toxicfairy Posted January 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2014 So we are booked on Oasis in August and I had the perfect JS right smack middle ( well middle as you can get) of the hump on deck 9 :-) Had it booked Forever. So talking about it with DH tonight and he says...what do we have a GS or JS? I said a JS and he said I think I want a gold card ...I want the reserved suit seats and I want the "extras" . So I looked and it is $1200 more. He said yeah I want the gold card So I switched. We're still on deck 9 since thats where our DD's are and we're still only a short walk down the hall...thats why I did it right away ,so we could get a GS close to them. Before you get excited they'll be 17 and 22 not lil ones :-) So should I be sad I lost my idea of the perfect spot or happy we got a gs ??
Janet524 Posted January 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Are you serious? A GS more than makes up for being in the middle of any hump on any ship any day! How could you possibly be sad about anything! Enjoy the GS and all the perks that come with it.

We had Visa points so we booked a GS on Allure. :D We've done them on other ships and loved the amenities but the Oasis Class was a little steeper than any other ships. Hmmm, since it is just the two of you, I would have stayed in the jr. Suite. Here's why. The hump jr. Suites on oasis/allure have huge balconies. In fact, they are about the same size as the GS balcony. So all you are buying is more room square footage, and suite perks. If you make show reservations before, you really don't need priority seating. Finally, your kids will not have a gold card, so I don't think they can join you in enjoying these suite perks. Merion_Mom Posted January 24, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2014 IMO hump cabins are highly overrated. A GS trumps a JS every time. :)
Erik101 Posted January 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) I don't get it! I would be happy to just to be on a cruise. My family's room can be 3 decks below, all the way on the other side of the ship and I wouldn't care. They know how to reach me! travelplus Posted January 24, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 24, 2014 You should be happy to get a GS. Please ensure your kids also get the Gold Card:D . In fact I can't wait to start selling Cruises as a Travel Agent. I am just about done with my course and have the Final Exam to take. It would be a dream to ask my Boss to get"A Gold Card Room" not many people know what it is. In fact I would do anything to do a Fam Trip in a Grand Suite. Go and have a great time. hollon Posted January 24, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 24, 2014 I wish I had your problem and wish my husband said "sure, let's upgrade for the the GS', he thinks airlines and cruises are 200.00 pp:rolleyes:, so be happy and upgrade, always be happy:)
Miamia65 Posted January 24, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Defintely happy, Oasis is a huge ship and GS is close to the hump where the JS are, so you won't be disappointed. We were on the first hump with 2 balcony cabins on deck 8, one day we walked past the GS on deck 8 and they were very very nice. The suite perks are worth it, enjoy the cruise and especially enjoy Oasis.
cb at sea Posted January 24, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 24, 2014 The only real perk of a hump cabin is the location and convenience. Your view from any other balcony will be just fine!!! As long as you aren't at the end of the hallway, you're good to go!
toxicfairy Posted January 24, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks everyone. Guess I'm just cheap:o. We had a GS on the FOS years back and we did not use most of the perks so since I'm just looking forward to double points the JS wad fine and the hump gave me a full side view. But I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth so guess I'll suck it up...wha ha ha ha....and enjoy my GS!:D
