High or low?

Recommended Posts

I think everyone has their own opinion on this, but will we feel less motion in our cabin if we are higher up on the ship? We always stay mid ship in a balcony cabin and have normally stayed on floor 8 or 9. But on this next cruise, we can get a balcony cabin on the 11th deck for the same price as deck 9 (or 6).

We noticed A LOT more movement on the Legend this summer than we did on the Dream last fall. Is that because they were different sized boats? Camp Carnival was on deck 5 forward on the Legend and my daughter got sick almost every time she went. I'm hoping that it will be better on the Breeze. Camp Carnival is on deck 11, but is mid ship and looks like it has a lot of windows which I think (hope) will help her.

It's most likely the wave heights, ocean currents, wind speeds and wind directions were totally different between the 2 voyages.

Give her ginger. I take the tablets that I got from a health store, but they also come as a candy.

There is no opinion on this. Higher up or either end will have more motion. Put a little boat in a bathtub and make some waves. A child could see which parts move most.

If the water is smooth, doesn't really matter where you are. If the water is rough, different story. No way of really knowing before you go. My roughest cruise was in Jan (as in being woken up by being thrown out of bed into the middle of the floor) and I do not want to sail that month again. My sister sails every Jan because all her sailing has been very smooth.

I think you'll be just fine on deck 11. But I have to agree with everyone who has stated mid deck / mid ship as the ideal location to minimize movement. That's been the best location in my experience.

Have a great trip! :)
