NCL Cabin Information Compilation -NO CABIN QUESTIONS POSTED HERE PLEASE!

Doing research for an upcoming NCL cruise I discovered, as many others have, that there is no compilation of the cruise review data.  While not a full compilation, this is my attempt to index the reviews to make it easier to find specific ships and cabins.  As with most eyeball-to-fingertip efforts such as this, there is probably a typo or two, for which I apologize, but I tried to be especially careful with cabin numbers, thread pages and review entries numbers.

The data is currently sorted by ship name, then by stateroom number.  So, once you’ve found the ship and stateroom, go to the indicated page and scroll down to find the specific entry, shown in the upper right corner.

Ship - Epic

Deck - 12

Stateroom # - 12090

Stateroom Category - Inside

Port Side

Quiet Stateroom? Yes

Connecting Stateroom? No

This cabin was next to the elevators, separated by a hallway. I’m adding it to the list because it was quiet (and a future cruiser might wonder the location was noisy). We could not hear people waiting for the elevator. We only heard people directly passing in front of our door.

Ship - Jewel

Deck - 11

Stateroom # - 11124

Stateroom Category – Club Balcony Suite MB

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Quiet.  No bothersome noise from deck 12.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - What you would expect.  The dividers are angled at the top, so could look forward and aft at the rail.  Perhaps a privacy issue for some.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal, plenty of room for 2 chairs and table, and to move around.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - not noticable; early morning someone may have been smoking, and could occassionally smell that.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None. Plenty of storage space.  Good sized shower with glass door.  Room steward cleaned daily.

Any other comments? - We found this room to be very quiet, had lots of space and a convenient location being close to aft stairs to deck 12. Only bothersome issue was blinking message on phone, stating "urgent message", but was an art auction sales pitch.  Not "urgent", but made you listen due to the beginning of the call.

Question for anyone who had a cabin on deck 5, on ncl jewel under the casino area, would the smoke penetrate into the room?

Is the smoke noticeable in that area or while walking to your room since the casino is above you ?

Ship - Prima

Deck - 14

Stateroom # - 14190

Stateroom Category – Family Suite with Master Bedroom

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes! We rarely heard anything from inside. While on balcony could hear the music a people at infinity pool on deck 8, but not loudly.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Some of the dry slide support system runs thru the deck. Slide wasn't a problem for us, we enjoyed watching the people thru the clear section. Even a laugh with them when they got stuck.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - No idea!

Was wind a problem? - Depending on direction of wind, the balcony was generally comfortable though.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -

Any specific problems with this cabin? -

Any other comments? - The perks of the suite category were really nice! Concierge, butler, breakfast and lunch at Cagney's & priority embarking and disembarking.

Ship - Breakaway

Deck - 10

Stateroom # - 10282

Stateroom Category – balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – open view, no obstructions

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? -  Normal

Was wind a problem? -  No.  Had some high winds but our balcony was much more protected than the Waterfront or sun decks during those times.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -  N/A  Technically in aft, but more mid ship than anything

Any specific problems with this cabin? -  Were toilet issues first day in many cabins, and more toilet issues elsewhere in the ship later in the cruise.  So likely ship-wide plumbing issue (caused by flushing something that shouldn't have been?).

Any other comments? - Went one previous cruise without knowing there are LARGE drawers under the couch.  Than you YouTube for enlightening me, thought I'd pass that onto everyone else who was today years old finding this out.  No USB plugs next to the bed like there were in the Encore, plenty of space on the vanity to charge everything.

NCL Breakaway stateroom 9854

Balcony w/ mostly unobstructed view

Quite except for next stateroom door opening/latching.

Close to aft elevators.

Problem flushing toilet

Issue that electrical outlets are across the room from bed. Need an extension cord for power at bedside.

Room seems to be last to be serviced.

