Sass4 Posted May 2, 2017 #1026 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Onboard the Navigator now we phoned and asked casino club if we were still vip 2 days before boarding and got told yes you are, don't forget to visit the casino host and get your vip sticker for your drinks. Got onboard and went to see the host and was told the rules have changed and now unless you accrued 1000 points on your most recent cruise, wether it was a 3 day freebie or a 16night sailing you wasn't a vip anymore. He had to email Miami head office to get permission to give us the drinks even though he could see on his computer that we had earned those points as we weren't on his paper list we didn't count. Turns out we had 990 points due to the double points not all counting, so he gave us a sticker but only after we complained that the only reason our last Cruise was a 4 day was because the casino people talked us into one when we wanted to book a longer cruise. We are diamond plus so get loads of free drinks anyway but it was the smirk on his face that made me argue with him lol. I swear to god every time i go near the bar he is watching me now lol. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app I wonder if this is the same casino host we had in March? Short guy named Pubelo or something? The reason I ask is that we were treated the exact same way like we were criminals or something. I was not given the VIP sticker until 3 days (because he said he had to check in the Main office) into the cruise and my husband got his on day 6. REALLY?? My husband was so disgusted by his attitude that he wants to quit RCCL all together. We know for a fact that all his points were NOT being recorded at the Blackjact table he gambled way more money than I did and way more time. Yet I had more points than he did at the end. What can we do about this? That casino host was condescending and rude!!
RFerrington Posted May 2, 2017 #1027 Share Posted May 2, 2017 I wonder if this is the same casino host we had in March? Short guy named Pubelo or something We were on NAV for the Christmas + NY cruise. Isn't his name Publio or something like that ? Even the dealers hate him. One of the dealers we talked with a lot said that in his opinion Publio is the worst Casino Host in the fleet. That's pretty rare. Rarely do you hear any of the staff bad-mouthing other members but it did happen on this cruise. I have to say that we were treated pretty well, all in all. We got stickers on the first night and I never had any problems with Publio but there were others on our sailing that did. Both of us got certificates for "free" cruises so I can't really complain. You had me a little concerned so I called Club Royale to makes sure that we were both on "the list" for our upcoming Grandeur sailing. It seems that we are so we shouldn't have any issues but the CR rep did remind me that the Manager and Host have flexibility to either give coupons (which I hate) or stickers on the seapasses. I guess I will find out when I get onboard !
Rare Denversail Posted May 3, 2017 #1029 Share Posted May 3, 2017 On our cruise last October my seapass already had a casino sticker on it at check in. I just assumed it was a change with the new program and that's how they do it now. Guess not. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I guess I will find out when I get onboard ! Is this calling ahead thing a new requirement? When I got onboard a couple of weeks ago, they told me that I should have called but I don't remember having to do that before. It only took her about minute to look me up (because I had been on a few weeks earlier) and give me a sticker.
Daghis Posted May 4, 2017 Author #1031 Share Posted May 4, 2017 No, it's not a new requirement. Basically, Club Royale only gives the casino hosts a list of those members that it knows are going to be on any particular sailing. If you don't let Club Royale know about your plans, you don't get added to that list. (In my experience, getting Club Royale to add me to that list was not 100% successful, though.) It'd be nice if their systems were automated in such a way that one's Club Royale and Crown & Anchor memberships were more tightly integrated so that having a booking on a ship would automatically engage this Club Royale notification system, but they're not. Yes that's him lol. Cashiers just roll their eyes when you mention him. He's a bit useless, he ran the slot tournament the other night and someone accidently touched the screen before he was ready and he was shouting down the microphone to stop stop stop the tournament. Made them feel awful. We could hear him all the way outside the casino and followed the noise to see what was happening. In regards to letting rccl casino people know you are on a certain cruise, we had phoned and talked to them 2 weeks and then again 2 days before set sail So they def knew we were on the navigator for this cruise. I'll be writing an email complaining about his conduct and uselessness as soon as we get home. Sami. RFerrington Posted May 5, 2017 #1033 Share Posted May 5, 2017 Just a head's up. I just booked the westbound Panama Canal transnsit on Vision (Nov 13 2018). To my great surprise, they had the casino rates loaded into their system and applied it to my booking, I had been warned that the casino rates would not be available until 11 days after the bookings for this cruise opened up but the agent was able to apply them immediately and was even able to transfer a cruise certificate from another booking. Prices are high on this one but I knew they would be with so much interest. Paid $8380 for both of us (GS) which includes the 46% casino discount. The base on the GS was $7499 PP. Yikes ! So in the end, it works out to about $259 PP/PD which really isn't all that outrageous for a canal transit in a full suite. At any rate, the bookings are still not open on the website so if you're interested in this cruise you need to call Club Royale directly. The agent could not have been more helpful to me this morning.
