Single Supplement: 200% + $500?

Would you prefer that they "reserve the right to decline to sell the cabin for less than it's stated occupancy" ?

That was the way that Single Occupancy worked for many, many years....

Guess u don't ever see urself single widowed divorced or living with someone unable to travel.

I'd like them to take a page out of Azamaras book and offer some cruises or limited cabins at 25% single supplement

Life happens

I can see the 200% as all fares are for two but the 500$ seems like a rip off. I would look around. Oceania is not the only line. I think Crystal and the Europa2 have some deals for singles.

You should really take a look at the per diem cost. It either makes sense, or not. I've looked every which way I can and cannot figure out the value proposition. Glad they have such a following, but I'm not much of a follower.

Well I would find it absurd to charge an extra $500 to try recoop what someone may spend

We rarely spend more than $50-$100 so will they now start charging us extra because we do not spend enough

What is the surcharge for ??

That's an interesting concept - base the rates on past spending patterns...heavy gamblers in the casino might do well...

Have you asked what the surcharge is for??

Guess I learned two things in the last few weeks. Oceania is not family friendly nor singles friendly

They must be doing well to eliminate those two segments of the population.

This from Silversea: "Silversea is delighted to welcome you aboard our intimate, all-inclusive ships with single supplements on select voyages that are only 10% above Silver Privilege Fares. Every voyage includes a Welcoming Champagne Reception to make it easier to meet and mingle with solo travellers, and on select voyages, Gentlemen Hosts are also available as dance partners or dinner companions.

All-inclusive fares include a spacious, ocean-view suite, personalised butler service, complimentary wines and spirits, fine dining, sophisticated enrichment and entertainment programmes, and all onboard gratuities.

Come experience a voyage of a lifetime. Now there’s nothing preventing you from exploring the world."

Silver Privilege Fares are cruise-only prices. We found there to be quite a number of these "select voyages" to choose from.

No female hosts for the single guys?

I think this is more like it but it does not have be as low as 10% IMO. 100% plus $500 is just very harsh. I would like to see Oceania soften the policy to be more reachable by single guests. You never know when any of us may need to travel solo.

We don't spend much either other than unlimited internet and we usually have a large OBC -- but we are in the minority -- between alcohol, spa treatments, bingo, internet, the casino, shops and shore excursions I would guess 500 per person is about average. If they only have one person in the cabin, they lose that spending.

I think their entire approach is just wrong. Oceania can do better in this area.

They could also consider adding single special rates for cruises that are not selling well. Is it better to have a single paying 125% or an empty cabin?

[quote name=, Gentlemen Hosts are also available as dance partners or dinner companions.

I didn't realize Gentlemen Hosts are a job title. I wonder what the hiring criteria are. Is a resume required?

Quite a throwback.

Wonder what other services they provide LOLOL

You'd better look good in a tux, be able to dance, be utterly charming and sophisticated, be a great conversationalist and be willing to put up with the good the bad and the ugly.

I have a close friend who served this function -- although not on Oceania. This was before Oceania existed, and was probably on a mass market line. I remember that his cruise went through the Panama Canal (which enthralled him) and his duties were to escort the single ladies, dance with them, etc.

His resume was theater but he was also tall and handsome.

Also gay ... So no extra duties were implied or assumed.
