Judith and I sail on the Vision for Bermuda on September 1st.

I will be doing a "LIVE REPORT" with lots of photos.

We are looking forward to sailing on the Vision again.

Trainman - yeah! I love your live reports. We sail the repo from FLL to Tampa in November.

Hope all is well with you and Judith

Does anyone know whether Starboard (right) side of the Pool Deck is dedicated to smokers? We aren't smokers but would like to know.

Thanks!

Yes, the starboard side is the smoking side. We are non smokers but did sit on this side, deck 10, both sea days. Saw ash trays but only 1 smoker. I do have to say this was the least smokey cruise we have been on, even in the casino only a few were smoking.

This is good news! Thanks for your reply.

I noticed you either sailed on the Vision or will sometime this month. Have you already returned or are you marking the days until you leave?:D

Does anyone have pictures of their cabin that they would like to share here on this thread?

It would make a nice contribution and serve as good information to future cruisers.

Thanks!

Here is an excellent and current thread of cr aft 8588.

I hope to provide some positivity soon. I'm real close to my first cruise on that ship. Of course, I go knowing it's Vision Class and not Oasis Class, so I'm not looking for wow. I'm just looking for a nice weekend getaway. :)

Me too!!! I will be on the 8/14 cruise..first time on RCI so we shall see. I have been reading reviews and always take them with a grain of salt. It's all about your expectations being framed appropriately. If you want grand and new, then book grand and new and pay for it!

Personally, I am looking forward to getting away, drinking martinis and having a blast!

Sounds like a great plan!

I will be on the 9/20 sailing, which will be my first aft-corner suite, so I'm psyched. I can't find a recent photo or video of my cabin (8088), but I've seen a few photos of JS 8588, which is the opposite corner and a mirror image of where I'll be. Can't wait.

I had the same concerns about the Vision prior to sailing a 5 night cruise to Key West and Grand Cayman. But my wife and I loved the Vision and had an awesome time. We have cruised with RCI 5 times and have always been pleased. We found the service, food and entertainment on the Vision to be excellent and we would definitely cruise on her again.

  • 5 weeks later...

Day 2 at Sea. Entertainment was Brandi Chapman (singer) formal night, meet the Captain in the Centram. Still haven't met room steward. Table change to early seating.. ten top, great people who we will make lasting friendships with.

Day 3 Charleston. Great time on our own.. went to Fort Sumter, churches, synagogue,Review of Vision of the Seas Pink sands and Palm Tree Cruise

We spent the day before at Hampton Inn, North on 12th street. Nice, clean, friendly, and close to the port.

We drove to Port Everglades, dropped off the luggage, parked and was on the ship by 10:45. dropped off medicine and carryon in the room, and then procedded to the windjammer for lunch. Food was bland and cold, with not much variety. Food barely changednfrom day to day. The ship was clean and easy to manever. Muster drill at 4pm, and then we had a Pink Boa wave on deck 5. Also had a pre meet and greet before. We had a very large group of cruise critic roll call, and this made it very fun as we met many wonderful new friends. Evening show was Michele Balan (comedy). Great show. HaveEntertainment is Brandi chapmann't met our room steward. Dinner was early seating. Sat at a 10 top with only us in a high traffic area. After no food for 45 minutes we left, talked to our head waiter and asked us to be moved the next night. Great decision

cemetaries, etc. I want to go back and see more. Entertainment production show Broadway Rhythm and rhyme. Peaople were walking out. 70's disco party in centram. Still haven't met room steward.

Day 4 at sea. Entertainment Joey Van (comedy and musical Impressions) Great show. Still haven't met room steward. Mini survery.. wrote out concerns, and placed in box. (who reads them anyway!)

Day 5. arrival into Bermuda at 7:30 PM. Hotel Director came to our room.. Gee, finally we get to meet our room steward. (he only works from 10-12 am for our rooms and again from 6-8pm. More on this later. Arrived into Bermuda.. NOTHING is open except 2 places to eat.. Frog and Onion, and Bonefish. Welcome kiosik is open, and a place to buy your bus and ferry passes. NOTE: The passes are by the day, so even with one hour left it would still count.. bought the 2 day (sat and sunday pass) should have only bought a 1 day pass as EVERYTHING is closed on Sunday, so what is billed as a 3 day Bermuda is really only one day. Ferry's do NOT run to St. George on Saturday, so it's a ferry to Hamilton, then an hour bus ride. Not enought time to do everything, due to time. entertainment is Michele balan again.

