mommabean Posted August 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2013 As of 2 days ago the fee for cash withdrawal in the casino is no longer 3%. It is now 5%. On Enchantment of the Seas the new fee began on Friday, August 16. They told me this is the new fee on all of the ships which I would have assumed. I would think that any cruise that is mid-cruise would begin at the start of the next cruise. Although of course I don't know the exact start date for each ship. They did tell me it was in effect on all ships. "They" being the casino personnel. Gina

Rare Hlitner Posted August 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Just think...the casinos will steal your cash before they take it all! Got to love it. Hank
mommabean Posted August 19, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted August 19, 2013 And just another reason to not put yourself in the position to need cash from the casino ;) I didn't need it. I was withdrawing my non-refundable on board credit because I didn't want them to keep it. I couldn't spend it all in 3 days. Gina

39august Posted August 19, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2013 No need to get OBC refund from the casino! Just go to Guest Services on the last afternoon and get it back in cash. No charge.

JasonV1 Posted August 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Was 3% on the Oasis last week, must have just went up. Carnival still charges no fee, so their cash advance must be rather profitable (when they get all that money back from you). I don't find it fun to lose $10. Or more. ;) or 5% for that matter. Gina

mommabean Posted August 20, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted August 20, 2013 And for the record, when she told me it was now a 5% charge, I replied back, "does that mean we get the pens back in the rooms?" I don't think she got the joke. I know the extra 2% isn't going to buy us any pens. Gina
sandy toes Posted August 20, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 20, 2013 I have had friends that got the OBC so mixed up in the past...refundable vs non-refundable. It's a shame when people forget to claim "their" money. Glad you got yours but $5 on $100 is a bit much...IMHO
Kezzie62 Posted August 20, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Why not use the OBC to pay the gratuities. That's what we do. Then you don't have to worry about loosing it. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
canuckcruiselover Posted August 20, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 20, 2013 If you belong to Club Royale there is no fee for withdrawing money in the casino. However, it's a dubious honour to belong to Club Royale :)

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app Because when the cruise was booked only MTD was available. Although I normally book MTD anyway therefore gratuities must be paid before boarding. Many people opt for MTD - about half on some ships. Gia

However, it's a dubious honour to belong to Club Royale :) It may be dubious to many but not for me. I've received thousands in cash rebates and since I've been a member I have continued to be ahead of the game, although I have given back a lot of the houses money...the few times I did lose it was small and the next rebate more than covered the loss. But I agree- this club is for high rollers and I bet big...not for everyone but I stay within my own personal limits
phoenix1181 Posted August 20, 2013 #19 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Wow! That will certainly put a crimp in things for a lot of people. Good thing they don't charge for cashing travelers checks but that may change too.......
cb at sea Posted August 20, 2013 #20 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Just bring CASH to gamble with and to use ashore. There should be no need to take funds from your shipboard account. Just bring the cash you need....you can store it in your cabin safe.

ContessaK Posted August 20, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Questions about this OBC while you all are on the subject... I booked my cruises with a travel agency online. I received OBC for each cruise. How do I find out if its refundable or non-refundable? And when looking in Royal Caribbeans 'My Cruises' info section should I be able to confirm the amounts there or not? I don't want to get on board and there be some mistake and they say 'oh no, you don't have OBC' when I should...
Rare Shippy Posted August 20, 2013 #24 Share Posted August 20, 2013 If you belong to Club Royale there is no fee for withdrawing money in the casino. However, it's a dubious honour to belong to Club Royale :) No fee & it just goes on your sea pass account as a misc. expense so it does not look like a cash advance to your credit card company. Good way to get free cash & points on your credit card :O) Just because you take it out doesn't mean you have to spend it all in the casino

My DH & I are quarter slot players but do but max coin in & frequent the casino a lot. It is all about the points on you card....just like a land based casino but I find their perks more generous !
