we originally had a HAL cruise booked that left from ft lauderdale and ended in LA, it was 68 days!!!!!!!!!! thought better of it, small ship, older ship and HAL (i prefer princess)besides after 68 days i might have jumped ship:eek:... so we are currently booked on the golden out of buenos aires to LA 31 days. dont think there will be shorter ones. perhaps the amazon one from ft laud to amazon and back, but its pricey too. good luck....

How much time do you have? Cunard's Queen Victoria starts in Ft Lauderdale, goes around South America then heads out to Australia and New Zeland. Then returns to Ft Lauderdale via Hawaii, San Francisco and the Panama Cannel. Total of 94 days and over 30 ports.

Starts January 12th.

Is there a cruise leaving the U.S. that goes to South America and back?We don't want to have to fly to or from South America. Thank you.

Celebrity doesn't have cruises from the US all the way around SA, but you could do a B2B on Celebrity Infinity either in December leaving FLL, first cruise ending in Valparaiso, Chile, then second cruise around the Horn to Buenos Aires.

In March, you could do the reverse, from BA to Valpo then back through the Panama Canal to FLL.

You would only have a one way flight either way.

Last year, Oceania's ship Regatta did a cruise like that if I remember correctly. We did a cruise with them from Miami to Manaus, Brazil and back to Miami. The ports were different on the way down and up.

In spring, we flew from Miami to Buenos Aires with Aerolineas Argentinas. It was a pleasant flight with good service. The MS Volendam then took us through the Magellan Street, up the Pacific Coast and through the Panama Canal to Fort Lauderdale.

Try to piece together to different cruises on different cruise lines to shorten the time on a cruise if you need to do that.

Or piece together two or three cruises (on the same or different lines) that give you a few days ashore somewhere, e.g., Buenos Aires and/or Valparaiso / Santiago. In early 2013, we took the Grand Princess from B.A. around the Horn to Valpo, disembarked there, and several days later boarded the Star Princess for the trip north to Los Angeles. A several-day break provides a much better opportunity to visit at least one area than can be done in a single-day port visit. Either B.A. or Valpo/Santiago is well worth a few days, and from either of those ports, side trips to other interesting places can be arranged. We flew to B.A., but you could probably find a pair of cruises that depart from and return to the U.S. with a few days somewhere in South America between the two cruises.

The Crown Princess is leaving Fort Lauderdale for 49 days all around south america ending in Los Angeles. Starts feb 15, 2014

And it is booked solid, as it was two weeks after the offer. Later we got a 'private e-mail' offer to fill in one someone dropped, so we will do Buenos Aires to LA, 30-days in March. Call Princess if you are interested, as this is the time many may drop off.

We booked it as two segments though as it was a better deal for us. but glad you got the back segment, see you on board. B)
