Getting from Fort Lauderdale to Port Canaveral?

We will be ending one cruise in Fort Lauderdale and starting another in Port Canaveral, then possibly returning back to Fort Lauderdale later. Is there a good mass transit option, or would we be better off just renting a car? Any recommendations for a car rental location in Port Canaveral? Thanks.

The common recommendation on this board is to rent a car.

Some shuttle to locations just outside the gate while other car rental agencies are at FLL - I would go with whoever gives you the best deal. A taxi from PE to FLL is only $15

Budget. If you are going on Royal there is a Pay less practically across the street

This is a 3-4 hour drive so renting a car is the best option.

You'll need a shuttle form PC to the rental agenices, but they're mostly downA1A, North Atlantic Blvd. I think Hertz is the closest with Payless being over next tot he new Holiday Resort (old Ron Jon's). But as there's no one way drop charges in FL, as another poster has said, just book the best deal. Time from ship to shuttle or shuttle to ship isn't your main worries. Fortunately though a long drive, it's mostly a straight shot along I-95. And on weekend mornings you should have little traffic in Ft Lauderdale and less once past Boca.
