MLife Gold BECAUSE of being RCCL Diamond

Recommended Posts

Emerald should get you Gold at mLife.

Thanks, I just sent them another email. I'll see what they say. I'm wondering if they combine what play you have at their casinos, with what level you are with C & A. I haven't been to Vegas at the Bellagio in 6 years.

Maybe that's why they only gave me Pearl. I'll let you know what they say.

I called C&A this morning and they said (after talking to Casino Royale) that if you became Platinum with MLife b/c you are D+ with Royal, then you don't get the benefits (like the 10 drink vouchers)

But my question is this - if I go into the casino with the screen print from MLife showing I am Platinum, how do they know how I earned it?

Guess until someone actually tries it we won't know. I am on Brilliance in Dec and plan to go to the Casino and seeing if I get the vouchers. If not, then okay, but I don't understand why if you are nothing on Royal but Platinum on MLife you get all the benefits of D+ but if you are D+ on Royal and nothing on MLife (Platinum b/c of the program) you don't get the benefits of Platinum on Royal. Doesn't seem right.

But I am going to try. I am going to ask about the vouchers and the free dinner in the specialty restaurant. Don't really care that much about the restaurant, but want to see what they say.

I think it actually does make sense. MGM isn't making any money from you from cruising with Royal, but they do make money when you are gambling at their casinos. They probably pay Royal some money for their Platinum players that gamble in MGM casinos, which they make a lot of money on.

I just spoke to RCI and you can not combine the two. Doing the math our diamond balcony discount is better then the drink coupons and specialty dinning.

I thought someone earlier in these posts said you could combine the balcony discount with the drink coupons and dining. If not, then you are right, way better deal with my balcony discount

Re: combinability, I don't know if this is yet another case of getting bad information when you call RCI or if what the rep said is now being applied aboard the ships. But in our personal experience, on Allure in August, we booked our cabin the old fashioned way and got our C&A balcony discount. We checked in with the casino manager once on board and showed our MLife credentials. We got the specialty restaurant and drink coupons, and actually got them times two, one pkg for H and one pkg for W because our MLife accounts are not linked. (It can be good to have them linked when you're playing in Vegas because all points accumulate.) A few weeks before that cruise, we were in Vegas and did the initial partnering of MLife and RCI. We had booked that room through the casino host at a favorable rate, so didn't do a special MLife booking; however, they gave us the MLife upgrade on the room and the front of the line buffet benefit.

Good luck to all!

I think it's another case of bad information being given by Royal....I love Royal and only cruise on their line, but if you make 3 different phone calls and ask the same question each time, you will get 3 different answers. I am sailing Indy on 11/23. I just created my Mlife account yesterday, then called right away and had Gold tier status in a matter of minutes. The Mlife rep said all we had to do was go to the casino manager, present the Mlife credentials and collect the coupon books. I doubt they will tell is that we already got our Diamond books and send us on our way.

Imagine the situation where a person is Diamond on Royal by way of cruise credits and Gold in Mlife by way of Vegas gambling credits (or however you get Gold without C&A status). They should be fully entitled to both the Diamond book and the Mlife coupons. I don't see how the casino manager would tell how you got your Gold status; they won't be calling Mlife to do a full investigation on every person who presents the Gold card, right?!?

Did you get your MLife status b/c of your status on royal or your Royal status b/c of your MLife status?

We are Diamond with RCI and will be staying in Vegas at the Signature at MGM Grand in January. We booked through the M-Life program. Do I show them anything when I check in? My C&A page on the RCI site on my phone? This will be a new experience for us. I'm still not sure what the benefits will all be.......

Ginny,

Show them your Diamond card from RCI. :)

I know I'm Diamond - it says so on my C&A page - but I never received a Diamond card! We are new Diamonds as of May. Maybe that's why? Should I ask C&A to send me cards?

I did get the Diamond discount on my upcoming cruises, and the e-mail with the M-Life specials was for Diamonds.:)

There are no Diamond cards that I am aware of. What I think is being referred to is your SeaPass cards that have "Diamond" printed on the bottom.

I enrolled in MLife, then emailed them to have my status updated b/c of Diamond C&A. Here's what they emailed back

"Thank you for the updated information. We have added your Royal Caribbean number to your M life profile. Please pick up your new “GOLD,” M life card at the M life desk located in all of our resorts. We look forward to welcoming you soon. Have a great day!"

I plan to bring my MLife account number with me when I go to Vegas so picking up my GOLD card should be a snap.

