2 night Bahamas Cruise??!

Recommended Posts

I just booked a 2 night cruise Jan 4-6 on Freedom! I was so shocked to find a two night cruise with this company and we got it for a steal! Anyone have any info on what a 2 night ship activities would be like (i.e. formal night, entertainment etc.)?

The only two-nighters I have been on were pre-inaugural cruises. They were so-called "cruises-to-nowhere." The first night was formal on at least one of those cruises, but I don't recall if all were like that. Also we didn't have our choice of room, but were assigned our cabin.

Because the cruises were pre-inaugurals, the entertainment was very special and did not include bands, for example, that ever appeared on the ship again once regular cruises began. Also alcohol flowed freely and the meals were excellent. I think there were souveniers given too. I remember once we were given beach towels with the name of the ship on them.

I have a feeling that, as your cruise is not a pre-inaugural, you probably will not be given extra special treats, meals and free drinks. I would imagine the best of the evening theater shows will be performed.

It's great you were able to get such a favorable price. I bet you will have a memorable time.I applaud your good fortune.

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for but I can't imagine finding this type of cruise to be the slightest bit relaxing. By the time you move in it is time to pack up and move out.

That's true. I did find myself longing fr more, especially because we had driven a long way to get to the ship. We ate dinner with two gents who had flown in ofr the cruise. I don't think I'd fly for a two-night cruise.

The cruise is just to use up a few few days prior to the ship going to dry dock. If you look at the itinerary you are in Nassau only from eight in the morning until two in the afternoon. That means you will not be getting off the ship in Nassau till about 8:30 and will have to be back onboard around 1 or 1:30.

As to your formal night question, I doubt there will be any type of formal night and it is anyone's guess regarding the entertainment.

Enjoy

I thought it was great! It'll be our first trip away from our children ages 4 and 2. We're located in Orlando, so pretty close to where it is worth it. Since I've been on Freedom before there's no "getting to know the ship" phrase that you usually spend the first couple of days doing. Sound relaxing to me!! I'm so excited for this small trip and it's only costing is $300! How can you go wrong? A weekender trip anywhere with hotel and food would cost us more than that!

You could always move up to the JR. Suite for $600 that comes with $400 OBC!

If only the current OBC offer had Cash Value I'd book the JR Suite with $400OBC...

I want the points I feel like I'm never going to hit D+

I'd check out the prices on a 3 or 4 day cruise on Enchantment.

So cash out the OBC:confused: Whatever purser won't give you at 0% just take out in casino at 5%.

No definitive answer on whether the OBC from the latest sale can be cashed out - even in the casino. The T&Cs seem to say no.

Edit: "OBC is in USD, has no cash value, is non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and will expire if not used by 10:00 PM on the last evening of the cruise."

Is it not redeemable for casino chips, which also are not cash?

Unless you live within 2 hours of port, this cruise is not worth the time or money. 2 days? You hardly get onboard before it's time to leave!

I'm not sure I'd consider this, and we're only 45 minutes from the port. The last time we sailed out of PC this week in January, we woke up to snow on the pool deck on our last morning:eek:

We're traveling with a group of about 70 people. No formal night. Should be pretty normal activities. Just a 1/2 day in Nassau, but there are some excursions that can be booked if you choose. We'll probably stay on the ship or walk down to Senior Frogs for a margarita. Should be a fun mini-getaway!

I did the 2 day on Oasis in August. For sure, no formal night and they will not have time to offer all the shows. You might get the ice show and the main production show. If you go into it realizing that a crew that does 7 day cruises week in week out has very little experience doing a short cruise, and with the short cruise clientele, you will be fine. There will be hiccups.

Also there will likely be no alcohol packages offered, for those that care.

That said, if you live close enough to the port 2 days can be a nice getaway.

Ive thought about this cruise as well, my ONLY concern is that they will be starting dry dock work while onboard, my wife and I want to use this sailing to introduce her dad to cruising, but think it might be bad idea.

Agreed. The only way I would be interested is if I lived in Central FL and it was dirt cheap.

I did the 3 night weekend cruise. Never again.
