Quantum / Anthem experts needed

Recommended Posts

I am looking at deck plans and some of the balcony cabins are listed as 198 sq ft with a 55 sq ft balcony. Yet when you look at the deck plans the D1 cabin 13248 the balcony looks to be much larger than other cabins that have the same description. Is this accurate or just the case of a bad picture when you look at deck plans?

It just looks like balconies are very variable in size.

help!

There are definitely bigger balconies. We have 6562 which appears to be larger as well.

I have found that RCI lists the balcony size that is common to the majority of cabins yet there are those few special ones (aft cabins come to mind as well as hump on some ships) where the balconies are larger than stated.

Sorry, but this is all blind speculation. The deck plan diagrams aren't always to a very accurate scale. The hump balconies might be deeper, as they are on some ships. Or, the cabin may jut out farther to match the contour, as is the case on other ships. Trying to find an "expert" on a ship that is under construction is a bit unrealistic...

The fine print on the Quantum deck plan states:

Note: Decks: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 D1 Balconies range from 55 to 119 sq. ft.

There have also been some great photos over on the quantum board where you have been able to see some of the balconies and that they are actually as the diagram indicates.

It doesn't make much sense to make a ship diagram that is not based on the actual ship design? You would have to recreate the same diagram. Why do double work that will cause people to have expectations that are not met with reality? Of course, nobody will know the facts until people have a real experience, but it doesn't make much sense to me to create a fake deck plan.

I think the note about the sizes being from the minimum 55 to a maximum of over 100 would seem to suggest my theory is correct.

who knows? No one has been on the ship so all you'll get is guesses

When I booked for the Anthem I needed a 3 bedded room with a sofa bed. I noticed that both D1 and D2 had the symbol for this. I asked what the difference was and was told it was the size of the balcony. Looking at the deck plan it does look like all D1's are showing larger balconies.

I booked a D1 on deck 10 that looks to have a very large balcony on the deck plans of the Anthem.

So, please come here and scream if the deck plans are not accurate. I only have about 17 months to change it to a less expensive balcony....:D

I have always studied deck plans and asked for specific cabins with larger balconies - these were always the same price as other balcony cabins and you got more bang for the buck by booking any of these larger balconies. It seems Royal made more categories, and that now one pays more for the larger balconies. I guess you now get what you pay for - we always tried for the hump with an angle - friends traveling with us got the same cat cabin SAME price, but our balcony was larger. So, hopefully deck plans on Quantum will be accurate. Likewise, I wish they would soon publish floor plans for ALL cabin categories. Surely, by now they are almost complete, and it would be nice to see cabin configurations.

Agree, it looks exactly like you describe. They have figured out we would pay more for a bigger balcony even more so than for a bigger cabin.

I'm curious about how the SpaJS will look. Here's a link to a rendering

http://www.trbimg.com/img-516d99fc/t...36/500/500x281

and the Spa JS description from the RCI website.

Bedroom area with two twin beds that convert to a Royal King, measuring 72.5 inches wide by 82 inches long. Large, spa-inspired split bath with soaking tub, and large separate shower. Shower has frosted glass wall that allows natural light from living area. Toilet and second sink in separate half bath. Sitting area with corner settee. Private balcony. Sleeps up to 2.

(267 sq. ft., balcony 81 sq. ft.)

Hi all.

I'm tying myself in knots looking for a cabin on Anthem.

Is it just me or does deck 3 seem rather undesirable? Same deck as theatre, casino, music hall and 2 restaurants, and under the main royal promenade deck?

What do you think?
