Suite Guest on Labadee...guide me please!

Recommended Posts

Okay, we aren't much for standing in lines and we won't really spend all day on the beach, maybe 3 or 4 hours. We are suite guests on Oasis. Is it in our best interest to head to Barefoot Beach and just hang there for the time? We can get food and drink there right? We really would like to get a cabana but from what I'm reading, availability isn't guaranteed even though I was lead to believe that it was by RCCL customer service. Also, can we bring non suite guests to that beach with us? We are a group of 10 and only 4 of us are suite guests. If not, where would be the least crowded area to be all together?

And finally, are there activities that are off the beaten path we might not necessarily know about? Zip line and coaster and water slides don't really appeal to us...no kids in our group either.

Suite beach is not too crowded, even when we were there twice on the Allure.

Rare exceptions have been made to get no-non suite guest in the area.

C & A status is one.

Cabana will give upto 6 ish wrist bands.

Good luck on getting one.

You can visit the "nice" vendors in the buildings on the way to Adrenaline beach to see some local crafts.

It sounds like it will be a short sun, swim day for you.

Enjoy

Yes, Barefoot has an upgraded lunch buffet, also much less crowded than the regular buffet. This is complimentary for full suite guests, no cabana needed,

Wait and get off the ship just in time for lunch. Take a short walk to Dragon's breath point. Catch the Suite shuttle (large golf carts) to bare foot beach. spend some time there. Then take the shuttle to the far end and enjoy some local crafts. Ride the shuttle all the way back to the drop off point. You will miss the crowds and see pretty much everything. Swimming is best at bare foot beach. Now... for us, we make sure the Concierge knows we want an over the water cabana before we board and then remind him again when we board. So far... 4 out of 4 times we have revieved the Cabana of choice.

Non-suite guests are generally not allowed at Barefoot beach. The concierge might grant you to bring one or two, but certainly not 6 people. Nellie's beach is next to Barefoot and tho' it will certainly be more crowded, it is a nice beach on the calm water side of Labadee.

We are just off the Oasis. The concierge distributed the wristband needed to access Barefoot Beach (while we were on the ship). No wristband/no entrance.

If 4 of you are in a suite and you book one cabana he might possibly (if asked) give you wristbands for two non-suite guests.

Thats correct, like I earlier posted a cabana will hold 6 people, if you book it being in a suite (you and spouse) and get a cabana, you can invite 4 non-suite guests, just leave their names at the entrance with the attendant.

I recall reading a review from "Maxsmom" who was invited by the concierge to barefoot beach, and she and her DH were not in a suite.

On a recent cruise to Labadee, we were able to get two cabanas for our group. The concierge just gave us 12 wristbands and we could give them to whoever we wanted.

On Freedom this past June, wristbands were given out at the gate. On Oasis in April, they were given out by concierge. You might try and give the 6 wristbands from the concierge to your friends and just show your gold cards at the gate so you can get wristbands there. It might work. FWIW, NON suite guests can book a cabana based on availability, so I don't see the big deal

Non suite quests can book cabana at Nellies beach. They are reserved by shore excursions on board.

Suite guests can get the cabanas at barefoot beach. You can reserve from concierge.

Non suite guests who ask the concierge, can reserve a BB cabana based on availability. It probably helps to be D+ so you have access to Concierge. You may have a better chance on a non Oasis sized ship.

As always, YMMV

There is no need to get a cabana, especially if you don't plan on spending the whole day on Labadee. You can come and go from the ship as you please. There are plenty of shady spots all around. Lunch is served on Labadee, but it's also served on the ship...

As far as a quiet spot...that varies from cruise to cruise...Labadee isn't so large that you can't just wander about until you find a spot you like. This is a beach day, pure and simple. There are watersport activities...like wave runners or kayaking...stuff like that, if you're interested. They are all "follow the leader" sorts of things....you can't rent equipment and do your own thing.
