MJC Posted August 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2014 We truly enjoyed the CB this year in spite of being trapped in port for five days, and really liked the Grand class. We're considering a Caribbean cruise on the Emerald. What differences can we expect, if any?
Colo Cruiser Posted August 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2014 The Emerald is great. We love the Sabatinis location aft which has the excellent views. Right next door is Adagio lounge. I would take the Emerald over the CB if I had to make a choice.
CATGUY7 Posted August 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2014 We really were very pleased with our week on the CB, but we LOVED the Emerald. We may have been swayed by the ports of call, or the length of the cruise on the Emerald (10 days), but the crew and the ship were fabulous too. I would have to pick her too if given the choice. OCruisers Posted August 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Nothing against Caribbean Princess BUT our pick is Emerald in a heartbeat! :D LuLu

Rare Woobstr112G Posted August 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2014 While I am looking forward to our cruise on the CB, but nothing can beat the location of Sabatinis and Adagios.....:):):) Bob
geocruiser Posted August 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2014 I have been on Emerald twice ( a couple of years ago) and CB last Sept. I love Emerald. The food was great on her. CB was nice but I favor Emerald.

We're considering a Caribbean cruise on the Emerald. What differences can we expect, if any? Layout is basically the same with a few things in a different location. As others posted, Sabatini's location next to the Adagio Lounge (which is not on the CB) is the best enhancement. Also, on the CB Skywalkers has he "shopping cart handle" whereas on the Emerald Skywalkers is mounted just behind the elevators. I consider all other physical differences to be minor. skynight Posted August 3, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Emerald, basically more public space with the same number of passengers. A few advantages of the Emerald are, larger Wheelhouse Bar, larger Crown Grill, larger Sabatini's on deck 16 aft next to the Adagio Lounge and a nice outside seating area, better location of Skywalker's. Mostly because they were not an after thought on the Emerald. ;)

DebJ14 Posted August 3, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Trapped in port for 5 days? Must have been a fog cruise out of Houston! We had big problems with fog last winter. Our embarkation and debarkation were both delayed due to the fog. Thankfully, not for 5 days though.
Hoosier-Cruiser Posted August 3, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 3, 2014 Trapped in port for 5 days? There was a collision in the Houston Ship Channel that caused a tanker to leak crude oil. The channel was closed for 4-5 days due to this. I think this was back in February or March.

RCCL cancelled a 7-day cruise due to the spill.

martylouie Posted August 4, 2014 #16 Share Posted August 4, 2014 The aft pool is much better on those better on those ships that don't have Skywalkers in the sky. You get more sun. Crown, Grand (revised) etc. The ability to go from Lido pools to the aft pools is better on the Caribbean along with having a bigger steel beach in the aft upper decks. The choice is yours. Like food, this can be a matter of opinion. I enjoyed the shade that the shopping cart handle provided.
