Cycling to the OPT

Recommended Posts

I accidentally did more than I planned at the gym this morning.

I started with 13.5km on the bike and then 3km on the treadmill.

Back to the bike for another 16.5km.

Then I went to refill my water bottle and planned on another 12km to make 45km in total.

That last 12km took a long time and it wasn't until I finished that I discovered that the bike had reverted back to Miles.

So I had actually cycled a total of 52km this morning!

That means I've now done 200km and I'm at Morisset.

Only another 113km to the OPT. I might just make it.

Your doing well and can probably reward yourself with an extra dessert once on board.:D

As well as the exercise regime, DW & I are on a strict pre-cruise diet. We have both lost about 5 kilos over the last 2 1/2 weeks.

I sure am looking forward to the food on the ship but we don't want to put on what we've lost.

I figure I'll keep up the exercise while I'm on board. Surely that's gotta help.

I just want to know where you put your bag. Or do you travel light:)

Why, I have a suitcase on wheels and tow it behind me, of course! ;) :)

Another 33km this morning making 233km in total. That puts me at Ourimbah, just North of Gosford.

Only (listen to him, ONLY!) 80km to go!

I might have to find a gym in Sydney on Monday morning to finish off before we embark.

Remember now, you are not allowed to cycle on the expressway.....LOL.

I've just crossed the Hawkesbury River.

I think I'm going to make it!

Congratulations

What a brilliant idea, what a way to make room for some inevitable cruise excesses - and well done on covering the distance

With a target of a cruise at the end I'm sure you will make it!

Congratulations! That "mistake" in the middle made all the difference! I'm sure you'll make it in time!

Well, the bad news is that I didn't get to the gym at all this morning because I needed to finish off the church newsletter.

We're on the way to Sydney now and will stay with friends there tonight. I've checked online and there is an Anytime Fitness not far from their place so hopefully I can get the remaining 47km in before we board, otherwise I'll be hitting the gym on the ship. I'd really like to reach my goal before we weigh anchor.

The good news is I stepped on the scales this morning and the exercise as well as a strict healthy eating plan over the last 3 weeks has resulted in a 6.7kg weight loss. :) I'll try not to put it ALL back on during the cruise. :D

Regardless of whether you finish your cycling journey or not, you've done brilliantly at getting trim and fit for your cruise.

I hope you have a wonderful time and that you enjoy all that the ship has to offer. :)

well done on your efforts. Have a great cruise.

You have got me thinking on what I can do to get fitter and lose a few Kg's before our August cruises. I will work something out :D

I'm thinking the same, although my cruise isn't until Christmas. But I have some other travel planned as well which will probably not be good for my waistline. LOL. I've been pretending my exercycle doesn't exist since Christmas. No more! I'm back on the bike tomorrow! ;)

Live up date.

I'm at the gym now!

The friends we're staying with are dropping us to the ferry in the morning and we're leaving home at 6.50am.

In spite of being an early riser, I won't have time for a workout so I'm putting in some Ks tonight and will have to finish on the ship tomorrow, I fear. 2.5km already! :D

27km tonight so I'll have to do the last 20km after we board.

Ahhh, with only 20ks to go I'd be pretty proud! That's close enough to walk. Or grab an overpriced taxi in Sydney... lol

At the pier waiting to board. Luggage dropped off.

Gym or lunch first?

Hmm...

I'm so chuffed to think that with only 20km to go, I will make it before sail away.

:D :D :D

I made it!

After a light(ish) lunch at the Windjammer, I made my way to the gym and cycled the remaining 12.5 miles (I wasn't falling for that trick again!).

Thank to everyone for you support and encouragement.

For my next trick I'm going to try to go to the gym everyday we're aboard.
