Cricket63 Posted March 31, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Do not wait till the last minute if you need to iron them. Go down the first afternoon/night or early the next morning to do this. The second night is the Captains dinner and you may end up waiting in line for 30 minutes or longer!
Langley Cruisers Posted March 31, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Thank you; this applies only if your ship has a self-serve laundry and iron facility. Not all of them do, in which case there are other options.
cb at sea Posted March 31, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Or, iron before you pack...hang up as soon as possible....a crease or two won't hurt anything!
OCruisers Posted April 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2015 The Captains Dinner is just another formal night so don't get overly concerned about some wrinkles. After you put them on they'll be wrinkled again after about 10 minutes. ;) ... :D LuLu
Cruisin' Chick Posted April 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Which cruise line are you talking about?
Krazy Kruizers Posted April 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Most of the ships we sail on do not have self service laundries. All ironing and laundry has to be sent out. So as soon as our luggage arrives we hang everything up. Clothes that have wrinkles -- hang in the bathroom and let the steam from the shower help remove them. Rala Posted April 1, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Assuming that the clothes you will be wearing are clean, the ship charge for PRESS ONLY is pretty reasonable. On a cruise a couple of years ago, I was charged less than $6 for 2 dress shirts and a pair of khakis(dockers) to be pressed. They did an awesome job...much better than I could/would have done.:)

This is a great tip, but which cruise line are you referring to? We had dinner with the Captain on the Radiance of the Seas on Formal night. It was a fantastic experience. Cruisin' Chick Posted April 4, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 4, 2015 I have a feeling the OP is talking about one of the formal nights and not necessarily talking about dining at the same table as the captain. Again, it would help to know which cruise line and even ship you're talking about. And if you're giving advice, many passengers will have access to a self-service laundry room (that have irons and an ironing board one can use in that room) on some cruise lines such as Princess and Carnival. Most ships will have a pressing service for a fee. But the best bet is just packing carefully, take items that are wrinkle resistant, or just don't get overly concerned (and there are many of us in that last category). If you are concerned, bring along a spray that helps get rid of wrinkles and use your bathroom by turning on the shower for some minutes.
GUT2407 Posted April 4, 2015 #14 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Another small hint on some ships I can get a suit cleaned and pressed cheaper than I can at home, so I usually put it in as soon as I embark and get it done.:D
JimAOk1945 Posted April 4, 2015 #15 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Here's another tip. On some cruise lines, guests staying in a full suite can have their Formal night clothing pressed for free.
ducklite Posted April 5, 2015 #16 Share Posted April 5, 2015 My advice is to send out anything that needs ironing when you arrive the first day and pay the whopping $15 in laundry fees you'd incur. Take what you pay per minute in cruise fare, transportation, and tips and I'm guessing you'd more than break even.
