Karysa Posted January 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2015 (edited) Hello I am looking for advice on a cruise - in Europe - that visits small ports rather than the cities. Any ideas ? Our Adriatic sea cruise stopped in Slovenia, and Ravenna Italy which are smaller places. Some stop in smaller cities but the attractions that most want to see are an hour away or more sometimes. Where were you thinking of visiting? Edited January 19, 2015 by Karysa
CruiserBruce Posted January 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2015 The smaller the ship (which may, but not always means more expensive) the smaller the ports it may go to.
paul929207 Posted January 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2015 Many of the major European cities are well inland. In those cases, the ship stops in a smaller port. Examples include Civitevecchia for Rome, Livorno for Florence
Rare LHT28 Posted January 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2015 check Premium or Luxury lines with smaller ships River cruise may work depending where you want to go Any hints??
Rare Essiesmom Posted January 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2015 Windstar, Seabourn, Azamara, Oceania, Compagnie du Ponant, Saga, Thomson, Louis Lines, Silversea, most of the high end lines. But Celebrity Constellation is visiting some of the smaller ports this year. Go to http://www.cruisetimetables.com/ and go to the second list of ports (destinations) and choose some smaller ports, such as those in Croatia and Greece, then plug in the timeyou want to sail, and see who is going there and their itineraries.
