Amazon and other big internet sites show different prices to different customers (or the same customer minutes later).

 

There's no law that says everybody has to pay the same.
