Shot of Grey Goose straight up (over ice) Probably $7.95. Add a glass of tonic. $2.50-3. $9.75-$10.50. Call that a wash versus GG and tonic. Because the Bartender will probably give a little more than a shot in the GG and tonic compared to GG And a Tonic.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought their listed prices for their drinks were the same as if they were in a mixed drink. For example, if grey goose is listed as $7.95, it would be that price either straight up or as a part of a cocktail like a vodka tonic?

I'm not sure its a wash. If a drink is more than $10 it is not allowed on Cheers. I don't like overly strong drinks - I just want to be able to drink the brand of

Vodka I prefer. An 8 day cruise will cost us $919. I should be able to get a GG and tonic!

I would not mind combining the Tonic and vodka myself - how can I find out if tonic is allowed on the bubbles program? Does anyone know if it is printed anyplace?

This is correct. Drink cost includes mixers. Even in a tall glass with extra mixer. - in this example - only one shot but a tall glass there was no surcharge for us. Only cost of vodka.

Also, We were on carnival victory on April 23rd. One of our party ordered grey goose and diet sprite. It was covered by cheers.

Yes, that'll be good for us. We're really unsure. We usually just drink a few buckets of beer a day, and I might have one drink of the day. I was interested in trying more cocktails and martinis on our upcoming cruise. I hope they haven't priced the mixed drinks out of the Cheers program.

Hi Ariel0185, I found this information about the Cheers program. My husband and I are also debating with the changes if it will be worth it, especially since all adults over 21 in the same room must purchase it. My hubby isn't much of a drinker but on vacation, I love to socially drink. Hope this information helps!

Since August 08, 2014, the effective prices of Carnival “Cheers” beverage package were based on the cruise length. The Cheers pricing went as follows:

cruise length per-day price per-day price

+15% gratuity savings over the previous

Cheers program cost

3 days $55 $63 $190 $52

Carnival Cheers program details 2015

The card must be purchased on the embarkation or the next day. According to the Carnival Cruise Lines alcohol policy, passengers must be 21 years of age or older to order/receive alcoholic drinks on board their ships (including the all-inclusive alcohol package). The places where guests can sign up for it are at the ship’s atrium (Lobby Bar) and the casino bar, and also at the main swimming pool bar.

Which beverages qualify for inclusion in the program? – All beers, wines (by the glass), non-alcoholic frozen drinks, and yes – sodas are also for free here. There’s a 15 drink limit per day (alcoholic beverages, per 24 hrs period – 6am to 6am).

Your drink must have a bar menu price of max US $10. For drinks which cost more than $10 – an 25% discount is offered (including on wine/champagne sales by the bottle).

You guys should know when enough is enough, but know that (in a day) after your 15th drink is being served, a bar manager (the Carnival staff) will decide whether to continue to serve you or not. Safe drinking (on cruise ships too) is important, so drink responsibly. Recently, Carnival defended itself against Cheers guests complains and pretty real charges by the International Cruise Victims Association about the 15-drink limit by saying, quote: “If a bartender determines someone is too drunk to continue drinking before the 15 drinks are reached, they will be cut off from the program for the rest of the cruise and will be refunded the balance of the package”. Always fun on Carnival ships, right?

Cheers beverage program – inclusions and restrictions

It is mandatory the “Cheers Program” to be purchased from each adult assigned to the same cabin (everyone over the age of 21 in your cabin). The program is non-refundable. You’ll be charged the number of nights (a 7-day sailing is “8 calendar days/ 7 nights” so you’re charged 7 nights). Remember – the “Cheers” program can be purchased the 1st or 2nd day only.

Since Galveston laws don’t allow the Cheers program, on a 7-day cruise out of Galveston TX Carnival will charge you for 6 days. You can not do it until the next day when the ship is in international waters, and you’ll pay a total of US$592 per cabin (2 adults).

You can’t buy multiple drinks at once – permitted is only 1 drink to be ordered at a time, and there’s a 15 minutes in between limit.

Additional cost – when the ship sails in US waters (also docked in US port), state and local taxes will be applied. You’ll be taxed per drink, so add $0.50 to each drink.

Carnival Lines reserve the right to refuse service for any reason.

The “Cheers” program is not available on cruise charters.

The “Cheers Program” does not include room-service drinks and drinks from mini bars

“free non-alcoholic drinks” list includes non-alcoholic frozen cocktails and soda only (no bottled water).

Drinks on promotion, drinks sold in souvenir glasses or served through vending machines, coffee drinks, bottles of liquor, drinks offered at gangway (on debarkation) are also not included.

The program also excludes any food items, all other drink-related packages, cook- & bar books, drink seminars & classes, cigarettes & cigars.

It is not permitted in any way to share the “Carnival all-inclusive drinks”.

About purchasing the Cheers program by both adults in the room – there are no exceptions for medical/religious reasons! However, there are some passenger reports proving otherwise. Making an exception might be a decision based on the guest’s status by the Carnival VIFP Club/loyalty program more than any particular medical reasons. So bring your med documentation with you and ask the Guest Services Desk staff nicely – you never know what, and it won’t hurt to try! This article is integrated with Carnival drink packages and the Carnival drink prices (by the glass & liquor by the bottle).

