nat9511 Posted October 12, 2013 #31 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Great review Maureen. I love your pictures. Mine were OK, nothing special so I didn't get any of them printed. I'm sorry about the taxi. I always go to the port early. I want to be one of the first people on the ship so I can explore before the crowds. Maybe our paths will cross on another ship. C Cruise Dude Posted October 12, 2013 #33 Share Posted October 12, 2013 After my delays and the late arrival and my taxi driver getting lost, I was starving. The hotel gave me a menu for a place called Doughboys and I ordered food. I went to the hotel lobby to get something to drink while I waited for the delivery and while discussing with the clerk whether or not Gingerale has caffeine, I said (muttered, really), I'd really like a glass of milk. He immediately went over to his little Starbucks setup that he had and poured me a big glass of milk at no charge. So sweet. Well, since this is a cruise board, I know you all expect a little food porn and I have no intention of letting you down. I had the Caesar salad. Buttery garlic knots. And spaghetti with meat sauce, which if you look closely, you will see they also included a few meat balls. I had brought my two friends along. After I ate, I checked my two bottles of wine and they had survived the flight, so, shortly after that, I hit the hay and started dreaming about the Allure. Maureen, Allure got my attention, Solo kept be going this, well, HELLO!:p;) Those garlic knots look sooo good. I was considering Allure solo but there is so much on the ship that I would want to share the fun of. Thanks for this review.

maureencruiser Posted October 12, 2013 Author #41 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Hey everybody, Thanks for the kind comments- I'm back. So, on previous cruises, I had run around, exploring the ship, wanting to see and do everything all at once. I knew I could not do that this time, on this ship. So, I devised a plan to spend Day 1 on Deck 6. When I originally went to my cabin at 1pm, there was a lot of paperwork in there, the Compass, the Daily Planner, etc. Instead of heading out, I took a load off and read through the info , starting to highlight things I was interested in. My suitcase arrived at about 2, so, I unpacked and got all my stuff stashed away. Then, around 3, I headed out to explore the Boardwalk. My room was about 4 doors down from the Aft elevator, so, just around the corner from the Boardwalk. It turns out, I took 440 pictures my first day on the ship. :o Here they all are, one at a time. :D No, I won't do that to you, but, here are some of my favorites. See that hardwood gleam? A replica of the Allure! This is how I see myself - long and lean!
maureencruiser Posted October 12, 2013 Author #42 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Awww, they're so cute, I just wanna smash their heads in with a sledgehammer! A mighty steed, indeed! Everybody takes a picture of Big Boobs McGee! Tempting, tempting! OK, by my count, there are 11 people on the Carousel and only ONE of them is a child! You should all be ashamed of yourselves! Mystaken Posted October 12, 2013 #43 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks for taking us along! Did you eat lunch on the ship? What did you do with your carryon stuff during lunch? That is always the first problem when sailing solo.
maureencruiser Posted October 12, 2013 Author #44 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Take me home, I'm soft and cuddly - works on men as well as children. ;) Awww, why is there never a sledgehammer around when you need one? For anyone wondering, yes, they do show Football on the ship. Many of my best memories of the cruise happened right here! Loved the geckoes , geckos, lizards climbing up the rock wall. maureencruiser Posted October 12, 2013 Author #45 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Obligatory Balcony shot! This thing creeped me out, it still haunts my dreams. What else would you do on a cruise? So happy, so festive, so fun! Is this really what a bear looks like when it runs? I picture them more lumbering, not prancing. OK, I love kittycats (note my Avatar). I sooo wanted to ride these two kitties, never got a chance to. I shoulda knocked that little girl right off of there!
jagsfan Posted October 12, 2013 #46 Share Posted October 12, 2013 I just got off Oasis. I feel like I'm cruising again, looking at your pix. I did look down at the top of a lifeboat, but felt like it was a bonus. If my glasses fell off they wouldn't drown.
maureencruiser Posted October 12, 2013 Author #47 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Guess what they have at the Boardwalk Doghouse? Went back to look at the kitties again (longingly). I painted this! I carved this! You can tell by the look on that man's face he doesn't believe me! I didn't do anything to this! Really, it's just a big hunk of wood! On a side note, these horses are not tables, people! I saw empty drinks and bottles being left on them all the time. Seriously, there's like 6 restaurants in 20 feet, you can't put your empty bottle on a table? Or better yet, in the TRASH??

Cruisercl Posted October 12, 2013 #49 Share Posted October 12, 2013 This is a great review! I can hardly wait for the rest. :) I have just started cruising solo and would like to cruise at least one of the 'big' RCCL ships (Oasis or Allure). I am hoping your review will give me good incentive.......so far it has. My thanks in advance for sharing you vacation/cruise. You writing style is very entertaining and your pictures only add to the fun of it all. I wish you continued happy cruising. :D Caron
Ocean Boy Posted October 12, 2013 #50 Share Posted October 12, 2013 OK, by my count, there are 11 people on the Carousel and only ONE of them is a child! You should all be ashamed of yourselves! OK, I confess, I rode on it.
