Good News From RCL Today

We were on the Navigator OTS on the May 18th Cruise. When all was said and done...we had a 45.00 credit that we left behind...not intentionally. The night before we disembarked, we thought the $45.00 would be used as part of the Gratuity that was owed to the Crew. When we looked at the final bill on the Sunday we left....we noticed we either pre paid those gratuities or the Online TA paid them, but we could not remember since the cruise was booked for 6 months. We were kind of bummed out that we left that money since we have read time and time again.....It's gone unless you use it.

Well, low and behold, Got our B of A RCCL bill today....and we got a credit of $45.02 back from Royal....So to all of you naysayers....I have proof that good things do come in the mail and from Royal.

Lots of people get refunds of all or part of some types of OBC and you were one of them :-)

So hard to say......We used a NEXT Cruise Certificate and had 100.00 from the Online TA....so maybe from the TA. On the TV screen....it just shows a credit to your account and as you spend....it goes down. Guess we do not spend enough on Board....So I guess we should say...So Sorry Royal! :eek:

Did you spend the rest? or lose it?

 

You can always cash out obc at the casino for a 5% fee, if you don't think you will use it.

They refunded it to my credit card, it was on my account within 3 days.

 

And yes, I planned to cash out in the casino on the last evening, but they sent the bill before and told me that they will refund it to my credit card.

 

(That was on a Celebrity ship, but it's the same company with the same rules for that.)

If an OBC is REFUNDABLE, it will be refunded to you. If it's non-refundable, if you don't use it, you lose it. They generally will use the refundable OBC first, if you have both!

They use the NON-refundable first. I get cash back at Guest Services on the last day on most of our cruises. No need to pay at the casino, unless what you have left is the non-refundable (RCI) OBC.

Our experience has been that they apply the non-refundable OBC before the refundable. We've had both kinds a few times, not used all of it, and always gotten the leftovers back.

Since you used your BofA as the credit card on file, any refundable OBC was automatically applied to that card. This is standard procedure.

 

You may want to check your statement as you will lose 90 points from that credit since it was an RCI transaction.

Not correct. Non-refundable OBC is always used before refundable.

I dont think any OBC issued by RCI is refundable accept the OBC you can prepurchase through Gifts and Gear.

What Patti said about losing RCI cc points if refunded to your card is the reason I always get cash back at the end of the cruise. I don't want it to go back to the card and lose points.
