Not the typical Cheers question!

You may not be able to justify it. I would seriously sit down and add up how many drinks you think you will have on sea days and how many you think you will have on port days and see if the cost is worth it. I would only have a drink or two a day, at most. I am diabetic and all the fun sweet drinks aren't good for me so I tend to stick to a beer or two and maybe a vodka on the rocks. None are ideal for me but not as bad as the fruity drinks full of alcohol AND sugar.

IMO, unless you drink ALOT the cheers program doesn't really "save" you anything!! You may very well break even but I don't think you really come out ahead!!! On our last cruise we purchased the cheers program and spent over $800.....I was so sick of drinking by day 5 but I felt like I had to at least break even each day to get my money's worth!!! I would not have drank as much as I did had I not purchased cheers!!! We will not be purchasing it on our next cruise!! It's really just a personally thing, weighing out the cost vs. how much you drink!!

Have a bunch of bloody marys with breakfast and stay up till the day shuts down at 6am the next morning.

Seriously, you need to break down the perday price and then divide in the cost of what you would spend for a single drink if you didn't have cheers. If the break even point is 6 or 7 drinks Cheers may be good for you regardless of a port day. The extra 8 drinks on a sea day may be worth it.

Is there a drinks price list anywhere to see if it'd be worth it based on the kind of drinks we will order??

Some where on this site there is a breakdown of what you need to drink per day to make it worth it. Personally I think the program is worth it more for liquor drinkers (mixed drinks) then beer drinks just from a sheer cost factor. It takes a couple less Martini's then it does beer to make it worthwhile.

At any rate, to answer your question, with 2 port days, I'm assuming a 4 or 5 day cruise. From that perspective, let's say you need 8 beers a day to breakeven. Let's say it's a 4 day cruise. If you drink 12 on your sea days (very possible with no intoxication) You only need 4 a day on port days to break even (Total 32). 5 days would make it a no brainer.

Now my 7 day with 4 port days (with 1 embarkation day and 2 sea days) it seems a lot more difficult. I have to drink 12 beers on Embarkation date (likely drunk in a shorter period), and on both sea days. Then 4 a day on port days. Now we are mixed drinkers, so that changes a lot too. 6 drinks a day seems a lot more doable, especially with a Mimosa or two in the morning, which I am sure to have each morning to get a good start (if I'm doing cheers). :)

My big concern is cheers will make me drink more then I normally would. Though without cheers we likely buy a wine package, which combined with daily drinking will probably add up anyway. I think the program, at current price is set up to make breakeven best case scenario for most, which makes it not worth it. I'm still torn. I know could get my money's worth; my wife....Probably not.

Cheers is so worth not playing the guessing game at the end of your cruise. A few beers, a few frozen drinks, plus your sodas which are all included under the drink package is worth it. My husband and i purchased the cheers package on breeze cruise and it was well worth it. We are drinkers, and never once did we come close to our 15 drink limit but you break even at about 8 drinks. Hello 1 beer cost $6.95 and a frozen drink is $8.95, do the math. The best part was we could try new drinks and not worry if we did'nt like them, we waited the five minutes and ordered something different. We also enjoyed going to Red Frog Pub to visit our favorite bartender, we took care of him, and he took care of us! I am in the service industry and have been for 30 years and I can tell you, being polite and respectful will get you along way. Take care of your servers and they will take care of you.:D

So if I purchase Cheers, how do I justify the 2 port days? We have an excursion at both ports from 9-5. So isn't that just a waste?
As I have previously mentioned on countless other Cheers threads.....if you get back on the ship at 500 and you're tired and you crash at midnight, that still gives you 7 hours to drink. If you have 1 drink per hour, you have made your quota assuming your average drink is 7.25. If you have a ship with an Alchemy Bar, all you need to do is drink 5 upgraded drinks @ 9.95 each to break even. If you're a beer drinker, how about 4 beers and 4 shots over 7 hours? Easily doable.

If you drink wine, we think that it's a no brainer.

Grab a glass of wine as you head down to dress for dinner.

A glass of wine pre-dinner as you head to the dining room.

Two glasses of wine with dinner.

One after dinner drink.

That puts you pretty close to the daily cost of Cheers, and that doesn't consider the possibility of a morning Bloody Mary and/or Proesecco, or a frosty drink out by the pool at some point.

As one poster mentioned. Bloody or Mimosa (or 2) with breakfast. Then ordr Beer unopened to put in your room on ice. Pre-meal cocktail, one at MDR, and perhaps an appertiff. You also get bottomless bubbles so if you drink soda there ya go. Not all that hard.

One advantage is knowing what to expect from your bar bill, another is getting to try different drinks and if you don't like them oh well.

Also if you order "classic cocktails" you get 5$ match play in casino.

does anyone know the cost for an 8 day cruise. We weren't at all considering it, but now since we switched to the 8 day we are at least doing the math on it. We have 3 full sea days and La Romana we may do a short excursion but I think we may have a half day on the ship then too, not sure. Is it still the 49.95/day for an 8 day or is it more or less?

As many of the others have posted: mimosa or bloody mary or two with breakfast, frozen drinks by the pool, wine with dinner, baileys after dinner=

WINNER!!!!!!!!

We did Cheers two years ago on the Liberty, we had 4 days of back to back ports, was a bit leery of buying it but we did. Saved all our receipts and added it up one day when we got home! Paid $700 or so and had about $900 or so of beverages! A $200 savings in my eyes.

Our last cruise we purchased a bottle of rum from Bon Voyage and brought on our allotment of Coke along with the two bottles of wine. We then allowed ourselves to purchase drinks when and where we wanted for the duration of the cruise and we spent less on all our alcohol combined compared to what the Cheers program would have cost.

We did have 4 port days (7 day cruise) - 2 of the ports we were at resorts with all you can drink - so drinking was a bit limited when we got back. 1 port we were on an island tour for a good part of the day and the 4th port we just went onshore for a little bit then came back.

Now if they bring the reduced pricing back that was tried out for a little bit - we are all in for Cheers. May spend a tad bit more than we normally will, but would be well worth it!

8 days = $459.54, and everyone 21 and older in the same cabin must purhcase.
