I'm on Voyager next year 18 night Sydney to Perth via NZ Though I've never had lobster on any of my prior cruises, perhaps it's always the night that I'm not in the MDR
bazzaw Posted September 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2013 I don't recall any lobster on our VOS cruise earlier this year. Barry
The_Big_M Posted September 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2013 For some reason RCL don't generally do it on Australian cruises.
celle Posted September 2, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2013 Maybe I'm odd, but I've never been able to understand the big fuss about lobster night. Perhaps that's because we have crayfish downunder, which are much tastier than lobster.
Rare Sparky74 Posted September 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2013 I understand that on Australian itineraries RCI serve prawns (aka shrimp) instead of lobster. If they relied on me, anything that lives in the sea would die of old age!
David1951 Posted September 2, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2013 Never had a lobster night on my cruises so far, but I've eaten everything from snails to crocodiles on them
Pushka Posted September 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2013 No Lobster night on our Med cruise last year and we ate in the MDR every night except one.
Icerecon Posted September 2, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 2, 2013 We were on VoS Jan this year and there was no lobster night as such. But I do remember that you could purchase lobster of the menu in MDR for somewhere between $30 - $40 on certain nights.
AussieVisi2r Posted September 2, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 2, 2013 Only every had lobster night out of Us/Canada. But the big butterflied prawns (shrimp) are much better - so sweet!!!
Bluekat74 Posted September 2, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted September 2, 2013 Cool thanks. On the two cruises I've already been on, Lobster night was associated with the second formal night, so a lot of fun dressing up. Will definitely be interesting to see how the menu will be different then. Kylie
Dizziedi Posted September 4, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 4, 2013 No lobster nights on RCI out of Australia (sadly) but we have had lobster tail on Princess. Cheers Di
Rare mr walker Posted September 4, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 4, 2013 no lobster nights on our RC cruises, but we did have BBQ lobster tails for lunch one sea day in WJ on Radiance earlier this year :)
Aussie FF Posted September 4, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 4, 2013 Always had a 'giant shrimp' on RCI, in place of lobster.

Trekker954 Posted September 7, 2013 #17 Share Posted September 7, 2013 I've always had Lobster on all my RCI cruises 5 nights or more. I just had it on their sister company Celebrity British Isle cruise on the 2nd formal night.
Very Frequent Flyer Posted September 8, 2013 #18 Share Posted September 8, 2013 No lobster night on my 5 night cruise to Brisbane on the Radiance earlier this year. Instead, lobster was available in the main dining room for $34 extra. It tasted crap!!!!!

It's always available on the USA cruises but not necessarily elsewhere it seems.
Oz_Steve Posted September 12, 2013 #20 Share Posted September 12, 2013 We had lobster (free) in the MDR on our Caribbean Carnival cruise last year, they also had an excellent Surf and Turf (no upcharge) in the specialty restaurant.

Those that did get upscale priced lobster on the rare occasion out of Australia would have got the tasteless deep frozen lobster and I suspect that the "shrimps" we get are not fresh either.
