To see the map, go to hollandamerica.com and search for your cruise as if you were going to book it.  If it's still there, you can click through the information to find the ports of call and see the map.

To see the ports of call and excursions, login to your account, click on "my account" in the upper right hand corner.  On the next page, click on "My Bookings".  Next click on your confirmation number.  And then on "itinerary" in the upper left corner of the next page.  If that doesn't work (HAL's website can be flaky), scroll through "Select a Date" in the shore excursion section.

Great thanks!  I'm seeing the itinerary now.  Now, is this same info availale and in this format, on the Navitor app?

My memory says no; on the Navigator AFTER YOU BOARD, you will see each day listed separately with your HAL bookings per day. But others may be more recently familiar -- what say you, Roger? @Crew News

It is my experience that the information on the HAL website is nearly identical to that shown on the Navigator app "Itinerary" menu for each day with the exception of the map being shown only on the HAL website.  After boarding the ship, the Navigator app will be automatically updated to include dining times for each day, more specific shore excursion details (meeting times, location, and barcode for vendor scanning), and shore excursion tickets will be added to your Navigator "Wallet".

Some cruise lines allow passengers to bring a bottle of wine on board at embarkation without an additional charge. Other cruise lines charge a corkage fee even for one bottle of wine. What is Holland America’s policy?. I looked in the website but couldn’t find the answer.

I believe this is the current version of the HAL alcohol policy:

Corkage fee is $20/bottle, but feedback differs on if you'll actually be charged. We always pack wine in our carry-on per policy and answer "yes" when asked if we're bringing on wine when it's scanned, but have never been charged. Others report they have been charged. So, we're always prepared to pay and pleased when not charged.

As to amount you can bring on, currently says "reasonable amount" - whatever that may be. We have taken on 2 bottles each w/o issue.

That has been my experience as well. On our Oosterdam Italy and Greek cruise in 2022 we were allowed to bring wine onboard from wineries we visited on any HAL shorex that included a winery visit. We usually try to take 2 bottles with us when we board.

I might have missed the answer but how do you book a specialty restaurant before embarkation? The app does not seem to enable a booking at the Pinnacle grill.

Online, go to dining under "manage my booking."

On the App, bottom center click "experiences " then right above it "dining & drinks" and right above that "reservations available."

Then scroll to the venue in which you'd like to make reservations. Below is for PG, click "reserve now" and you'll see date & time options.

I'm a first time cruiser, travelling solo around Iceland later this summer on the Rotterdam (31 Aug to 14 Sept, already joined the roll call), and I have two questions that may be me overthinking things:

1) Does the gym on board require specific shoes (light coloured soles, not used outdoors) to use? I don't think I've seen any link to any gym rules on the website...

2) As a tea addict: What kind of tea (I mean proper, black tea) is available on board and where; and also, does room service deliver full pots of tea or is it in glasses/single servings, especially for breakfast?

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

1) no just a regular rubber soled shoe used anywhere is fine for the Gym.

2) You will find a very wide selection of teas onboard. You can request from room service a full pot of hot water with breakfast for your tea.

Thanks @terrydtx!
Unfortunately from past experience “wide selection” doesn’t necessarily mean a lot of choice when it comes to plain black tea… I have an aversion to Darjeeling and Early Grey teas, which too often are the only black teas available so if anyone could post a picture or a list of all the teas currently available on Rotterdam, I would really appreciate it. Otherwise I may have to add that to my packing list, as I really don’t function well without my morning cuppa…

If it was me, I would bring my own favorite tea just in case, it wouldn't take much room to pack. Not sure about HAL, but Celebrity cruises from the UK and northern Europe will provide a hot water kettle upon request to accommodate the large number of UK passengers. Good luck and have a great cruise on the fabulous Rotterdam.

@msjb22 not sure about PS, but kettles are not permitted in cabins on HAL. PS have microwave and other things that are not in other cabins, so it may be different for them.

I just got off Rotterdam a few days ago, and yes, movies were shown on the Lido Deck in the afternoon several times so it is "a thing" (announced in the daily program the day before).  Alternatively, they showed ongoing soccer matches.

There were very comfortable looking lounge chairs lined up facing the screen during those movie times (if you could get one -- the ship was full, so plan ahead).

But if you want to find out *now* what will be shown next month and when, when you're on, I don't know how or if you can reliably do that.

What I didn't understand is how people could watch a movie while at the same time there is so much noise and other activity from hundreds of people at the Lido, which was also unpleasantly warm, unlike a real theatre  (we preferred movies in our room).

I apologize, I didn't see your response until just now.

Thank you for letting me know.  I think the week we're on board, there are some additional sporting events that will be shown,

Does HAL do assigned dining times? I was all about flexible dining when I started cruising.... but I always go to the dining room when it opens, and I like knowing my wait staff. I don't see a way to request an early seating online...

Yes you can do it when you make the booking. As soon as it gives you a confirmation number, on that same screen (not in the email, but still on the website, so don't navigate away from it), it will ask if you want to make changes.  Directly beneath the confirmation # will he dining choice on the left and bed configuration on the right. If you missed that, you can call in and ask for it to he changed.

My booking says I can’t make dinning choices until final payment of cruise? Is that correct?

This would be very unusual. Do you have a special rate, like are you a travel-agent yourself (forget what that rate is called), or casino rate? Like Haljo said, you should be able to choose dining preference from making the booking.

How did you book? PCC, Travel agent, or HAL operator? That person or method should be able to put you down for any time not booked full.

So sorry I’m made a mistake! I have booked two cruises, one with Hal and one with princess and it’s the princess cruise that is telling me that. I will go and make my dining choice now with my Holland America cruise. Thank you

We just booked our first cruise in years on HAL.  I've seen questions about milks but not about non-dairy "milk" options.  Are there any options such as almond, coconut or oat milk for coffee or tea?

We will be on the Amsterdam and have a Neptune suite, if that makes a difference.

Yes, there are non dairy milks available. Lido has it in the morning where you would find the ice cream bar. You can also request it in MDR and Pinnacle. I'm not in tune with what Neptune suites offer, but I'm sure it will be available for you.

You should download the Navigator App so you can view the menus.  This is a small portion of the Lido’s breakfast menu.  You can see the variety of “milks” available in the Health Corner.IMG_0695.jpeg.bc8b53d2dd1b3026753df3d7d97bf18b.jpeg