I was on the Jewel in October and had no problem getting the perks with my MLife reciprocity. But, what I did is.... I went on the MLife site and took a snapshot of my name with the MLife status and brought it with me. Upon boarding the ship I went to the casino and found the Casino host and showed him the paper and he promptly took it and gave me my voucher for the free drinks and free dinner. He had a sheet with people's names on it but mine wasn't and he said no problem since I had proof that I did have the MLife status. The drink voucher has to be used at the Casino bar but it can be used for as many people as you have the voucher for. I had five free drinks so my friend and I each got a drink for 2 nights and I got the last one the next time. I had no problem making the reservation at the specialty restaurant but I did tell them in advance that it was with a voucher. I am going again in Dec but with a new status and I have taken a snapshot if my MLife page again verifying that I have that status so that there is no question. It just makes things a little easier.

Thanks for the info! That's exactly what I plan on doing, glad to see it works.

Thanks for the info. That is what I plan to do on Brilliance in Dec. I printed the snapshots of both mine and my husband MLife status and will take that to the Casino and see if we get the vouchers and dining vouchers. I am fine with having to get the drinks from the Casino Bar, can walk in there and get them just as well as any other bar on the ship. Hopefully, it works

I spoke with Royal Caribbean Casino main number to associate my MLife Platinum number (got it due to D+ with Royal). What happens is MLife will sent Royal an updated list of members. She said she received her last list from MLife in October so I wasn't on that list and she wasn't able to find my name.

It matters because some of the perks are better using your Mlife number. You cannot combine benefits. For example, you will lost your balcony discount as you cannot use both. So that is pointless.

I have a promenade booked in April, so I figured the MLife benefits would be better, but she couldn't find my name (I'll have to call back to MLife to verify my number). But she said I would lose the $35 OBC that is associated with that booking if I use the Mlife benefits. So who knows.

I'm going to Vegas in early December and I'll pick up my card then. Not sure if I want to use MLife to book hotel/shows,etc.

Since I won't claim any Mlife benefits until I am on board, the balcony discount will already be applied. If the casino manager wants to check and deny me any Mlife benefits, so be it. But I would be very surprised!

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

It's true, not combinable, if you use C & A you can not use mlife.

When I cruise with spouse we always have a balcony, so we use the C & A benefits, but traveling with friends we use the mlife benefits!

But again the same question...once you are booked and on the ship, and you go to the casino host with your Mlife printout showing your status, what are they going to do...call up to guest services or home office and see if you booked with a balcony discount and take it away after boarding? Say you already got a discount so you can't have the coupons? Not everyone books through the casino host or gives the reservations people their Mlife information.

I guess I'm still wondering how they are going to check benefits against each other. Would they really bother to take the time to do this?

I'll keep watching this thread and hopefully someone who got their Mlife status only because of C&A status and sails will come back and report exactly what they did and what they got. We aren't sailing until middle of next year (unless something comes up that I can't pass up), so I'm in no rush. I'll also eventually sign my mom up separately, as she is D+ on Royal and we often cruise together, but split up the rooms with my kids.

So, has anyone who has become M Life Gold because they were C&A Diamond actually realized any of the benefits yet? I am sailing in a few weeks, so we'll see!

DH and I just returned from Vegas last weekend. Ended up switching our hotel reservation from Flamingo to MGM Grand since we received an email offer at the end of October for up to 20% off rooms and $150 credit. That was all we received. I have read on these boards that some folks got comped resort fees and such, but not us. Our gambling is primarily limited to the sportsbook and a few table games, so we didn't have enough "points" on our gold card to get any additional comps. Our hotel bill for 4 days was over $1,000 but received no other discounts above the $150 resort credit. We had a good time, regardless, stayed in one of the suites (well priced for around $400 or so for 4 nights).

One perk (not sure if it was b/c we are gold members or hotel guests) was that we received 30% off our tickets to KA (premium seats) which was an awesome savings for us (about $100). No discount for Mlife in the spa, however (I was asking everywhere!).

Hotel bill over $1,000? This vacation in January is supposed to be economy for us! We are in The Signature at the MGM Grand and we got two nights for $150 (after taxes and fees) plus a $150 Resort Credit. We don't drink and will probably only put about $20 pp in a slot machine. Hopefully, that is where the money went. We are going just to see it as I have never been. We are looking forward to seeing all that glitters (I like sparkly things!;)) and a show. I am interested in seeing Ka. Hoping to get half price tickets, but if they aren't available at least it's nice to know we could get the 30% off ones.
