jmf123 Posted October 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Just read in USA Today that members of Parliament in Bermuda have approved the Cruise Ship (Casino) Act 2013. Under this act, shipboard casinos can stay open while overnighting in port, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Here's a link to the article: http://www.usatoday.com/story/cruiselog/2013/10/04/bermuda-cruise-ship-casino-gambling/2921697/
lady_cruiser Posted October 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2013 If I gamble I rather find a casino in port, if they have one, and gamble there.
pollux Posted October 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Why go on a cruise for the casino? See OP is from SD and there are many casinos in that area.
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 5, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2013 I guess it will make some people happy. Keith

SBtS The person quoted said, IF they have one.;) I wouldn't hold my breath too long on seeing casinos on land, different beast all together. njhorseman Posted October 6, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2013 The government is planning to hold a referendum (exact nature of the question(s) to be asked as yet unannounced) on the land-based casino issue.
iheartbda Posted October 6, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2013 The government is planning to hold a referendum (exact nature of the question(s) to be asked as yet unannounced) on the land-based casino issue. Should be interesting since the residents have been so opposed to a land based casino in the past.
OCruisers Posted October 6, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2013 There really is not that much to do in Bermuda at night ... even on land trips. Having casinos open on cruise ships would be a good option. LuLu ~~~
oceanbabe Posted October 6, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 6, 2013 i would not want to gamble on ship in Bermuda. Each can do what they want, but prefer to see my pics from the day, remember all the beautiful sites. Do not want to ruin by gambling

The assumption is, since it isn't in the article, that the start date will be in 2014. As it is said - the devil is in the details... SBtS

Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted October 9, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 9, 2013 I went to Bermuda on the Explorer of the Seas last October. We were docked for 3 days. We had very full schedules during the day. [bought a 3-day transportation pass] We saw both light houses, went to St David's and St Georges, toured Fort Hamilton and the capitol and the dockyard area. There are no night time activities in October in either Hamilton or the Dockyard. While we visit land based casinos maybe 1-2 a year, we hit the casino on the ship a couple of times each cruise. We found that there was not that much to do in the evening. the casino and shops were closed. The Royal Promenade was like a ghost town. I think opening the casinos will improve the bottom line for ships and give pax something to do at night.
Alliezona09 Posted October 12, 2013 #17 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Works for me as I'll have a free drink card good for the casino on the Breakaway that would be no good for 3 days!!
Barb Nahoumi Posted November 27, 2013 #18 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Gambling is not my cup of tea, but for all of those who want it on the ships--------Fine and Dandy. I'd like to see the ship's shops open at night while docked. The ones on the Island might be closed by that time.
