Well, I just took my bags to the porch and the Airport Shuttle will be here at noon. On Sunday, I'll be boarding the last New Years Cruise for the MS Ryndam, as in the future the ship will be one of the first to welcome each New Years in it's new identify. I'll be providing my usual reports here, and pictures and extras, along with my entries will be in the usual place:

Greetings from BWI. Just under two hours till I board.

Thanks all.

Notes4theheart, are you signed up for the meet and greet?

Victoriann, I'm sure it will far more bittersweet for others than for me. This will be my only cruise on the Ryndam so there's no history to regret. Wow, typing on an IPAD is a real pain. Much handier when you're just looking at things.

As always, I'm looking forward to reading your enjoyable reports. Wish you a happy new year, and lots more cruising in it, too! :D

I'm sorry that I won't have a chance for one more cruise on this ship before she leaves the fleet. :( You'll just have to have the good time for me.

Thank you everybody.

With a cruise leaving Sunday I had several reasons to leave on Thursday. A primary factor was that flying in winter weather is unpredictable and earlier is better than later. I also thought that travel on Christmas would be a bit lighter than the days on either side and Christmas travel allowed me to be home for Christmas Eve services. My parents also retired to nearby Lakeland and there are some things I would like to do in the area.

As it turned out things worked better than expected. Heavy rains were predicted for Christmas Eve but there was just a near negligible drizzle when the time for serves came. The weather turned beautiful on Christmas Day with a high around 50 in Baltimore and 70 in Tampa and clear skies both places. I had heard of storms in the midwest but when I spoke to my brother late morning they were having a fine day as well.

The Airport Shuttle was due at noon. When I took the last of my bags out to the curb about 11:45 he was just pulling up the street. After quickly turning off the lights and locking the doors we were off. The last time I flew TSA precheck caught me by surprise as I had put all my metal in my jacket pockets expecting to remove it but this time I was ready and security was a breeze. I was in the gate area about 12:30, ample time for a quick lunch. My flight was the second leg of a Boston-BWI-Tampa itinerary and the inbound plane was actually early. My flight boarded and departed on time. I am starting a new book, The Psychopath Inside, a followup to one of the lecturers from my October Queen Mary 2 crossing. The author is a brain specialist who studied psychopaths from the viewpoint of scanning brain activity, and discovered that his brain shared many of the defining traits of a psychopath. I am now about 20% through the book. After the 2 ½ hour flight I left the plane about 5 minutes past the 5:50 schedule. I arrived at the Sheraton Suites airport about 7.

There is a lot closed on Christmas day but I walked a couple blocks to a gas station for some snacks and spent the evening in the hotel.

As today’s parting shot, the day after Christmas is recognized through much of the world as Boxing Day with a number of regional traditions. In the US it is more widely known as a mass shopping day. Whatever your Boxing Day tradition may it be beyond your expectations.

If you don't yet have one, get a stylus to use on the iPad. It makes the typing a little more user friendly. I will be buying a blue tooth key board for iPad before my next blog. I prefer to touch type and hunt and peck, even with a stylus is tiring if you do long blogs.

And watch that autocorrect!! I have sent some really strange messages because of it!! While the iPad is easy to carry there are things about it that drive me crazy, too

Have a good cruise on one of my favourite HAL ships.

Definitely invest in a bluetooth keyboard. We got a case with a built-in keyboard for my MIL when she got her iPad and I am extremely jealous if it. I am considering getting one for ours. It's so much easier!
