We were just sitting here watching some old episodes ourselves. You can watch the first six seasons on Youtube:

It is amazing how many stars were on that series. Saturday nights on TV back then was watching The Love Boat & then Fantasy Island.

Thanks for this info. I'll have to see if the Mediterranean cruise episode is there. We had a temp secretary for our account group who was an actor. He got a gig on this episode that was an actual Med cruise. He was back working for us when his episode (about three friends, young guys going together) was about to air and he didn't know that he would be one of the happy smiley faces at the beginning. I think this was the highpoint of his TV career. But he was a great temp.

My sister was involved with a show biz family (the mother was some B movie actress, I think) and the son she was dating got some work on the original Love Boat show. I would ask what his role was, knowing full well he was an extra (I didn't like this guy at all) and she would admit his scenes were usually at the bar.

looked it up (I think it's this one):

Years ago, back in 1992, we were taking a cruise to Alaska out of Vancouver. We are on deck and get talking to this guy, his wife and kid. The guy is all excited about being on his first cruise. We were on the Regal Princess' inaugural trip to Alaska. The guy was either a producer or director for some of the Love Boat episodes and this was his first time on a ship.

The words cuchi-cuchi just came to my mind. Remember Charo?

Believe it or not, Charo is the featured act at one of the casinos out here. The picture of her looks just the same. She was either 16 during the Love Boat or she is a great looking science project.:eek::D

I saw her act on a cruise back a few years ago. She does a good show.

If you enjoy guest stars and you get MeTV, check out the Columbo reruns on Sunday night. Lots of people did guest appearances. Batman was another one with a lot of guest stars making cameos.

Love Boat reruns are on MeTV on Sunday afternoons at 2 PM ET.

I noticed that too. Loved watching all the Love Boat re-runs when I was on the Royal a couple of weeks ago. Every night before bed, I would watch one show. :)

One of the first things I noticed at the very beginning of each episode is the passengers getting on the ship. The gang way actually goes down from the dock to get on, compared the zig-zag up several ramps to get get on now.

We just got off the Royal Jan 19 and I think we watched every Love boat show that was on our TV. As a child I watched Love Boat every Friday night (I think Fantasy Island was on right afterward?).

When I was watching a few weeks ago, I couldn't believe all the adult humour I missed as a child  Julie was ...ummmm...kinda randy :D

One thing I noticed watching Love Boat this last Royal cruise and I commented to Tony, "where were the balcony cabins on the *Love Boat*?

All the scans of the ship I could not see the balcony's.

You can't find them because that ship didn't have them. There were no kid areas, you slept in bunks (no pushing beds together), there were no bells and there were no whistles. The kid's entertainment was going to the dining room, lining up cups into a triangle and bowling with oranges. The buffet area was used as the little kid's area and the counselor - just one - goofed around with them. You had one dining room and it was very personable with so few people on the ship. We did the Med on the Pacific Princess and it was kind of fun sweeping down the stairs like on the show. It was really small by today's standards.

Glad to hear that Princess is reviving some of their roots....such as showing old Love Boat episodes on the cabin t-v's, the Love Boat tune played by the Royal Princess horn, Gavin McLeod as a spokesman, etc.

Like many, the show sparked my interest in cruising, and in 1991, took my first cruise on the Pacific Princess from Whittier to Vancouver. It was very bittersweet to see the last photo's of her before scrapping in that link posted earlier.

Back then, the band opened each evening's show on board with the Love Boat tune. The television ads all used the tune, and the tag line: "It's way more than a cruise, it's the Love Boat!" Somehow that resonates a lot better than the lame "Escape Completely".

For some reason, perhaps licensing contract expired, or whatever, they stopped using their heritage for promotion for many years. Now their appears to be a resurgence.:)

One difference between the earlier "Love American Style" shows from the Love Boat, was there was no 'regular' cast on the former....all new cast for each episode. Some trivia....Love American Style had the pilot episode of "Happy Days", which itself had several spin-offs....

They got lucky? I don't remember seeing a casino in any of the episodes.

That's funny.

But I did see an episode last week (on the CB) that showed a bank robber playing roulette in the casino. The one where the girl he meets on the ship is a cop. Good episode. Love the Love Boat

I certainly wouldn't mind having those huge interior rooms. Looks more like a hotel room than a cabin on a cruise ship. The bar setup is a crackup. Isaac would be up on deck with a little table with maybe 3 or 4 bottles.
