Rare MicCanberra Posted July 19, 2015 #102 Share Posted July 19, 2015 Whereas Tassie is our go to cruise. It was how I got DW on our first, if t hadn't been Tas I doubt sh'e have gone. Got a hold on one for next year. Love Tassie, always find something new and different to do and see.:D
The_Big_M Posted July 19, 2015 #103 Share Posted July 19, 2015 I think it would be saving costs as well. The cruise to Adelaide would have been better value than continuing to Melbourne. The prices I've seen aren't better value, in that the pricing is the same as the rest of the trip. Of course, it does save time and money... but it's just if you're taking a cruise just for the ship, it also makes sense to maximise your time on it (within reason). Wandering conversations are not as common on this forum as on others, Russell21, but it does happen occasionally, especially when we're filling in time as Mic said. ;)

gbenjo Posted July 22, 2015 Author #116 Share Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Just to get this thread back on track........ Captain Cook Cruises is today launching the Beatrice Bush which is a newly constructed mobile passenger terminal pontoon which will have the capability of being moved around to any location to in the Harbour to facilitate the boarding of passengers. This is the pontoon they will use at White Bay Cruise Terminal once the ferry service from Barrangaroo starts. Still do not know the details of the actual service but will let you know when i find out. Edited July 22, 2015 by gbenjo

Rare MicCanberra Posted July 22, 2015 #119 Share Posted July 22, 2015 Thanks, it still amazes that they didn't put in a wharf when they built White Bay. I know what you mean, they only built a building, didn't even put in a power supply for the ships to use.

Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted July 22, 2015 #121 Share Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) http://www.cruisecritic.com.au/news/news.cfm?ID=6454 "-- that will finally allow cruise passengers to take a charter ferry from the city to White Bay Cruise Terminal." So not a regular Sydney Ferries service in the cruise season, a Captain Cook charter ferry instead. Hmmmm, it's still a bit vague but it's encouraging that at least one company has recognised the problem. Edited July 22, 2015 by OzKiwiJJ
Rare mr walker Posted July 22, 2015 #122 Share Posted July 22, 2015 I know what you mean, they only built a building, didn't even put in a power supply for the ships to use. They could always fire up the old power station on days when ships are in. The Balmain left wing tree huggers wouldn't even notice the fumes from the ships then. In fact it would be a win win as the ships could turn off their engines completely:D Oh, I just had a thought. They could build a windfarm on the Balmain peninsula and supply power for the ships - that would be a perfect solution ;)

It may well be needed to book the ferry, as I imagine the demand may be rather high if the cost is competitive.
