hi guys,

well i've been having a terrible time these past two weeks, so much so that i have lost all interest in my upcoming cruise with HAL on the 9th October. So in an effort to get me in the holiday mood again, what are the things I can look forward to? best dessert? funny little things?

anything really, just please cheer me up :(

Think of the wonderful stewards who work so hard to give us the best possible cruise. You won't have to make your bed, clean your bathroom, launder the towels and sheets, meal plan and grocery shop not to mention cook, serve and clean up.......

It's all good. :D

The ocean :) As other posters mention, falling asleep to the motion of the ocean. The smell of the ocean. The views of the ocean.

Somebody cooking and cleaning for you.

When we were onboard the Noordam, the flower arrangements in the public spaces were so beautiful, I could stand and look at them for a good long time.

Sitting out on the Aft Deck in the sun or the shade, whether you are underway or docked. Soothes one's mind.

Room service chocolate cake with raspberry coulis.

Creme brulee in the MDR.

Six varieties of Eggs Benedict in the morning in the Lido.

Yummy danish-type breakfast breads made from a croissant-like dough, with raisins. With unsalted butter slathered all over.

Hopefully, what ever is so bad at home, you will be getting away from it. Leave your cares behind, and do your best to disconnect from everything troublesome. Enjoy the relaxation, be pampered and do whatever floats your boat. Start hanging clothes together you plan to take, and get the incidentals together soon so packing is not too big of a chore.

thank you for all the lovely replies, they have made me feel much better.

after turning 40 a couple of weeks ago and my grandmother passing away on the same day, i've been having a tough time of funeral arrangements, families that can't co-exist and sorting out a mortgage at the same time. i swear i've aged about 10 years in as many days!

but i need to look forward to something now and this will be a chance to catch up on all that missed sleep (are the beds nice and firm?) and missed meals. coming on this forum late at night has kept me sane this past few days as i've lost myself for a little while in other members experiences. i've read menu's and imagined what i'd order, looked at the daily schedule and planned what i'd be doing, and been amazed by the photo's.

thank you all

comfy bed, knock on the door and breakfast served....where am i ? in a new port with all that brings, cocktails by the pool, leisurely lunch, dress up for dinner, meet new freinds. take in the show and a few pounds/dollars in the casino, walk round the promenade taking in the sea air with a nigthcap.... and so it goes on......

wish you well and please enjoy your cruise

Afternoon tea! And I second the walk around the promenade. I'm sorry about your grandmother and the difficulties you are facing. You definitely need a cruise. Just let the families know that there is no way they can reach you and they'll have to work things out without you. ;) Not really, but it works for me.

Lovely Other and Magandab:

On a Disney cruise, we were in the Atrium and watched a little boy, about 5 years old, simply flabbergasted at all the things around him.

(you imagine how beautiful and awesome it is to us as adults, but being 5, it must be overwhelming)

He looked up and saw Captain Mickey Mouse standing about 3 feet in front of him. His face lit up....he started stomping up and down in place....his little hands waving all over the place. Captain Mickey leaned down and got on one knee and reached out for him. The little boy went running to him and they hugged like long lost friends.

Everyone in the Atrium was mezmorized just watching the thrill this little boy was experiencing.

When he turned around and walked over to his mother, in the sweetest little voice you've ever heard, he exclaimed rather loudly...

THIS...IS...THE...BEST...DAY..EVER!!!

Hopefully you both can go on your cruise, and feel the same special feelings this little boy did.

Same thing happened to my daughter when she first stepped into the atrium area on the Disney Fantasy, and every time she saw Minnie, and Tinker Bell, and Captain Hook ("you are a bad, bad boy" she would say to him), etc. etc.

I guess all I would say - marvel at the beauty of whatever ship you're sailing, the glorious sites you're seeing, and people you're encountering on every journey. See every experience as if it was your first time - like children do. :)

I am so sorry about your grandmother passing away.

You have my condolences.

Just keep thinking about that wonderful cruise. Sure wish I could have gone on a cruise after my mother died -- but work called on me.

Just think about all the pampering that the crew will do for you.

Plan on going to Le Cirque -- Cream Brule is wonderful there.

Book the Pinnacle - be sure to order either the vanilla or chocolate soufflé there -- way better than the dining room ones.

Book the spa.

Just relax -- it will all come together for a great cruise.