Adjoining Cabin?: No

Balcony?: No, and not missed in the North Atlantic in April

Comment on the Size of the Cabin: Very adequate for 2 people, not sure you could get 4 in despite the pulldown and bed under the bed

Comment on any Noise Issues: Really quiet cabin

Comment on Storage Space: Plenty - 3 deep drawers each plus 4 shelves in closet, other cupboards and shelves20230422_204040.thumb.jpg.72738e5483f2b3ea55fc62a659c6dfd1.jpg20230422_203648.thumb.jpg.922024f373583d9196d4fe311e342e20.jpg20230422_203708.thumb.jpg.adffe3dd20dc9f2febabe52cdb5fbd77.jpg

Comment on the Bathroom: See above. big step up, light switch is outside so even with the delay, you can't avoid light pollution of the room if you use bathroom at night

Any Other Comments?: Single US plug plus single UK plus on desk, nothing near the bed. Plug is 10 feet as crow flies from opposite bed so id you want to be plugged in and have phone/equipment at head of bed, you will need about 12-15 feet of cable. we had a 6 foot cable plus USB extension and were golden except we lost rapid charging. Nice reading lights20230422_203823.thumb.jpg.331675bea60d12222e4af387c79a809e.jpg

Would You Recommend this Cabin?: Yes. Quiet forward cabin, just follow the fishies in the carpet to get your steps in

Ship -NCL Pearl

Deck - 8

Stateroom # -  8598

Stateroom Category – Obstructed OV Handicapped Accessible Sideways

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? Once in a while could hear muffled music from the atrium. Not problematic.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

View - Obstructed by a boat. Not too bad.  See pics below.

Was wind a problem? - No

Any specific problems with this cabin? -  One usb port by bed didn’t work. Left a note and it wasn’t fixed. When set up as a double bed the reading light on one side is out of reach.

Any other comments? - The accessible shower was very roomy. The drains worked excellent even is rocky seas. The floor outside the curtain did not get wet. It had a separate shower chair not a flip down bench.

Very convenient to O’Sheehans and MDR. Also the MDR (Summer Palace) is your muster station.  Whenever you’re on deck 8 just look for the signs to O’Sheehans and you know which way to head for your cabin.

Ship - Jewel

Deck - 9

Stateroom # - 9650

Stateroom Category – BA, Accessible Balcony, Aft

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Quiet, but the cabin door directly faces the aft elevator bank. My sailing was lightly occupied, so maybe less/no noise due to roughly 1400 passengers on board out of 2376 max capacity. Both cabins on either side were occupied and I didn't hear any noise through the walls.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions. With a little lean, I could see forward and aft.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - The balcony size was at least twice as wide as a non-accessible judging from my quick lean/look and looking up from the dock. The railing is a couple inches higher than regular balconies. It could easily fit three chairs plus the small table. This was my first accessible cabin, first balcony, and first NCL cruise in 18 years, so I asked my cabin steward if there was an empty non-accessible balcony cabin I could have a quick peek at to compare sizing, but his section was fully occupied.

Was wind a problem? - No, we had good May Inside Passage weather. It was a little breezy crossing the Gulf of Alaska between Hubbard Glacier and Seward, but nothing that kept me inside and I never feared my knit hat would blow off.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None.

Any other comments? - I qualify for an accessible cabin, but do not use a wheelchair. I found it odd there was no ramp to get up and out to the balcony and with the bed being so close to the sliding door I don't see how a ramp could be added if needed. I meant to ask my room steward about that, but forgot.

And the end of the bed blocks a few inches of access to the door. I had to go in and out at an angle.

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Extremely quiet and dark, only occasionally heard other guests in the hallway outside our room

Any other comments? - Close to O'Sheehan's. This is a sideways interior room, the bed orientation was in line with the ship (opposed to perpendicular) which was very nice!

Ship- Dawn

Deck 8
Stateroom #8000

Starboard Side

Was the cabin noisy-  Only during docking processes. The tie ropes seemed to come out of the hull right next to the room and the thrusters wee located directly below the room at the waterline.

