mickeychicky Posted August 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2015 In your experience, are all rooms available at the same time after boarding? Our cruise departs at 4:30pm (Port Canaveral, FL) and was wondering around what time are the rooms actually ready? I don't want to plan on boarding too early if its going to be closer to departure time that our room is ready.... And how will you know when its ready? some kind of announcement or do you just have to go back to your room and keep trying? Thanks
Clarea Posted August 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Usually ready around 1pm. Some ships make an announcement.
GUT2407 Posted August 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2015 They usually make an announcement, so I guess not till all cabins are ready.
cb at sea Posted August 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Sometimes, they're ready earlier...the firedog to your hallway will be opened when the cabins are ready.
Merion_Mom Posted August 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Sometimes, they're ready earlier...the firedog to your hallway will be opened when the cabins are ready. I have never seen a firedog on a cruise ship. Perhaps you meant "fire door"? ;)
GUT2407 Posted August 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2015 I have never seen a firedog on a cruise ship. Perhaps you meant "fire door"? ;) DD and DW, to a lesser extent, would probably cruise a lot more often f they were allowed take their precious fire dogs with them. OCruisers Posted August 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 2, 2015 On our last RCCL cruise we weren't allowed to go to cabins until 2:30. Don't know why. Normally, it's been between 1:00 - 1:30.

Missus Makkem Posted August 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 2, 2015 A fire dog could bite you I think that he meant a firedoor A firedog would not bite you here in the UK well not in places that have an open fire. They are flat bricks that make the fire size a bit smaller and do not need as much fuel.
dacsmom Posted August 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 2, 2015 When you see the doors open, the cabins are ready. Mostly it seems to be around 1:30 ish. I like to board early to avoid the crowds, there is quite a lot to do on the ship. Unless you are taking a lot of carry on luggage there is no downside to getting on early. CORKY_Q Posted August 2, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 2, 2015 We have found that only after ALL cabins are ready will they open the Fire Doors and allow access to the cabins. Generally that is 1:00 - 1:30, Happy sailing!:)
scottish cruise fan Posted August 2, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 2, 2015 We boarded just before 11 on our cruise in July on the Allure. I didn't take any carry on luggage. It was great exploring the ship till the rooms were ready. Some areas were deserted!

shofer Posted August 3, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 3, 2015 We were just on Vision for a 12 day Mediterranean and after lunch we just sat in the Solarium until an announcement was made @ 1 PM. Sue
trihawks1 Posted August 3, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 3, 2015 On our last cruise as well as the prior cruise rooms were ready between 1:00-1:30 as most have stated. We decided that we would leave our carry on luggage with someone in our group so that others could explore. We sat at the lounge area just by the elevators on the deck and close to our cabin. Everyone knew to come back around 1:00. This last time, we took all of our luggage thru security at Port Everglades because we took taxis from our hotel...so a bit harder to do WIndjammer but we did it. It was awesome having our luggage all available as we unpacked as soon as we got to the room then went back exploring.
