Who wants to gamble while docked in Bermuda?

Just read in USA Today that members of Parliament in Bermuda have approved the Cruise Ship (Casino) Act 2013. I wouldn't hold my breath too long on seeing casinos on land, different beast all together.

Should be interesting since the residents have been so opposed to a land based casino in the past.

There really is not that much to do in Bermuda at night ... even on land trips.

 

Having casinos open on cruise ships would be a good option.

Some cruise ships stay docked there for several days.

I went to Bermuda on the Explorer of the Seas last October. We were docked for 3 days. We had very full schedules during the day. [bought a 3-day transportation pass] We saw both light houses, went to St David's and St Georges, toured Fort Hamilton and the capitol and the dockyard area. There are no night time activities in October in either Hamilton or the Dockyard.

 

While we visit land based casinos maybe 1-2 a year, we hit the casino on the ship a couple of times each cruise.

 

We found that there was not that much to do in the evening. the casino and shops were closed. The Royal Promenade was like a ghost town.

 

I think opening the casinos will improve the bottom line for ships and give pax something to do at night.

Works for me as I'll have a free drink card good for the casino on the Breakaway that would be no good for 3 days!!

Gambling is not my cup of tea, but for all of those who want it on the ships--------Fine and Dandy.

 

I'd like to see the ship's shops open at night while docked. The ones on the Island might be closed by that time.