Carnival Cheers Program has started with the Victory ship and has been tested on a trial basis. Because this beverage package gained enormous popularity, and also due to the reasonably low number of reported issues, more and more Carnival ships will offer cruises with the “all-inclusive alcohol cruise” option. As a comparison, the card cost roughly covers the cost of 5 Martinis, 7 Vodkas or 8 Beers (Domestic brands) – according to the Carnival Bar Menu prices (inclusive of gratuities).

Funny... I don't remember the last time I saw a thread about how the price of Bread, Milk, Eggs, Oil, Gas, Beets, Corn, Salsa, Beef, Chicken, Pork, whatever... went up... But as soon as Carnival raises their prices, it's a national tragedy about them gouging us....

Alcohol is optional... wait until you get home and get yourself blitzed for 10% of the cost.. If you must get drunk.

hmmmm....could it be because this is a cruise forum? Why would we ever discuss the increase in prices of food? The increase in alcohol prices on a cruise ship a logical thing to discuss on a cruise forum.

Anyone know how much a bucket of beers is and if it's buy 5 get one 1 free?

Our next cruise we'll be taking our DD7 with us, so it wouldn't make sense for the Cheers program, but a few buckets of beer would be great.[/Q

Asked and not answered! :(

You get 4 beers in a bucket... you get a price break of 50cents per beer off the normal individual beer price. you save 2.00 by buying a bucket of 4

This thread is interesting to me for a couple of reasons. I have never cruised with Carnival, but my husband and I have been strongly considering it for the past year. We've been loyal Royal cruisers and have another cruise on Oasis coming up later this year. We aren't heavy drinkers, but because of the recent drink price increases on RCI, it's made the beverage package more appealing - we've purchased it for this upcoming cruise.

For some comparison, we paid $404.74 (including the recent gratuity increase to 18%) per person for a 7-day cruise. What made us go for it was that Royal recently increased drink prices by around 40% across the board. As an example, a frozen mojito - one of my favorite drinks - was around $8 (plus tip) when we cruised end of last year. It's now $12, plus 18%, for a grand total of over $14 for one drink!

For what it's worth, there are probably a dozen threads on Royal's boards about drink price increases and beverage packages.

Depending on what one drinks, with the Premium Package the "break even" point would be 4 frozen cocktails per day. Their Premium Package includes all drinks up to $12 (not including the gratuity... so you can have any drink with a $12 menu price) excluding fresh squeezed juice and specialty coffee. There are no limits on the # of drinks you can have per day. And not everyone in the cabin is required to purchase.

The recent price hike isn't the reason we're thinking of trying Carnival though. It's not price related at all. In fact, I don't see huge differences in Carnival's vs. Royal's pricing for similar cruises. CCL doesn't have an Oasis or Quantum class of course, so that's not a fair comparison. But on comparable ships the prices are around the same. For us we just thought it would be nice to try something new - and a new itinerary.

I just thought a comparison between the alcohol prices and packages might be an interesting comparison to those on Carnival feeling the pain of the price increases. It's happening across the other lines as well - but Royal's recent increase seems to be the biggest hike I've come across on the boards.

We have actually done this a time or two - with no problem. But, I have heard Port Canaveral is not as liberal in their searches. Also, my husband was not a fan of running back to the cabin to get a drink.

Rum runners, place in shoes in suitcase. My wife usually carries some time of bag when we sit poolside to carry magazines, books, sunscreen and such. I always put my rum runner in that, bought s coke and mixed my drink right there poolside.

I'm not sure I understand the "plus tip" for the Cheers program, so please bear with me.

Is the tip being referred to an automatic gratuity added on to each drink and added to my final bill, or is it the tip I would normally give to my server &/or bartender, or both? And what about taxes?

Just trying to figure out how much money to plan on spending.

TIA

When you buy the Cheers program, you pay the 15% tip up front on the program, so it is the $49.95/day plus 15%.

When you get a drink, you get a slip to sign. For the first few hours while in California waters, there was tax added to each drink when I signed. After that the slip was $0.00 with a line for tips of course. I did generally tip $1 with each drink for the bartenders I liked.

I apologize if I am being redundant on this topic, but I want to make sure I have this totally clear. On our last 2 cruises, the cheers program allowed us to get a margarita or bloody mary with the premium patron or gg. Now, since the drinks are $8.75 or higher; they are not included since the premium alcohol is an additional $2? However, I can still order a bay breeze with gg, but not a cosmo. Am I correct? Also, does anyone know if the Pinot Grigio or Pinot Noir has gone over $10? This will really change our plans for the coming cruise!

Wow $35 for 4 beers is absolutely outrageous. Especially for something like Bud Light!

I am really thinking that person made a mistake since have seen several places where quoted less than $35 still. Maybe a bucket of Fosters for $35???