PompeySailor Posted May 6, 2017 #1034 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Just snagged the RS on Enchantment out of Galveston for Oct 2018. We managed to get 72% discount on base price (Casino rate, combined with play based discount, no certificates used) $77 each per night for 3 in the RS, only a 5 nighter but bargain and no flights. Win Win CR still treating us very well. Happy Days! Also no NEW news on the CR program, but a birdie tells me, maybe it will run parallel with Blue Chip program;)

I've noticed the sailings out of Galveston are all cheap compared to all the other ports for whatever reason. I'm sure CR will mirror the Blue Chip program....question is when? Milwaukee Eight Posted May 9, 2017 #1037 Share Posted May 9, 2017 Since I've got 22 cruises booked and no room for anymore new bookings, I have not gambled much on the last several cruises since I really have nothing to gain unless I win on that sailing , which happens only about 40% of the time. Once I "need" to book more cruises I'll just go back in and step up my game. Last week on Adventure I managed to win over $1,100 on the first night and QUIT the rest of the cruise. Didn't care about getting a certificate or not. They ended giving me a $200 Cert anyway! Probl can't use it but at least I took some of their money home for a change lol. I have used CR to discount already booked cruises as far as 18 months out, as recent as last week. Often we book onboard with Next Cruise and then I call CR who passes on discounts. Milwaukee Eight Posted May 9, 2017 #1039 Share Posted May 9, 2017 Club Royale is NOW basing your limited benefits on your LAST sailing. Only exception COULD be if your last sailing was "light", you COULD have them review your last 6-12 months of action to see if they could adjust your "rating" for a specific dollars off (subject to one per sailing in addition to certificate earned)... I think this started fleet wide March/April 2016 basing play on last cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Happy Bee Posted May 16, 2017 #1041 Share Posted May 16, 2017 Just back from Brilliance .... Like always we got two certificates comp balcony to choose from list or 1K in each certificate for 1 year .... it useless for us bec we are booked this year and next also. I call CR and ask all different possibilities to get at least something from these certificates but all answers for my questions were no we cannot :( Basically use it or loose it ...There is no reason to play big money anymore. Only good things coming out of my big money bets was during the sailing (Casino host was great) are --- free wine and champagne , strawberries, dining in Giovanni and dining in Izumi, massage and facial ---- at least some kind of rebate. Also some free money play for exp 5K points you got $100 slip to play in slots

As with all such things, it depends on who you talk to. Have 2 bookings currently that are beyond the 18 month "threshold". One thing that they seem to be united on though...for me, at least...no applying certs to existing bookings w/o repricing.
maryjaden Posted May 17, 2017 #1044 Share Posted May 17, 2017 I am very interested in what I will end up with on my 7 days on the Harmony in August. Yes, I tried one of the options to move my DH with his certificate / $ off to our dauther cabin (basically switched them) but if they do it then existing bookings must be repricing and after then calculated them current price with $off became more When you are saying : beyond the 18 month "threshold.... did you use money value (for exp 1K off) or certificate offer free balcony? I wouldn't think CR would offer any discount to your daughter if her play, if any, doesn't warrant it. Although we have received discounts from CR, I have never received a discount for other family members who do not play. Actually, we never have used a Certificate for free balcony as we travel in Suites. We go for the discounts. slotmomma3 Posted May 19, 2017 #1048 Share Posted May 19, 2017 Just an FYI to all. My husband and I both got e-mails yesterday for offers on certain sailings with football games on the day of disembarkation. Mine was for complimentary oceanview stateroom, and my husbands was for $250 off stateroom. Needless to say we used my offer and just upgraded to balcony. Very excited to go to a Monday Night football game!!
Redbeard the Pirate Posted May 20, 2017 #1049 Share Posted May 20, 2017 my 2 cents, a year ago christmas cruise 8 night out of balt on grandeur playing 2 hands @10-20 per. pretty much every hr they were open i was up 2k. out of the blue the host asks for my card, puts a sticker on it for free drinks. i told him i did not drink alcohol but i would drink frozen drinks and thank! then he leans over and tells me since i don't drink he'd like to send me .And my family of 3 to giovannis for dinner. holy crap i was just sittin there on my stool minding my own business and bamm! then he hands me 2 certificates for free cruises! then next they had a drawing for a diamond pendant and drew my ticket! then they had a high rollers roulette tourney. never played before, all these real high rollers were spreading their chips around and i just piled em on my wifes bday #s and it hit and it was over in 2 rounds! best cruise ever. then we went to gio's on last night and because it was, it was like a filet mignon and grilled scallop all you can eat buffet because they could not carry it over. club royale. thank you! i said all that to say this. those free vouchers exp long ago but they kept sending me lists of free cruises i could take, and finally i can go back to baltimore 5 day to burmuda for my 36th wedding anniversary [to the same woman!] should i call ahead to ask for perks or just let my host onboard? thanks for your help
