I asked this awhile ago and didn't get a response so thought I'd try again. We are going on our first Celebrity cruise after many with Royal and some with Princess. We will be on the ship for the Daytona 500 and my DH was wondering if any bar/TV on the ship will carry it.

My guess is not, thinking since I'll have some free internet minutes I can download the app on my tablet so he can at least keep up with what's going on. I will also TIVO it so he can watch when we get back.

VERY excited about our B2B. Can't wait to try Summit!!

Hi, normally the 500 is shown on FOX and that is not one of the

"usual channels" on board. My best suggestion is to see Guest Relations

about it and ask if they would be able to get the feed and televise it.

IF they do show it, the casino has TV's as well as Michael's and of course

your stateroom.;) If I was a betting woman? I would not put a lot

of money on it but all you can do is ask:)

My DH used to be a huge Dale Earnhardt fan until his death, now he is a Chevy driver fan, but does like SHR. I keep telling him he won't get to see it this year and if he really wants to he can stay home icon10.gif. Somehow don't think that will happen.

I really did not expect it to be shown, but I told him I would ask. He will just have to be happy laying out by the pool enjoying the warm weather. We'll just have to watch TV later that evening to see who wins.

Thanks to everyone who answered. After this cold, frigid WI weather I am so looking forward to vacation. We have a 4 night cruise on Liberty of the Seas in 10 days so just a taste of our B2B.

They will show a continuous loop of the cars running around the track for 197 laps.

After 2 1/2 hours of running that loop they will then show the highlight of the race that involves a caution and a restart with a green white checker finish and on the last lap there will be a fantastic crash with the leader being wiped out and some one sneaking thru avoiding all of the trafffic to win race.

Welcome to the world of restrictor plate races and generic race cars.

I am a NASCAR fan. Look where I am from. Retired from the blue oval.

Years ago I was doing one of my favorite past times. Sitting at a bar in Vegas, playing video poker, watching a NASCAR race from MIS and had a bet on Martin, and sipping on a drink. Doesn't get any better. Life is great.

The person sitting next to me started a conversation because he seen my interest it the race. He was a NASCAR licensing lawyer and told me that NASCAR was one step away from being like WWF, as they promote the good guy bad guy thing. At the time the good guy was Gordon and the bad was Dale. I thought about it and it was so true. After Dale's death it was Steward, the bad, who is now is a good guy. The Bush brothers now are the guys to hate and Johnson the guy to love. Then there is always Junior, plus throw in Danica who is to NASCAR like Tiger is to golf. Everyone checks to see where her and Tiger finished.

My interest has dropped off because of the car of tomorrow and the format of race to the chase. Plus the true comment that Steward made about the factious cautions at the end of the race to tighten up the pack and make the finish more exciting.

My husband would have thought I had lost my mind by booking a cruise that would make us miss the 500. Of course I had a hard time this year because we had to miss not only one but two races because of cruises but not major races, of course we did go to 3 live races this year to compensate.

ANY WAY... check Michael's and see if they can show it, that is your best bet.

And GO JIMMIE Rev-in for 7 in 2014!!!

We may be in Daytona for the 500 or I may be watching it on my phone via raceview... all depends on if we have to fly to NJ from FL that week or if we are driving to TN first... I am all about flying straight up, at least then we don't leave until Tuesday.

Normally I would never do that either, but this year my DH turns 55 and I really wanted to cruise over his birthday which just happens to be the day of the Daytona. He doesn't watch as much as he used to but still really likes the 500.

We have been to several races in Daytona, and also used to have season tickets at Bristol. But now, cruising takes precedence!!! icon10.gif

So, we will ask at Michaels to see if it's possible, if not, he will survive. Give him enough to drink and he'll forget all about it--HAHA. LOL!
