mark22mac Posted June 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2015 Was looking at sailings for April 2017 and was Just wondering how long out is the farthest you booked a cruise and did the price usually go up or down before final payment. I've never booked more than 9 months out.
Clarea Posted June 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2015 We've booked 2 years out before, and the price never went below our initial purchase price. There are so many factors, such as itinerary, ship, stateroom type, time of year, etc.
LuCruise Posted June 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2015 We booked 16 months out. Price has only gone up . Total increase is $1500 but that's after today's crazy 'sale' price.
DonnaK Posted June 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2015 We booked Quantum on the day bookings opened for a cruise that was 18 months in the future. WE were on a cruise at the time, and were given an offer that was better than what the website was offering, so we jumped on it. The price never went down. George C Posted June 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2015 Because of the 1st BOGOHO sale we booked 3 cruises and 1 was 2 years away then while on cruise last month we booked a Europe cruise 19 months away
Rare mac_tlc Posted June 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2015 We booked the Serenade for March 2016 exactly 2 years prior. More because we wanted cabin #1100 than the price, although the price is up considerably since then, probably 40% - 50% or so. mac_tlc
SFD998 Posted June 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2015 We just booked an April 2017 cruise the other day and the price has already gone up nearly $500.

1ParticularHbr Posted June 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) We've booked 16-18 months out the last few years and have only seen prices increase. For our October 2015 cruise (booked March 2014) we called a few weeks ago to see about changing cabin class and the agent said "Wow, you got a killer price. Don't change a thing!" Fastback89 Posted June 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 2, 2015 The cruise we're going on in 40 days was booked a year out. I thought that was crazy, now I don't feel so bad.
dschultz56 Posted June 2, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 2, 2015 We booked one 2 years out when on our April 2015 cruise. That is the farthest out we've ever booked one. It is an 11 night cruise so the 1/2 deposit and 400 in OBC was too good to not book on board.
George C Posted June 2, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Can not book to far out if you want a certain cabin, when we booked our Europe cruise 19 months out my 1st 4 choices for cabins. suites were already taken
luvscruising2007 Posted June 2, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) We booked in March 1014 for our April 2016 Serenade cruise. That's the farthest out we have booked. Price has only gone up. I take that back. We were able to take advantage of BOGHO sale when it first was introduced and that saved us some money. EMED2010 Posted June 2, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 2, 2015 I booked my August 2015 Alaska cruise the day it opened in March 2014. I wanted to get a specific room so I booked right away. I was able to get the price reduction when they ran a sale (buy one get 2nd 50% off). Since then, the price just keeps going up.
susancruzs Posted June 2, 2015 #16 Share Posted June 2, 2015 I always book my cruises well over a year out. However, I'm retired, I sail as a single and for itinerary. My Med/TA B2B for this October, I booked in March, 2014. I received a very good price reduction (over a thousand dollars) several months after I booked. I book with a travel agent, same one for years, part of a major agency and I never have to ask for price drops, they email me.

sr4mjc Posted June 2, 2015 #18 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Nearly two years for our South America cruise on Celebrity. We were wondering if Royal was going to sail there in 2017 but they aren't. Now all the concierge cabins are already booked except C3's.
DebJ14 Posted June 2, 2015 #19 Share Posted June 2, 2015 We booked in May 2014 for November 2015. Glad we did because the price did nothing but climb for a GS and all the suites sold out very quickly.

Goodtime Cruizin Posted June 2, 2015 #21 Share Posted June 2, 2015 19 months on our next cruise and 20 months on the next. We're firm believers in booking way ahead. The price has doubled on both cruises and if by chance it does go down, which I seriously doubt, we can take advantage of it if it does.
Cruisin' Along Posted June 2, 2015 #22 Share Posted June 2, 2015 17 months in advance for our RCI cruise in Sept 2016. Prior to this one, we've usually booked about 5 months in advance.

Paulette3028 Posted June 2, 2015 #24 Share Posted June 2, 2015 We booked a cruise on Harmony for February 2017, 627 days prior to sailing....never thought we would book a cruise that far out, but the price was incredible and could not imagine it being that low again. The real interest in the ship for me is the waterslide. We have sailed on Allure, and enjoyed it, but the size is not my favorite, but the waterslide is what I am looking forward to. I believe the ideal size ship is either Freedom or Voyager classes.
