When it didn't appear on our bill, I went to the pursers desk and was told they would mail me a check for the amount. Has this happened to anyone else? Was offered the money as an OBC for our next cruise. :rolleyes: Our experience may have been a one off. However, in future will ask for cash or cheque at the time in the casino, and not put back on the room card. They are separate from the ship account from what I remembered and they stated emphatically that you must cash out to get your money. Hopefully things work out for you! Sometimes there will be announcements, too. You're blessed that they're still going to send you the $! Live and learn; you'll know for next time. Hope you get your $ soon! Thrak Posted March 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) I'm just shocked that someone was actually a winner! :eek: While we don't gamble in the casino I too am surprised that someone who does gamble would be unaware that you are to cash out before the end of the cruise. Sadly, like others posting here, I don't have any constructive advice to offer as I have no experience in this area. I certainly hope things work out for the OP. I was on the first leg of a B2B and I got a call at 11:00 pm on the last night telling me I had to clear my casino account. I got down there and brought back all of my loot (about 2 bucks)! I too am surprised they won, although i did on my 2nd cruise, hit $800 cumulative on a 'quick hits' machine on the last night about 30 minutes before closing time. IF you have chips or a ticket yes you have to "cash it out" ie present it for payment. Sounds like the OP presented their ticket to the machine and the machine accepted it, if so the credit should be issued right away. For the slots it is a cashless system. You insert your cruise card and create a casino account on it protected by a pin number you select. You then have the option of either inserting bills into the machine to "load" your account or you can take an advance from your ship account to load. At that point the casino account is separate from your ship account. They make it very clear that you must cash out at the casino cage before the last night's casino closing to retrieve your winnings. You present your cruise card and then enter the pin you created to secure your casino account on a keypad and the cage host cashes you out. Hopefully the OP gets it all squared away, but can certainly save themselves a huge headache by simply doing what they drill into you over and over in the future. Remember if a USA citizen and -IF- you hit $$ (a hand paid jackpot) - you will be required to complete that dreaded reported income tax-form with follow-up from our friends at the FED. There can be circumstances when the casino unexpectedly cannot remain open as expected for you to go back and cash out later. Examples: o Unable to sail from a port in time and thus not in international waters. o Medical evacuation which brings you out of international waters. o Speed up to get to a port (including on last evening) to avoid weather conditions and thus get out of international waters faster. The reason I say that is on the Carnival Splendor I walked up to a machine and inserted my card. Put my PIN in and realized I had over $200 on the machine and had not done anything else. Not downloaded funds or anything. The person before me, I am sorry I had no idea who that was, pulled their card out and walked away. I called the attendant and he had me cash out. He told me they would hold the money for 48 hours. If no one claimed it I would receive it because my card cashed it out. Two days later I received the money on my ship board account. All be careful. Seems several people feel the need to reply that have no first hand knowledge of the subject. I am dealing directly through Princess, at least they are more to the point with the issue.
