Merion_Mom Posted April 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Nice title. I thought that you were going to say that you have seen cats on board a cruise ship acting as service animals. The CATS/Oasis announcement was made several days ago, and was reported on this board then. :)

roebud Posted April 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Saw Cats in London...LOVED it much better than Hairspray!
toxicfairy Posted April 11, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 11, 2014 I'm glad it is not until after our cruise. I've seen Hair spray several times in different venues and Cats only once, once was ENOUGH!
CRUISEMAMI Posted April 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Cruised on Oasis 9 times: saw hairspray 9 times! Saw cats at our theater, and I know I won't go and see it again! One time was more then enough for me :) Sent with my iPhone
SeaTeach Posted April 11, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 11, 2014 The title threw me for a loop but after reading all became clear. Too bad we'll miss out on CATS, that's my favorite musical. I have a tape of the original London production and watch it regularly.
Mal Posted April 11, 2014 #13 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Cats? Uh....no. This will be a free night for us.
Ken at the beach Posted April 11, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 11, 2014 I'm glad I got to see Hairspray aboard. Hopefully, Cats will be a short run. 5 years until the next drydock. That's not short.
PhillyFinest27 Posted April 11, 2014 Author #15 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Lol why do most people not like CATS? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
rummenroman Posted April 11, 2014 #16 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Maybe it was the specific production I attended, but I didn't like it either. I wasn't a story that grabbed my attention. I sat there bored playing on my phone after about 30 minutes. If a story doesn't grab me by then, I'm done.
nascar junkie Posted April 11, 2014 #17 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Whew...scared me too. Last thing I want to deal with on a cruise is a bunch of smelly, pesky, meowing cats. Unfortunatly, my daughter went off to college and left her dumbutt cat at home. Yes, that's the cat's name. :(
chengkp75 Posted April 11, 2014 #18 Share Posted April 11, 2014 I was thinking that this was a new "green" approach to pest control onboard.:D
babyher Posted April 11, 2014 #19 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Lol why do most people not like CATS? Sent from my iPhone using Forums *LOL* When it opened in the early 80s it was the hottest ticket in town. The story itself wasn't so much, but the costumes and sets were pretty great for the day. Then "Memories" became the show stopping big hit , and it became one of those songs you couldn't escape. Plus at the time Andrew Lloyd Webber was King of Broadway . He could have walked on stage , went to the bathroom and walked off and The New York Times would call it a "Triumph" and it would have gotten 12 Tony Nominations. It made its money back early and was doing enough business to keep it on for so long because it was cheaper than trying out a whole new play and risking a flop. After a while it became a institution with the tourists. Something you had to see when you visited. Sort of like Saturday Night Live . Its still on after all these years although it is far from what it once was.

Rare graphicguy Posted April 11, 2014 #21 Share Posted April 11, 2014 They can't find something just a bit fresher than CATS? Is there anyone out there who hasn't seen this already? Probably more than once?

HesterMofet Posted April 11, 2014 #23 Share Posted April 11, 2014 I'm probably the only person who liked Cats up until "Memory." Can't stand that song and thought the whole thing would have just been better as a review of the TS Eliot stuff than trying to put a story with it. Maybe that means I'll make it to Sorrentos before the rest of the passengers get there for a snack. :) But why not something newer? I was hoping for Wicked on Quantum! I guess I should just be glad it is not Annie. (Yeah, more songs about orphans and child abuse!)

But then it took on a life of its own *LOL* every singer that went on a talk show/variety show had to do a rendition. . The same with the song "Feelings" and "Send in The Clowns " The latter I like a lot , but after a while enough already *LOL* Edited April 11, 2014 by babyher