Day 6 full day in Bermuda. Ferry to Hamilton , then bus to the crystal caves. We did both caves, then lunch at Swizzle Inn. Took the buss to gibbs lighthouse. The bus drops you off at the bottom of the hill.. THEN it's a good mile or more up hill to arrive at the lighthouse. Took bus back to dockyard for shopping.. The glass blower was not doing any demonstrations as he was "out of supplies" (how do you run out of sand? the clay worker was not throwing any pottery, but firing in the kiln. Very dissapointing. entertainment was Martin Lewis (wizardry)

Day 7 1/2 day in Bermuda. Got up early and took at taxi ($5.00) as the busses don't start running until 11am on sunday. Went to Black Bay beach and found the sea glass! This was the highlight of Bermuda. Was able to sneak some back on board. Had 2 bads and they confiscated one. Back on board by 2pm for departure. Went to the museum and saw the Dolphin quest. Entertainment was Boogie Wonderland. Quest game show.

Day 8 sea day. Entertainment Savannah Jack. Google them.. they were the best entertainment onboard any ship so far, and they will be in florida, so we will see them again.

Day 9 Nassau..walked to Fat tuesdays, Junkanoo Beach and senor Frogs. Got caught in a huge rainstorm, so we hung out for a few hours at Senor Frogs! Entertainment was Just the orchestra so we didn't go. Aerial show.. 5 minutes (we sat for 2 HOURS) pEOPLE START SAVING SEATS. The theme was FROZEN. It had NOTHING to do with the movie Frozen, so everyone was really dissapointed. Love and Marriage show.

Day 10 At Sea. Entertainment Luis Dalton (jugger spinning plates) we left, Farewell shoe is centrum Renaissance aerial show and parade of flags.

OUR IMPRESSIONS

1. The food was typical and every evening it was either tasteless, overcooked, or just unappitizing. Very disappointing. Almost everyone was on their first contract, so everything was slow and just not up to royal standards.

2. Never met our room steward until day 5. Had to leave notes for shampoo, conditions, etc as they are no longer in the shower on the wall. After we complained, he started leaving them everyday.

3. Diamond lounge was very small, but overflow was in the some enchanted evening lounge. 5-830. They would take your order and then you wouldn't see them for 30-45 minutes. Met friends there every night, went to dinner, then went back after dinner. Appitizers were always cold.

4. towel animals are every other day. Hotel director sent us chocloate covered strawberries.. they were moldy (told sorry, but didn't get them repaced) everyone that we met had the same situations.

5. top tier party was Platinum and above in a small lounge (they had to have 2 as there were 1900 crown and anchor members)

6. No ice carvings, no galley tour, no behind the scenes tour, no deck party with food (only a white night dance party). Towel animal demo was just that.. no hands on to learn.

What I learned.. next time check out how much time you really are in Bermuda. Bringing your own wine on helped, Research what is available on the ship before you go. Even with all our cruises, we were a little dissapointed in the ship, BUT we went for the destination.

Sasysutler,

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. I enjoyed reading it. We will be on this ship in the Med next year.

What type of stateroom did you have? Were you satisfied with the room steward?

I guess I'll have to write some of my impressions about my 10 night Bermuda cruise...same cruise, totally different experience. LOVED the cruise. I'll find the time to make some comments soon.

I will say not even close to everyone was on their first contract. I saw more familiar faces on Vision than I've ever seen on any ship. So many were on board from last September and March of this year.

At this point in time I can say this is likely my favorite ship and crew...as much as I love two other ships, this one is overall the best.

Wow, Gina, that's saying something because I know you love Radiance. Glad you chimed in with your comments because the other post had me worried for a second. Looking forward to your further comments.

I'm just off the 10 night Bermuda sailing as well, and must say that sasysutler is pretty spot on. Biggest disappointment by far was the food: lack of both variety and empowerment by the staff to solve issues made dining quite grim. All the beef, fowl and vegetables had virtually no flavor--which was still better than the seafood, all of which had a very strong "fishy" smell and taste as if not stored properly. I took three bites of the lobster ravioli and was still tasting it the next morning. Many items ordered did not at all resemble the menu description. Steaks were ordered by our table on different nights but no matter how requested were all cooked the same way: heavily charred on the outside, cold and bloody on the inside. But my main comment on the survey was that if the very limited menu and at best indifferent service was all they could offer, RCI should seriously consider abandoning breakfast and lunch in the MDR so as not to have so many upset passengers (and low ratings on the survey).

Our cabin was not serviced until mid-afternoon on most days, and not at all on one. I will post a full review in the next day or so--but this is my first cruise on any line since the advent of auto-tipping [yes, I know it has only come recently to RCI] that I have deleted the tips.