Connecting Stateroom- No

Comments- the room was at the very, very front of the ship so it was a long trek from the stairs to the room each time. We had no maintenance issues at all. The space near the stool in the bathroom was very limited but the shower was good sized.

Would I recommend deleting this room- No

Ship - Getaway

Deck - 8

Stateroom # - 8126

Stateroom Category – M6 Club Balcony Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom?  – Very quiet. Never heard anything from other staterooms. Could hear the loudspeakers in the hallway, but very rarely anything else from out there. Could hear almost nothing from outside.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - No obstructions. Not terribly high up, but a very nice view nonetheless.

image.thumb.png.b0860efdd993ce8f62d2d30f0cef5a4e.png

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - We found the size to be quite nice. But since this was our first cruise, we don't really have anything to compare it to. There were two loungers and a tiny table, but still plenty of standing room at the rail. The rail has a glass front to accentuate the view, but it gets pretty dingy with salt. I cleaned it off a couple of times, but couldn't reach all the outside without leaning way over the rail, which I won't do, and definitely don't recommend.

Was wind a problem? - You can't avoid wind on a moving cruise ship at sea, but it never elevated to what we would consider a problem. There are partitions between the stateroom balconies, so the wind is less strong nearer the stateroom door.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Not an aft cabin.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - We were quite happy with the stateroom. Would have loved a bit more room and storage, but who wouldn't on a cruise ship? You get what you pay for.

Any other comments? - Liked the large bathroom, with the 'double' sink and shower we could both fit into. By the way, the Club Balcony Suite is not actually a suite, nor does it have any 'club' benefits. Apparently the name is just another marketing ploy.

The vast majority of side balconies on Breakaway/Getaway are this size. 😳

Our Club Balcony Suite was considerably bigger than that. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of it.

I know. I was commenting that your balcony was much larger than the typical side balcony on BA/GA.

For a first cruise, you had a great balcony on BA/GA.

Here is my review of cabin 9588 on NCL Star

Ship - Star

Deck - 9

Stateroom # - 9588

Stateroom Category – Balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Port mid fwd

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, except when tendering and nosy neighbours

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – good view, no obstructions

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? -  Yes, the cabin is directly above one of the davits that launch the tender boat (#12)so we were woken at 6 am on 5 of our 12 days.  Even on one none tender day this boat was launched, although a little later in the morning.

Any other comments? - I did not like the partitioning in the bathroom between toilet and vanity area - this serves no purpose.  Conversely the shower was large (and efficient)

stateroom category – club balcony suite

starboard or port side - port, aft

quiet stateroom? (with comments on problems) – emphatically no! the room is fine under normal conditions, but at high seas, you will not be able to sleep in this room. i lost three nights of sleep in 11344 until finally being given another room.

the problem has been documented in this thread:

was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - yes; some noise seeps through from the connecting room.

balcony view - give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – good view, no obstructions, proximity to deck 8 pools, bars, seating not a problem for noise. the balcony hangs above deck 8 and the balconies below; it is not on the side edge of the ship.

balcony size?normal or oversized for class? - normal

was wind a problem? - no

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem?  yes. this is a known problem on the prima.

any specific problems with this cabin? -  see linked thread for details of the disruptive and debilitating noise problem in this cabin

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – This cabin rattled the entire time...all day and night.  It was not the hangers and I had two engineers come to see if it could be fixed.  Their comment?  "You should hear some of the other cabins!"  Not helpful.  Their solution...4 chocolate covered strawberries and two sets of earplugs.  I ended up sleeping with the balcony door open so I could have some "white noise".

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – View is good.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? -  Normal.  Fits a small table and two chairs.

Was wind a problem? -  No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -  Not an aft cabin.  No soot issues

Any specific problems with this cabin? -  Just the rattling.  Everything else was fine.

Any other comments? - Would never book this stateroom again.
